Viola Davis speech; "we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life". Seriously?

It's a load of old cobblers. Aren't you getting confused with Hobson's Choice?

So while people might at first wonder why Monkey and I have an unhealthy obsession with bondage-set-to-music, eventually they'll learn it's either part of our charm, or see our Tony award winning immersive musical experience. The source for tickets please? I want to get in before all the riff raff.

"Over a year" is quite the period of time to spend observing a group before making a judgement... Unless you happen to be Dian Fossey.

A clique is generally unwelcoming of newcomers. I hope we are not that. Indeed I like the fact that all new members are actively welcomed. Occasionally things go wrong (an example was of a new member being attacked on one of the international threads and leaving), but I hope we are usually welcoming.
Of course, there are conversations and people that take time to get used to. That is inevitable in all forms of social interaction. I still have little idea what goes on in the Wicked thread and a newcomer might wonder why the Dreamgirls thread is mostly about ‘who’s on tonight?’. There are big characters and sometimes abrasive characters, but if anything they stir things up and make the board less cliquey.
If a newcomer comes in all guns blazing on a subject or person, they will inevitably get a reaction from those who possibly feel attacked. This reaction might seem like a clique as it suggests a consensus view from the board. This is not the case as there are plenty of members with different views, or who simply don’t care, who don’t react. Hence perception of a clique and reality are different.
Overall I think we are quite a diverse lot and many of our disagreements in debates are good natured (with the odd exceptions!). We are also very supportive – sharing tips on offers, bookings, website problems, etc. I think, therefore, we are a community, not a clique. A community that likes to grow. But also one which will challenge the views of others! That’s my sort of community.

Reading the reviews/comments (good and bad), it seems like something I might like! So I'll see how next week goes.

Just out. As others have said the staging is quite something. Indeed it is worth noting that there are projections on the stage floor so being able to look down is an advantage.
Performances varied. Kate Fleetwood is good but I was not convinced by all her delivery. Ralf Little was good and Kris Marshall was Kris Marshall. However I did not like Olivia Darnley's performance - seemed artificial.
The play is an interesting concept but I did not get on with the writing. Some dialogue felt forced and not natural to me.
So overall it is worth seeing, but it has issues.

Pleased to hear about the new seats. My derrière is now a lot perkier at the prospect of four hours at the Almeida.

Monkey's site says front row yet to be confirmed so this might be a very recent addition, but I have not been paying close attention! Still, looking forward to comparing this to the Paris production I saw a couple of months ago.

Another rabbit in, of course, Fatal Attraction.
Also the vulture on stage in Testament of Mary which was there beforehand when the audience were invited to wander around the stage but carried off before the performance really got going. Not sure if anyone dared to stroke it (I didn't!).

There's thecillashow.com already doing the rounds to smaller venues. I have not seen it but would be funny to have both on tour at the same time and similar area.

On my storm delayed train home. Excellent production all round. Very much worth seeing. One of the strongest audience reactions I have seen in the Olivier for a while.

A horse in a production of Penelope. It was splashing in water as they had decided to drown the stage as well.

War Horse and Curious Incident....? No, Shakespeare died before he got round to writing those two. They were both new plays. I think you'll find that he did mean to. So personally I treat them as half canon.

Cirque du soleil - why do people feel the need to spend the entire show taking blurry photos and then reviewing them on screen instead of actually watching the show?! Eurgh. Yes I was at this a week or so ago and the number of phones filming etc was mad. Unfortunately they announced no filming or flash, but not no pictures. As a result cameras out and screens on was permitted.

By 2018 the Oliviers will have changed its name to "The MasterCard Awards" with the strap line "credit where credit is due".
