You're probably right but I wish they would show Best Supporting Actor and Actress. I really wanted to see Haydn Gwynne's son collecting her award.

People moan about the ceremony not being broadcast live in the UK but I suspect if ITV1 did show it live, it would do badly ratings wise. There are work arounds as plenty found on here for those who wanted to watch it live on YouTube. |

Sad to see you all disliking Hannah so much, I thought she was a lot of fun. She always seems to just be her quirky self no matter what she's doing.
I guess to each their own but I thought she was wonderful.
Also loved the Sunset Blvd performance...really looking forward to it being on Broadway. Overall I thought it was a good Oliviers...hoping next year it will be more accessible to watch than trying to find a VPN that works.

Just access via a country that isn't restricted - in my case, I chose Ireland with France as a back up. Anywhere in Europe would work just fine. Just not the UK... USA members also had to navigate restrictions but managed to watch. |

Pleased to see Jak Malone win Best Supporting Actor in a Musical. His rendition of Dear Bill was the standout part of Operation Mincemeat for me.

Don't know much about her. Not been in any plays I've seen.
I just find it a little disconcerting her hair is fixed, her forehead doesn't move and her breasts don't wobble. A bit AI generated.

SOLT wanted both Dear England and Stranger Things to head over with Oliviers, thus them putting ST in that category. Likewise why Operation Mincemeat won over TBLT. The former is going to New York, the latter is not. Olivier Award wins are mainly help for marketing/making money when they cross the pond. |

Just home, our seats were amazing. Right with the entire Dear England crowd, got to congratulate Will Close sat just a few seats down from me. Beverly Knight, Michael Sheen and Ruth Jones all sat behind us(!) we had GOOD seats.
Tom Francis brought the place down, he arrived in just near us and yeah an immediate standing ovation.
Afterparty was fab, brief Nicole and Hannah W appearances, an over the moon Amy Trigg and Tom Francis enjoying themselves. Andrew Scott and James Norton burning up the dancefloor. Mincemeat wandering around in a state of dazed shock in particular Jak Malone. Charlie Stemp, Jack Wolfe and Eleanor Worthington-Cox and friends/partners chatting away all night.
Lots of winners clutching their awards. Lots and lots of champagne, lots of wine by Kylie Minogue (?!?). It was in the Natural History Museum underneath the blue whale so a fab venue.
Sarah Snook had mislaid her sticker to access the party - they accepted the Olivier she was carrying instead 
Hannah W certainly went down well where we were sitting and interestingly, could see the entire auto-cue and the only less great jokes or lines were on there, the really good stuff in particular the Tom Francis line was all her.
Oh yeah, David Tennent and Michael Sheen chatting up a storm at the interval. Heh.
The heavy use of War Horse during the NT section seems to strongly back up the suggestion in the other thread of it returning to the NT this year!

Not sure where anyone is getting the idea that OPERATION MINCEMEAT is Broadway bound (where it would die a very quick and sudden death). Wishful thinking perhaps? The show does have a recent licencing agreement with Avalon for productions in other countries, but that doesn't necessarily mean a prelude to Broadway. Toronto then maybe Off-Broadway but even then, it would be a challenge to sell. |
