Thoroughly enjoyed the matinee today.
Definitely more plot driven this year (and even then it’s very slim) but lots of great stuff from Rob Madge and to a lesser extent Louis Gaunt. Francis massively underused alas.
We had a “no fly” show - Julian was all hooked up but alas, never took flight. Stagehands came on and he was ushered off. Certainly a bit anticlimactic but a good laugh in act two when he jokes of everyone recovering from his brilliant flying. Lovely tribute to Paul O Grady. Same gags as every year pretty much with some fun moments from Saunders. Always love Julian in this and it was no different this year.

Julian is by far the star of the show and his costumes this year didn't disappoint. Everyone complains about the prices for this but to get this level of talent for such a short run, the only way they can even think of making their money back is charging 150-200 pounds for the best seats. People might complain but the seats are sold...

Am at the Matinee - Does a very famous man who has previously been in a Palladium Panto, usually come on with some fish fingers??

On the ticket info section of the official website. Thank you very much. Thank you so much for this tip of using the shows website. I noticed that the matinee seats got reduced about two hours before curtain up so kept an eye out for tonight's show and managed to get row I in the stalls for £47.50 (normally £90). Very excited to see it tonight and thank you for the tip.

Julian gives some fish fingers out at one stage. That's all I can recall. I think Julian said it was usually a chorus boy or something, but instead we had the man who headlined Pantoland! I know most will know who it was but I won't say just incase someone doesn't know and is seeing it tonight, in case he comes out again. There are no spoiler tags on the mobile version. He came into the audience to give away his fish fingers, sang a bit of his biggest hit and all the older ladies in the audience went wild.

I was also at the matinee yesterday. I had hoped to use the single seat offer and upgrade at the box office from my Stalls C3 restricted view seat when I saw what the last minute availability was. Just thought I would mention in case anyone else thinks of trying this that I was told the offer is online only so I could only change at the full price so I stuck with my original seat. The view is not great for seeing anything at the back of the stage and on the far right but it was also fun being close when this wasn’t the case and seeing the detail on Julian’s costumes.

Stephen {Spoiler - click to view} short musical number of “As if we never said goodbye” That absolutely didn't happen last night. I think it was a male member of the ensemble who brought the fish fingers on stage for Julian. No celebrity or song involved.

The Paul OGrady tribute was surprisingly moving

Got a ticket middle of stalls row J and hour before curtain. Got for £80 usually £195. Picked a good day to see it as Donnoy Osmond made a guest apperance.

Sat in A24/25 and swapped with my friend at the interval. A24 is bearable but A25 really should not be on sale. It was a case of looking through a gap in the stage decoration to see the bulk of the action.
Having said that, I can't image A23 is significantly better, despite being priced significantly higher than £20!
Fun show as usual with plenty of smut, although Zerdin is particularly extraneous this year!

Oh yes there are! I'm on the mobile version now and have no issue typing this. How do you do that then? I can't see them I couldn't resist the panto joke, but you're right insofar as there's no assistance in the mobile version to generate the tags. You write the following but with square brackets rather than curved ones. (spoiler)text-you-want-hidden(/spoiler)

Apparently Saunders is actually fun in this - can anyone confirm?! She is fun and will 100% will get better. A lot better at being 'bad' than Dawn French in Snow White, and would probably have been helped by having fewer solo scenes and interacting with the cast more. Or even a bigger musical number like Julian has for his entrance (oo-er). She seemed a lot more comfortable {Spoiler - click to view} as Edina than as Hook
