This was also included on Oxford ATG email. This is apparently the version from the WE and not the Curve production as thought. At Oxford from 28th March - 1st April.

The Curve production will apparently have 4 songs cut from the production prior to its Broadway run included in it. The cast was also announced this evening.

What's the bet the touring version will go for stunt casting, with pop stars or talent show graduates?

The Curve production will apparently have 4 songs cut from the production prior to its Broadway run included in it. The cast was also announced this evening. I was at the launch last night, and feel the need to qualify this - some casting was announced, not all, so there could be a few 'names' still to come. Djalenga Scott I presume is Rizzo as she sang 'There Are Worse Things I Could Do' and someone also sang 'Greased Lightning', and I can't for the life of me remember his name (sorry!), but I didn't recognise him - I'm thinking he'll be Kenickie? I think he sings GL in the musical. They also quickly mentioned that Darren Bennett (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Legally Blonde, The Importance Of Being Earnest) would be joining Curve again for Grease, I'm guessing as either Vince Fontaine or Teen Angel? Sorry to disappoint, but there could be some exciting names yet to be announced!

They had better recreate this . . . Evidence that there really is a God.

Birmingham Hippodrome 29 May - 3 June 2017
...which I must say is pretty unusual seeing as the tour always goes to the Alexandra!

The shows twitter page has confirmed the casting too... 'UKs top boy band' really? does anyone think that? Must say, this is underwhelming, especially after the excitement over the Curve production. Guess it will appeal to a younger audience, though, and possibly get them into the theatre for the first time. We'll just have to wait and see how he turns out..

May I be the first to say 'whoooooooooo?'
If my limited knowledge of 'The Wanted' is correct isn't he the blank one? The one you wouldn't remember if someone made you list the members of 'The Wanted'? Y'know, that one? Wasn't on Strictly, wasn't in Glee...that one.

He is sexy... least he has that going for him! I am a fan of The Wanted (I'm not ashamed) and he was always, for me, the disposable one. There is alwayz one in every band, the one that is just there to look pretty or make it look symmetrical!

The level of casting on UK tours is getting worse. I guess if it sells tickets, that's no bad thing!

He does hafe a decent voice though... and the role isn't exactly a massive toll emotionally.
He will pull it off... it isn't gonna be a Sarah Harding level of terrible-ness.

I don't see why the casting is that bad. The Wanted had 3 top 10 albums, 10 top 10 singles (including two #1s) so at least they were popular. He looks good, can hold a tune and let's face it, 'Grease' is not going to win any acting awards so as long as he can get the lines right he'll be fine. He's no worse casting than Matt Cardle in 'Memphis', Melanie C in 'Blood Brothers' or Jade Ewen in 'Aladdin'.

Not the biggest fan but it's a bit unfair to lump Jade in with them. She did do ITH before Aladdin and stuff even before that. She wasn't just stunt cast in Aladdin as she was already transitioned into a musical theatre performer.

The level of casting on UK tours is getting worse. I guess if it sells tickets, that's no bad thing! Agree with this. I expected this sort of casting so, having never seen Grease on stage before, decided to book the Curve production rather than the tour. Nick Winston usually does a great job with the choreography and I thought a fresh production with a stellar cast would be better than a tired, stunt-casted touring version.

I'm sure in the stage version the teen angel acts as a radio announcer in act one and then as the lead singer of the band during the dance sequence. As well as "beauty school dropout" of course. But then it's a long time since I've seen the show so my memory might be hazy.
