I'm seeing this on 1st September and just discovered it will be filmed for NT Live. Has anyone had experience being at a filmed performance? I imagine it's going to be pretty distracting, so I'm quite irritated...

I went yesterday and Tuesday. It was really a great experience. The audience buzz was really great to be a part of. What I liked: I really enjoyed the friendship between Albus and Scorpius. There was almost a subversive element to the story. Albus is a hero while also being the antithesis of Harry (Slytherin, lacks friends, bad at magic etc). Scorpius is as un-Malfoy as you'd expect. There is a part of me that questions whether someone who would come from such a twisted family would be such a functioning, good person, but that can be looked over. I enjoyed that it all seemed to break away from Rowling's all to often monochromatic view of the four Hogwarts house's representing very one dimensional archetypes. That was nice. Did the story warrant two parts? I'm not sure. The time turning plot was fun but becomes a bit too convoluted at times. It could have definitely been streamlined and tightened up by removing the Dursley/Hagrid flashbacks. It was very much structured around the fourth book, so you better have boned up on that before going. The use of the time turning storyline makes you sense very early on that things will be reset, which removes a lot of tension. Like someone has previously said in this thread, there was a definite whiff of fanfiction, but maybe that's just because we've each become so engrained with our own personal imaginations of what happened post-epilogue. Like everyone else has said, the actress playing Delphi wasn't able to convey what was needed. There was no sense of threat at all. And it was all very panto. {Spoiler - click to view} I was expecting a death at the end of Part 2 and was a little disappointed that everyone was able to escape relatively unscathed.

I would love to see this come to London. Just listened to the Broadway OCR and really connected to the story. I could see this working nicely in a smaller venue like Menier or Southwark Playhouse?

Wonderful news! I really enjoyed seeing the Broadway run in 2010 with Kristin.

Got in with a 3 minute wait on ATG, Nimax shows a queue of an hour (there are 4989 people in the queue ahead of you) ... Noticed the same thing! Lots of seats up for grabs via ATG right now... I've booked a second viewing in row A stall seats for a November weekend same day double bill. Hope I wont need orthopaedic therapy for my neck by the end of it. I usually have the worst luck with having incredibly tall people in front of me, so at least I wont have to worry about that... Does anyone know whether the stage for Harry Potter is quite high?

How did you do? I totally forgot until just now about this. Only 4907 people in front though... *facepalm* Got some for a friend for september really easily, was in before 12 and just refreshed at midday! It looked like there were quite a few tickets, good luck! Brilliant! Glad it was nice and easy. I'll report back when I'm through the queue (in an hour or so haha)

Just got back from seeing this tonight and I concur with everything you guys have said. Really great stuff. Thought Charlotte Gorton as the mother was in particular a force to be reckoned with. Definitely would recommend going if you can make it before it closes this Saturday

Thanks for the tip, firefingers!
Almost booked a second visit for November, but the only seat available for Part 2 was right at the end of row J in Stalls, which looks like it has a very obstructed view yet is still selling for top price... Hopefully more tickets will randomly pop up in the coming weeks...

When is ANGELS IN AMERICA open for booking? Don't want to miss out! I don't think a date has been announced yet (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) I'm sure once it's announced, people will be chatting about it here.

Like a lot of people have already said, Sunset Boulevard at the ENO was pretty special. The first time I went, I also had a fun time spotting Andrew Lloyd Webber and Graham Norton.
Another highlight was Streetcar Named Desire at Young Vic. I'd never seen the play before. Going in cold, I was blown away by Gillian Anderson. She had the entire audience captivated. It was incredible!

Wow, the cast looks pretty amazing! Struggling to justify paying such high ticket prices for a one-act show though. Especially as I know The Arts isn't the nicest theatre to frequent.. Not even a concession period for previews!
Do people reckon this will likely get discounted in the future, or will the strength of the cast list make it a hot ticket? Think I'm going to wait and hope for the best...

Just booked tickets for this & Moby Dick Musical. Does the Union Theatre have an unallocated seating policy? I've never been before and I didn't get a seat number with my order..

That's annoying, Tom! I reckon it's a good idea to try calling again in a few days, it seems like it's a matter of luck whether the right person answers your call at the right time!

Managed to book my U25 entry pass tickets very smoothly this morning. Was surprised! Really hope it will be the same case for when Angels in America starts booking!

Hello! Yes i just called the main number. Maybe I was just very very lucky. I just tried calling again and managed to get through to someone who was able to offer a return for two weeks' time!! Very good stall seats. Was giving my account details when my phone line cut off. Called back and was greeted to a different person who claimed there were literally no returns available. After the most stressful five minutes of my life, in which I repeatedly stated I was in the process of buying said ticket, I managed to get the person to finally transfer me back to the original person I was chatting to. Finally managed to secure the tickets! Phew. So stressful but am so excited now!

On the subject of returns, just picked up a very good pair of stall seats for October by phoning Nimax. Absolutely wonderful service. Very little availability for the times I could go, but if you can be very flexible about dates you might strike lucky. Hello ptwest, did you just call the general Nimax phone line? I tried calling a little earlier and was sternly told that returns are only available via the official email subscription? Maybe I just got unlucky with who answered!
