Carrie Hope Fletcher is already liking tweets being snarky about the show so safe to say she was never going over. Classy. Shame she can't support the new Cinderella, whatever her personal experience was. She hasn’t done anything unsupportive of the Broadway production. I believe the only things she has liked are things to do with her own experience and the London production. There is nothing in her likes over the past few weeks that mentions Cinderella and certainly nothing that shows she isn’t supportive of the Broadway Cinderella.

Have to say that I really enjoyed it. Some genuinely funny moments that made me laugh out loud. I actually thought it was a much funnier film than the first though the first is still the better movie. The Sanderson sisters were great and it had felt like nothing had changed in the 30 years since they last played those roles. And I thought the rest of the supporting cast did a solid job.

I listened all the way through today. It's disappointing. It feels flat to me.
I know they have some known names on this recording, but i'm not sure why they recorded it at all.
Oh I thought it was a gorgeous recording! The original recording sounds like it was done in a tunnel. I was lucky enough to see this cast on Broadway back in July and I’m so glad that they’ve done this recording.

It feels like when they cast musical movies we always want the parts to go to musical theatre actors but instead we always get lumped with James Corden and other Hollywood actors trying to sing. And now we have 3 parts so far that have all gone to people with theatre experience and genuinely great singing voices and now we’re complaining that the film doesn’t have enough recognisable names to sell tickets.
Ariana is a huge name and will absolutely draw a lot of her fans in to watch this movie. Cynthia and Jonathan don’t have that same level of following but both are recognisable faces within the industry. And Jonathan is in one of the biggest tv shows in the world right now so a lot of people will recognise his face when they start putting out trailers.
At the end of the day I don’t think any of us really need to be sat here worrying about ticket sales. I just want a good movie (or 2) out of it and if it flops at the box office then it’s really none of my concern. West Side Story bombed at the box office but it was still a great movie that I can continue to love despite that.

Seems like the cast found out via BroadwayWorld and not from the producers. Not quite. Seems the crew found out from Broadwayworld but the cast were informed.

In MickeyJoTheatre’s most recent vlog he said this was likely going to be the next big hit musical and that it felt similar to Come From Away - unsure if that’s going to be the major consensus but it’s had great reviews so far If that’s true then I’m glad I booked to see it before it starts selling out I went to see it recently in Birmingham and had a lovely time. But the next big hit musical this is not. I haven’t seen the movie but I’m assuming it pretty much follows the exact same story and it’s a pretty thin plot. And the music is lovely, rousing and beautifully sung but the songs themselves don’t develop the plot or move the story forward in anyway. It’s pretty much a jukebox musical where they have taken these sea shanty songs and built the story around them. And like I said it makes for a lovely couple of hours The only way this is comparable to Come From Away I guess would be that the music is in that folk style with a small folk band who are visible on stage. But apart from that they’re nothing alike.

Just got out of seeing this for the first time with a rush ticket through TodayTix and had a really great time. I thought the songs were good but a bit forgettable. But the performances and stage effects were amazing! I think if you’re a fan of the film then this is a must see.
There were moments particularly in Act 1 where I was struggling to make out a lot of the lyrics and even some dialogue. But it seemed to improve as the show went on. I would say Act 2 was a lot stronger than the first. And the ending was just brilliant with a man a few rows ahead fist pumping the air he was so excited.

Just a question what is the name of this Welsh TV Show, which had no problem to let someone perform .., Why should the composer be restricted - when others perform the songs even on TV? The music exists. There’s no way to stop anybody from singing those songs ever again.

This unofficial musical would not even exist if it wasn’t for Shonda Rhimes, Julia Quinn and Netflix. They created Bridgerton and Barlow and Bear have stolen that for their own financial gain. To put it down to them being annoyed about some awards is ridiculous. So don’t come trying to belittle Shonda Rhimes as someone just throwing a hissy fit when this whole thing wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for the massively successful tv show that she created.

Had a fabulous time at the matinee today. It’s genuinely laugh out loud funny and balances it well with some really lovely sentimental moments. There’s a song which I think was called “Grow” which nearly had me crying.
Great performances by the whole cast with everybody getting their moments to shine. This has to have a life beyond Cheltenham.

Avoiding the questions on the quality of the work, as a lawyer who studied IP and has worked in the music licensing space in the past, it’s going to be challenging to claim this is fair use. The professor on his other post takes a more academic approach, which is fine and good for a brush up on basics but they would be stretching the limits of what is good understanding and acceptable use of the concept as this is not a narrow usage of underlying copyrighted work. Noting they they were involved in a licensing agreement that would be very clear in specifying limits of their license, no decently drafted agreement would have left this unclear to allow an implied license. Wish they well but their best hope will be a settlement but I think Netflix is not going to care about some unhappy musical theatre people compared to the larger investment they have made in the series Also remember we still cannot have the Lippa Wild Party in the U.K. for the same reason. 😬 Longer statement I think a New York Law School Professor knows what he is talking about www.instagram.com/reel/Cgva9nslVre/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=He is just pointing out a defence option that the composers could try to use but no where does he state that they are in the right or that they would win. It’s an interesting video and a solid explanation but he is just simply saying what path the composers could go down to try and get out of this.

