Not arguing but Michael Crawford was the finest Phantom I ever saw- he acted the hell out of that role. I could almost forgive him many other things for the talent and skill he showed in that role.

With that kind of help, suddenly wondering what he is bitching about... The French co-production was mainly a financial help, wasn't it? So, not what you seem to be implying.

I think Idina Menzel wasn't a good Elphaba, Michael Crawford wasn't a good Phantom and Sarah Brightman wasn't a good Christine. I think a fair few people would probably agree with two of those three, but I'm afraid you lost me with Michael Crawford, can't agree there!

Yep, I agree to some extent with the other two (although I'd go with 'not the best' peraonally) but Michael Crawford is wonderful in my opinion.

unpopular opinions? oh, i want to share some - and then run for my life - cannot listen to Colm Wilkinson sing (esp. Les Miserables) - don't like Idina Menzel singing (the only role of her that was ok was in Rent, otherwise, no thanks for me) - absolutely cannot stand Frances Ruffelle as Eponine - really cannot listen to Celinde Schoenmaker as Christine (sounds like a wannabe Charlotta to me, but no Christine), will never get the hype - Sierra Boggess as Christine is , how do i say it nice , not good and way overrated

I would be quite happy never to hear I Dreamed a Dream sung ever again.

I thought Woman in Black was the most boring play I had ever sat through.

I think Caryl Churchill's plays are over-rated. They make the actors work terribly hard for very little substance.

He still looks about the same age now!

Priest? Bishop, please. Of Digne, no less.
Yes, Cam Mack thought that a fine moment: one Valjean handing the candle-sticks to another. He omitted to tell us which he thought was the better one. But then we all worked that out for ourseleves...

Book of Mormon. Cheap looking, crass, unfunny and not a decent tune in it. I never cracked a smile. Whaaaaat? Oh Burly I am disappointed....I thought it was absolutely hilarious. Better still it undercut all of the absolute filth with excellent song and dancery so you forgot how indignant you were about what they'd just said.

I'd place it marginally about the touring version of Spamalot.

I don't ike Sondheim and I don't like a single song he's ever written.

I don't ike Sondheim and I don't like a single song he's ever written. Some unkind philistines would say that he's based a whole career around a single song so . . . . I'm not one of those people. He's got about 2 and a half songs at least. 3 at a push.

His appearance at the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest representing Ireland and rocking the scarf look. He came 5th btw. Glorious.

I have a letter from Colm. He is one of the nicest performers ever. My unpopular opinions are:- 1.) Gary Wilmot, Nick Jonas, Michael Crawford, Paul Nicholas, Sporty Spice, Elaine Paige, Jade McEwan, Jason Donovan and Marty Pellow should not be allowed in musicals anymore; 2.) Webber is better than Sonheim in general; 3.) From Here to Eternity and Imagine This are both really good shows; 4.) Mamma Mia is boring; 5.) Jukebox shows and shows for children should be axed asap (and plans gor anymore musicals based on British films), 6. ) The best Broadway shows never reach the West End - Bonnie & Clyde, Jane Eyre, Bridges of Madison County, Aida, Next 2 Normal, Carrie, Sideshow (Southwark playhouse short-runs don't count), Scarlet Pimpernel, etc.., etc... .
