And while're on the subject, I just watched the movie of An American in Paris again. I love Paris. I can't stand Gene Kelly. At all.

Long curtain calls irritate me. If the running time of a show is 2 hours and 40 minutes you expect most of it to be plot, the endless "let's all bow" followed by "let's sing a few lines", followed by "let's bow AGAIN but in different groups" etc is remarkably annoying and time consuming. Each of the leads can have their own bow, ensemble can be split up into several groups if you want, but one individual bow and one collective bow is more than enough. I don't have 6 minutes worth of applause in me so don't even try.

In Italy it's a nightmare, because the actors keep bowing until the audience stops clapping, but since the actors stay on stage the audience thinks it's rude to stop so the whole thing goes on and on and on forever.

Same, and I will like her even less if she makes the Gypsy movie

I don't like them to be too long, but I do like to see the cast come on to bow and see them address the audience directly at that point, and see them look grateful (if the show is well received) for what they have just done.

Never been that keen on Bernadette Peters.....also find it creepy that her face doesn't move much nowadays (sorry if that is a little mean, but I am not a fan of botox - really reduces expression)

Not sure how popular or unpopular this opinion is: the TodayTix app lotteries are a horrible way to attempt to get tickets for something.
It doesn't give you enough notice that you've 'won' or enough time to book a ticket if you have.

*gasp* I. Can't. Even. Begin. To. Process. That. Comment. If you were in my house I'd throw you out. If you were in my garden walking up the path to my front door I'd turn the sprinklers on.

I think I've discovered the sure-fire way to win a TodayTix lottery - make other plans after you enter, involving people coming round. Fortunately I noticed the voicemail at 4:30 PM telling me I'd won a Richard III ticket and my parents are very understanding about my theatre habit and told me to go. Just jumped on a train to London and should just about get there in time to grab a bite to eat before it starts.

I thought Dogfight was below average at best. Completely misogynist story, the female lead character is annoying beyond belief (complete Mary-Sue and so vanilla) and the score/book/staging felt like it borrowed ingredients from Grease, Spring Awakening and Miss Saigon.

I think Idina Menzel wasn't a good Elphaba, Michael Crawford wasn't a good Phantom and Sarah Brightman wasn't a good Christine.

Actually, I have looked back at things I've seen since Rufus took over, and there's so far not as many stinkers as I saw under Hytner (though yes, obviously Hytner was there for longer).
That said, it's pretty bold to claim Brexit as your lowest point when you're responsible for wonder.land...

That said, it's pretty bold to claim Brexit as your lowest point when you're responsible for wonder.land... Rufus was saying that international collaboration, which he wishes to grow at the NT, will be more difficult with the UK outside the EU. For example, wonder.land was co-produced with a French theatre and without that co-producer the NT could have afforded to have produced less original work last year.
