I'm not sure I can believe that, what with all the shows popping in and out as fillers everywhere. And what's going into the savoy after Sunday then?

Well i hope so in a way. I think it's a cheek to workshop it over here, use British actors, then just go ahead and open it in America and use an American cast.

I’ve seen the odd bit of postering in the city centre, Madagascar The Musical mainly, but you’d have no idea that Amelie was on in the city. But on a positive note it’s great to have an alternative large theatre in the city and some of the one night shows are great there. I’m particularly looking forward to Sunday At The Musicals in September after last years genuinely amazing show It is good, especially because a lot of the tours they are taking are the ones you'd have normally had to travel to the Alex in Birmingham to see, so it's good we get them in Leicester now. I think that Curve will start getting the bigger tours in now as well because the capacity is increasing.

Also I was super disappointed and bemused at the lack of, at the very least a generic, programme I'm not sure if this was just a thing for this theatre or the show generally doesn't offer programmes?! Regarding the Haymarket, i do think there is a lack of awareness. I have to say that i didn't know half of the shows they had this year were going there until i looked on the website for something else. There seems to be a lack of communication or advertising or something. Even the theatre itself doesn't seem to really highlight the shows coming up on the building. Though to be fair a lot of the shows that are programmed there are Sell A Door tours, they obviously have some kind of partnership, and unfortunately it is the case that a lot of their touring shows are struggling generally, not just there.

I was the guilty party i'm afraid! It's been corrected.
Yes i'm quite excited for this. Never seen the film but the story seems like something i'd be interested in and it's a Curve show which is my local and i do try and support them. The news today about the music makes it more intriguing!
I mean it's not a musical so i'm guessing it's more incidental music? Unless they do throw a few songs in? Jonny Fines can certainly sing.

I know this sounds silly but they didn't do programmes when I went yesterday and it annoys me because I get a programme for everything I see, as expensive as that is. I was wondering if anyone had one they wouldn't mind sending or world be kind enough to pick one up on the other stops of the tour if they do them? I'd pay obviously!

It might be a bit desperate but I think it's good that a show is being as engaging as they are with things like the kareoke and cast hang outs. I think more shows shoukd do it.

I really liked some of the music in this yesterday so checked out the Broadway cast recording. I have to say our version sounded a whole lot better.

Oh i was there too! I loved it through and found it utterly charming and captivating. I also loved the majority of the music and thought it sounded sensational. Visually stunning too.
I actually sat behind half The Color Purple cast!

Any idea where it’s booked to go into in town? Not sure they’d get away with CRH’s actor muso version if people are paying west end prices. ‘Sunset’ struggled to fill the Comedy and that was a good production...Is Brenda doing Hairspray at the Coliseum? This would get her name out a bit more? Given they both start at the same time, i'd say no, she won't be doing Hairspray.

I'm not sure this will be the same production as the the last tour. I'm not sure whether CRH is involved with this. You'd assume he's be announced as the director along with all this other info given he's also a 'name' yet there is no mention of him in any of the tweets nor on the site?

There's a vid with Whoopi and Brenda on twitter. Whoopi is credited as the Co producer. The part has been rewritten to be older than the previous musical versions of Deloris which Whoopi said she always wanted.

Maybe they have just been told to come off if the revolve doesn't start and that's just the plan.

I have no idea what the reviews have been like both in the professional sense and here on TheatreBoard because i've been avoiding them. But for me, this was fantastic. I wasn't left disappointed by this and it was one i was really looking forward to, so thank goodness for that. The design is really interesting and innovate and visually stunning, it only used i;d say half, if that, the depth of the stage, so it keeps it intimate which i think plays well into this show. The cast were stunning, especially the voices. The show is just beautiful to listen to. Everyone is going to compare T'shan to Cynthia and if you are going to ask me if vocally she was up there with her, i'd say no, but she still was, for me, fantastic. They all were. I especially liked the girl playing Nettie, she, for my money had just about the strongest vocals out of a group of amazing voices and i;d be really interested to see her play Celie actually. I have to say i couldn't have seen Seyi in the role, i said at the time of her casting she reads far too young and after seeing the show i really think T'shan was a better choice. I don't usually cry at shows but i have to say at the end there when Celie is reunited with certain people i was like a flood!
I was disappointed to see some empty seats today and all i;d say is that if you are reading this and trying to decide if to go, please please do. I think the show, the cast, crew, of which this is the young directors first big musical btw and the theatres really deserve our support and coin from attending!

I wonder if he'd be saying the same if he'd been given the exclusive? Or waxing lyrical about it at every opportunity?
I have started to see him in a different light recently unfortunately.

I hope they aren't going all in a bit too fast.
The tour seems very extensive and in some really big venues.

So he lectures about there being a lack of new british musicals/musicals in general opening in London and then goes and opens his own new musical on Broadway? I see.

I've always had the mindset that if i'm not interested in a show then it's irrelevant to me and i'm quite happy for it to run and entertain the audiences it does attract and give vital employment the actors and creatives involved. It always makes me highly uncomfortable to see people actively wanting a show to close or be cancelled. Why? If you don't want to go to the show or it doesn't interest you, what impact does it have on your life if it exists or not? You don't need to be wishing for closures or cancellations. It's just disrespectful and a bit self centred.

The problem is it seems producers just think they can stick her in anything now Or maybe she is just a performer who wants to work constantly and accepts jobs knowing that if she doesn't, they may dry up and her career ends? Of course. And there's no reason why she wouldn't accept roles she's offered, I'm just saying that there are roles that suit her and roles that maybe producers just think about her name for regardless of whether she's suited or not.

There's nothing wrong with her in the right roles. The problem is it seems producers just think they can stick her in anything now.

So Millie and Maiya are leaving to be replaced by Courtney Bowman and Danielle Steers respectively. Both current alternates are leaving and being replaced by the other two new girls.
I'm wondering if Vicki and Courtney are going to get leads on the tour?

Well, you’re right it isn’t a human right, every one here is a guest and with that comes responsibility to be pleasant to other guests. Think of it as going to a dinner party. You’re going to try and get along with the others whilst having lots of interesting conversation and elements of disagreement with a bit of friendly joshing. It would be a boring dinner party indeed if everyone sat there agreeing with each other. Anyway, let's not be telling our valued and long standing members to leave. The mods look after that bit 🙂 I can see the power has gone to your head. Lovely. And i can see that you are very brazen for a new member with only 9 posts to your name. I'd advise you to take a little read of the rules again, please.
