Lots of very well known actors are instantly recognisable from their voice (Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Toby Jones, Joanna Lumley, Juliet Stevenson...)
A less well known one is Akiya Henry. I've only seen her in 3 or 4 things, but when I saw Phaedra I recognised her as soon as she spoke - very distinctive.

And on the subject of Michael Caine, he (Shrapnel, not Caine) was the son-in-law of Deborah Kerr. Not a lot of people know that!

I don't know whether you'd call it distinctive in the 'unusual' sense, but Nigel Terry (Blue, Caravaggio, Excalibur) had a great voice. For the vintage stuff, and very distinctive as they had to be, the old radio sitcoms on BBC Radio 4 extra - Round the Horne, Hancock, The Goon Show etc. Dame Maggie Smith worked with Kenneth Williams earlier in her career, and there's a bit of a similarity there.

Got to mention Kenneth Williams (went past a place near the British Museum last week where he stayed from the thirties to fifties and a blue plaque has been out up, more respect than he got on the Hollywood Walk of Fame 🤣)

That sounds awful doesn't it but I don't know how how else to describe it. I actually love her voice. |