Netflix should have jumped on the bus a long time ago... promoting the Royal Albert Hall gig... a big BBC production...inviting William,Kate and the kids. They tried. Netflix offered them a license to which they declined.

They could have issued a cease and desist notice at any point from when the first tracks started appearing online But they didn't They didn't act when the album won the Grammy. Or when the song book was published. But they didn't Only when a big live performance happened did they choose to initiate legal proceedings. I am not defending the songwriters. But I do question why it took so long for Netflix to react. By the sounds of it the creators of Bridgerton seemed fairly supportive originally when the TikTok videos first started. Now why didn’t they react when the album and Grammy happened? Well Netflix is claiming that they reached out to the composers to see if they wanted to officially license the rights to Bridgerton and they declined. Not sure when that happened exactly but it seems like Netflix were still supportive of it all and wanted to see it continue in an official capacity but the composers didn’t want that. So maybe Netflix thought that was the end of it and nothing more would come from it. So then the live concerts start and not only concerts but also merchandise. It’s much clearer to see from this the kind of money that was being made. They would just need to look at ticket prices and size of venue to be able to figure out a rough estimate of how much profit they were making. And so here we are with the lawsuit. People might say that Netflix has only jumped in now that the composers are clearly making money from it. Well yeah of course they are. Netflix is a business and other people are making money using their IP.

But this is not any different to the Unofficial Harry Potter musical that was toured back in the day. It is commercialised fanfic. And I don't think there is enough case law to be certain where the courts might draw the line between tribute and copyright infringement. And isn't it now a little late for Netflix to be getting lawyered up? The pair have already won the Grammy for the album. If they were that concerned, they should have sued then or even earlier in the process. A few concert performances of the score is not going to harm the ratings for the TV show. But a messy court case very much will. Wasn’t that a parody though? Rather than an adaptation which is what this is more like.

It’s one thing to make some songs to share on TikTok for fun. It’s another to then sell an album and perform sell out concerts. They took it too far.

Ailsa (Veronica) will be departing the show on September 4th. She has honestly been an outstanding Veronica to watch and it’ll leave some big shoes to fill in the role. Ailsa portrayal of this character has been iconic and quite literally beautiful. With stunning vocals and insanely talented acting to match it’s been a privilege to see her grow within this role. Vicki (Ms Flemming) will also be leaving on August 7th before she heads off to join the cast of Mrs Doubtfire. Again Vicki has been incredible in the role with amazing improve skills for the ‘Steve’ part she has often left me in stitches from laughing so much. Brilliant comedic timing and again big shoes to fill. Both these departures mean that after September 4th there will be no original cast member of this run left! Be interesting to see who will be joining with the extended run announcement. I just hope Ms Fletcher isn't going to return to the role of veronica. it would be nice to have a fresh face like Ailsa, she has been absolutely amazing such a breath of fresh air. Will be sad to see vicki leave the role of Ms fleming but excited to see her and Tom in Mrs Doubtfire. Why would she return?

I was in New York a few weeks ago for my first time and we thought we’d check out the queue for TKTS one morning and it was horrific. I’m sure if you got there early enough you could get in line early and beat the queue but you’ll still be waiting around waiting for it to open. And by the time the time you get to the front of the queue they might not even have tickets left for the show you wanted. Other people may have different experiences but the day I went the queue was ridiculous. I think if there’s a show you definitely want to see then book it before you go. Either through the website or TodayTix. You can often find discount codes for shows that use telecharge. Also try the online lotteries. Both me and friend entered the lottery for Come From Away and we both won. I also entered the lucky seat lotteries for the 4 shows they had available and won both Funny Girl and Moulin Rouge. And even though we lost the Into the Woods lottery they sent us a discount code the next day to get cheaper tickets. Hi there I’ve entered a couple of the lucky seats. Hadestown, ITW and BOM What type of seats are they? Three website says might be partial view Unfortunately you don’t find out until you actually pay so it really could be anything. The ones we won for Come From Away were row B but right off to the right hand side so they would be classed as partial view as there were a few small moments where you couldn’t see something. But for $50 it was a great seat.

Les Miserables was released on Christmas Day in the USA. But then we didn’t get it here for another couple of weeks after. So hopefully there won’t be as big of a gap for Wicked.
