Whenever I have seen the briefings, it has always been mentioned by the health people that education and children being in school is really important not only for their wellbeing but also their health and long term success. I am no education expert, but my partner who used to teach said he always noticed a difference even after the school holidays, so keeping them off indefinitely would not seem to be a good idea. Though in this situation anything can happen ( or was that Mary Poppins?!!)

It also seems to think I'm in Norway. Are you sure you are not the vet in the new All creature's great and small?!! Looks very like the scenery up there. Lovely photo by the way.

Depending on your sense of humour you may find this funny! I love the Royal family, but still found this hilarious.

My worst present was a mini stapler. Yes, really. I am so jealous! No real duff presents here, unless you count the cd soundtrack of Cats the movie! Not listened to it yet as we are still on our Christmas music!

I was expecting Jill Halfpenny at number one, but a great programme. Good to look back and a lovely tribute to Caroline Flack.

Yes it seems like a deal could be announced tomorrow. We could certainly do with some positive news after the briefing today. Still a trade deal and hope by Spring with the vaccination rollout is at least something to hold onto.

We're having a big get together next year after the vaccine instead. I am sure there will be a lot of celebrations after the vaccine.

Happy Christmas and a better 2021 to everyone. This year has not been easy I am sure you all agree. Lets not lose sight of the goal next year of getting more of the things we love back. For those of us missing family over Christmas best wishes and take care and stay safe.

And of course the weather is thick cloud & intermittant rain where I am. It always is when there's something astronomically interesting due to take place. Yes I know it's typical! It's like that in the Midlands too today.

This Nativity popped up on my youtube. I'm not normally a huge fan of kids stuff but this one is so well done . How times have changed with school nativity productions! A reminder of what Christmas is really about.

they ignored the science until it was too late. A member of Nervtag (NEW AND EMERGING RESPIRATORY VIRUS THREATS ADVISORY GROUP) was just on the radio news and he commented that the government had acted quickly and in line with the information they had been given. It's difficult knowing what to believe at times I know but for myself I just try and keep to whatever rules I am given.

I don't think the government would have acted in this way about Christmas if they did not think it was necessary. It is hardly likely to make them more popular. Lets hope it has the desired effect and limits the spread of this new variant.

I wasn't going to be able to see any of my family as they all live away. Not seen my parents since August, and my brother and sister live away too. I will be with my partner and his mother on Christmas Day and I really feel for anyone on their own. If you are on your own i guess you can take some comfort that you are doing your bit to control this virus, not that that will be any comfort I know. We just have to ride this out and as the song goes: Things can only get better. I lived on my own for many years so know what it is like. Just be assured others are thinking of you.

The new seats at the Gillian Lynne look very smart indeed. Maybe it's the angle, but the ones at the front look wider than usual. Do you think you get a free bar of Cadburys on every seat at each performance? The colour would certainly suggest that!

That is one of the funniest things, I have seen all year!!! That is one good thing about being British. We do have the ability to take the Mickey on ourselves and a bit of humour goes a long way at the moment!

With Northern Ireland going into a 6 week lockdown from Boxing Day, it will be a grim start to the New Year for retail hoping to get some income from the Sales! Although having said that online shopping is booming. Think we all just have to hang in there as I am sure lockdown will come our way soon too.
