I found this OK, but not more. As rumbledoll says, it is whimsical. Visual gaps and increasingly surreal as it continues. Rylance puts in a steady performance, but it does not up there with other performances of his.
Agree though I adored the sequence at the end when {Spoiler - click to view} they talk about how life resembles films (many true statements here that made me laugh out loud) and Rylance does an incredible physical transformation into an old lady. Agreed!

So the mainstream media are still blaming Clinton's loss on third parties and Sanders. They're calling him the Ralph Nader of 2016. Meanwhile they fail to see that Ralph Nader running had only a very small part in Bush' win. Bush won Florida officially by 537 votes. Nader got 97,488 votes in Florida. 7 other candidates polled more than 537, two over 15,000. So third party candidates are likely to have had an effect.

Went over the weekend. An odd show for me, in that at the time I reacted relatively positively, but have grown more negative about it since. As others have said, the two halves are quite different and this did not work for me (though I don't object to it in principle). I liked that it drew on real experiences. However, while some of it touched me, it did not move me as I thought it might.

I once went to a theatre that existed in a vacuum. It really sucked me into what it was doing.

I believe that when Pollicle Dogs and Jellicle Cats is translated into dog its lyrics are quite different. But that's dogs for you - no feline respect.

Well, I was not sure what to expect, but came away feeling very positive. I won't add to earlier comments, which are generally spot on. Just to note that the theatre was busy, but not full. Also, the dynamic pricing seems quite dynamic - I got a couple of £15 tickets in the central block of the circle and looking on the website these are appearing for some future dates.

I liked this. The first Act feels slower, but then it really picks up. The performances are great as noted earlier. Funny, tragic and disturbing.

I wandered past last night to see Baron Fellowes of West Stafford (aka Julian Alexander Kitchener-Fellowes) arriving and getting attention. Coincidentally (as he wrote the book for Half a Sixpence) I was in my way to School of Rock for which he also is credited.

The location is fine for me. More convenient than much of the West End. Also just round the corner from the Unicorn Theatre.

In an interview in the Metro (16 Nov) Harry Hill says how much he enjoyed I Can't Sing, that he has not been put off and that he wants "to do another one".
You have been warned!

Hey, don't diss King Lear With Sheep! That was highly entertaining :-P I heard it wasn't baaaaaddddd. And that the baaaard would have liked it. I'll get me (sheepskin) coat. Was the acting a bit woollen?

Saw this and while I largely agree with mallardo, it felt too short to me, well played though it is. In a way that is a good sign that I wanted more! My only criticism is on direction. I was not convinced the director had thought well enough about how the audience would view the space. A large pillar and the space heading round a corner raised sight line issues and the start of the play has the Joe McGann character sit on a TV in front of the audience for several minutes blocking their view of the action (there was some switching seats and shuffling to try to get round this!).

I feel so sorry for this production. The advance sales are so bad they have take the balcony off sale until Saturday next week. The issue is with their pricing, it's bonkers. They need to look at Show Boat, Bend It, I Can't Sing and many others which closed early...not enough people are prepared to pay top whack for brand new shoes they know nothing about. If they'd done early bookers discounted pricing (this was enough to get me to book Aladdin), or cheaper tickets for the first few weeks to get people in, or even kept the top price around the £65 rather than £75, they may have found themselves a little busier. Totally agree. Except the top price is even higher! Currently it is 25p less than £100 and it will go up to £127.25 next week! An earlier post mentioned the balcony is not for sale for the next week, but it is now back on sale again (for a couple of performances I checked at least). I've already seen this and had a great time. It would be a shame if pricing caused this production to fail.

There does seem to be genuine puzzlement on those FB reviews as to why anyone would go to a musical and not sing along. I suppose until someone explains it, you don't know. Let's see what happens if/when Frozen opens at the Palladium!

It's about maximising revenue. Would they rather have £20 in the box office now than risk an empty seat that night? We forget just how sharp box office teams are. They are actually very bright business people and good salesfolk too. They have to be as their jobs depend on it. I think you're being generous. I've met several idiot box office people who'd rather have an empty seat. Yes. I once just missed out on a dayseat allocation in a theatre far from full, but the box office would not be flexible, even when I said that I was heading down the road to another production I was also interested in which I knew would still have dayseats (which it did).

My November-December theatre binge is actually unbelievable and has been a year in the making. I'm basically cramming twenty-something shows in three continents, in four cities, between late November to Christmas time. Know how you feel. Oct & Nov for me is about 25 shows in 7 countries & 11 cities (so far!)

Is that the magic of theatre or the magic of people? Ooooo that sounds a lot deeper than I was expecting this time of the day. I apologise. I just ate a rich tea biscuit and it went to my head.

A name change is not an exciting announcement... what a let-down haha. It would be exciting if we found it was changing to "The Parsley"
