What shows would you like to see revived in London?
I'd like to see an Oliver and Mary Poppins revival and also a new UK tour of Legally Blonde!

Luckily there seems to be a lot of talk of Mary Poppins following Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into Drury Lane for a limited run so fingers crossed for that!
I think another production of Oliver! probably won't happen for another ten or so years (IF it happens), as the last one was only Dec 2008 to Jan 2011, which I believe started not selling out Drury Lane as well when Rowan Atkinson left after the first 8 months. But I could be wrong - it could be sooner, you never know maybe if they got another star like Rowan Atkinson to play Fagin! At the same time, it could be later or not at all seeing as there's been a few regional productions since the end of Cameron Mackintosh's UK Tour, i.e. Watermill Newbury, Leicester Curve and Sheffield Crucible.
I would say a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang revival would be great, but of the original Palladium production, not this smaller production currently on tour. Also it would probably never happen with all the controversy it caused (and on the total other end of the spectrum to Chitty!), but Jerry Springer The Opera would be great! I love the BBC2 recording DVD so seeing it live would be fantastic! Here's hoping that Christian voice will become a bit more tolerant...

I think Grease, Oliver etc need to be rested and not revived for another 10-15 years. I'd like to see something that hasn't been revived yet like Camelot, Brigadoon, Mame etc

I think it would do great! Yeah I I think a UK tour of Oliver could work in like 10 years maybe? Yeah maybe because Chitty is touring at the moment a West End revival chances could be sparse. Maybe it could go to a smaller west end theatre for a limited run after the tour? I can't see it happens though to be honest.

What you have to remember, george, is that- for some of us- the shows you mention in your initial post seem like they were playing only yesterday. In the case of Oliver, I can remember it at the Albery Theatre (now the Noel Coward, and formerly the New) in its second or third (?) coming. Mary Poppins... Did you see that? It wasn't that long ago, was it? I'm sure there are slightly older shows that would benefit from a revival.
I can think of one or two shows playing at the moment that are in need of resuscitation...

Yeah I do agree. I saw Oliver at Drury Lane, I can't remember it though. I never saw Mary Poppins, hence why I'd like a revival. What at are the shows playing at the moment you are thinking of then?

Oooo, have a look at the Naughty Thread in the other room! You are obviously Mad About Musicals, like many of us...! Have you ever been in any? Do you like acting yourself?

Beauty & The Beast, Martin Guerre, Mame, My Fair Lady, The Rink, Nine, Follies, Cinderella (R&H), Hello Dolly, The Lord Of The Rings, Man Of La Mancha, Me & My Girl, Notre Dame De Paris, On The Town, On The 20th Century, She Loves Me, The Witches Of Eastwick
Would be happy with even an off-West end production of some of these. Also hope that Regents Park revive Evita one year.

Bend it bend it
Sorry
I have to say it
Don't shoot me
It's all about the way you phrase it
Don't twist the truth
Just fail to raise it

You DO Have Sunset Boulevard As your Picture 10 out of 10 for observation (though not sure what that has to do with you repeatedly quoting dodgy lyrics from a failed musical... or even your inability to use a full stop or a paragraph).

That's why I gave away the tickets I had for that travesty at the Phoenix last year. Are you JK Rowling by any chance?

A Starlight Express revival with tracks and bridge (and no 3D) is top of my list.

I reckon it's time for full scale revival of Billy (I know there was one at the little Union Theatre a while back) but we need a BIG production... Some catchy songs, and the potential for some cracking sets. Not to mention a vehicle for one of our talented young bloods. And Follies. We've had umpteen incarnations of Sweeney and Into the Woods. I don't know why there's not been a big revival of this. (Again, a West End theatre please, not a littl'un.) I still remember Maria Bjornson's set at the Shaftesbury, all arty scaffolding and swathes of polythene. And all those big names on one stage (some of them enjoying a little outing) in one evening... The right reimagining of this could get an audience young and the old in the same theatre at the same time! How about that ali?

Yes a Follies revival would be great!
I'd also like to see a full on West Snd revival of Into the Woods. Did anybody see the cast for the original production? It was like Julia McKenzie, Imelda Staunton...

Mornin' george! Yes, I did! Clive Carter was in it. Now let me think who else... Your little idol was in the one at the Donmar, wasn't she? (You still haven't told us if you like acting and sing in musicals yourself... )
