Sending a prayer to the theatre gods that London's original Mabel, Caroline O'Connor, will be involved in this!

I thoroughly enjoyed the cinema broadcast this afternoon - one of four people in our local cinema! Some fantastic songs & performances.

I saw it last year on broadway with no stunt casting and it's such a great show when its performed well. It's such a shame it's never done in the UK now without celebs. Totally agree. Saw Ruthie & Ute in the original London production which was superb. Some of the subsequent casts were great also. However the dancing and general energy of the last UK tour was so poor I vowed I wouldn't see it again. Really hope there's some proper MT leads in the new tour and that I'll be tempted to go back as it's a fantastic show when done well.

Some of us might have seen Adrian Dunbar in the musical Lady in the Dark with Maria Friedman at the National Theatre in 1997... presuming it's the same person! I can't recall how much he sang in that - will have to dig the cast recording out later.

This probably won’t do macksennett any good, but I got email today announcing a “flash sale” on tickets to Harmony for performances through February 4: $79 for “non-premium” orchestra seats, $49 for “non-premium” mezzanine seats. The sale is good only to 9:59 am New York time tomorrow (Friday, January 5). No discount code is required, and all fees are included. I have already seen the show, so I didn’t look too closely at what’s available, but at a random performance I selected, it looked like there were plenty of $79 orchestra seats available starting at Row M. Thanks - too early for me but I appreciate the sentiment! Bargain price!

Wow that's a great seat. What a bargain! Not going for a few months so it might well not be running, we'll see!

I really enjoyed this. Wasn’t too sure at first, couldn’t see where it was going but then it turned out to be a pretty traditional musical comedy in act one and then gets a lot deeper in act two. Lovely music, and some great performances. They have the best rush deal on Broadway, selling 18 $18 tix a performance - and I got the last one for yesterdays show! Sounds great! I'm enjoying listening to the cast album ATM. Was the Rush ticket a good seat? Might try it on my next trip to NYC...

Clare would normally also do The Little Things You Do Together with Gavin and play Electra in Gimmick. Interesting Jo is doing Ladies Who Lunch, as Janie did it when Clare was off earlier in the run! Janie did the duet with Gavin. I couldn't work out who did Gimmick with Bernadette - I didn't recognise the performers due to the wigs! What a great show though.

Just seen the matinee and Clare was off. Jo Riding did a splendid rendition of The Ladies Who Lunch.
Is there a list of who usually Sings what online, as it's my first time seeing the show and I want to remember who sang what, and the changes due to Clare being off ... Thanks

The shows online store has added a couple of new items. Doesn't look as if they will restock the signature tshirt but they do now have a ladies that lunch one. Also a set of badges (or buttons as they call them) with lyrics on _ I'll drink to that, Im a broadway baby, I'm still here and everything coming up roses. Could be useful to wear as a discrete sign for the sondheimites to recognise themselves at future theatre events. store.playbill.co.uk/oldfriends. Is the programme available anywhere online?

What do we think pricing will be like for this? Baz's article suggests it will be high but I don't think the general public will pay £100+ and it's getting hard to justify that myself and I'm a big fan of the show! Lots of us might be waiting in offers nearer the time!

Thanks all for the comments. Difficult to decide when I loved the Palladium version so much. Sometimes best to stick with the original memory but I'll keep an open mind and wait for the rest of the cast to be announced.

So is this production worth seeing? Loved the production at the Palladium & love the show so it would be good to see it again but have heard varying opinions on quality!

Ha, yes I saw the tour a few weeks ago and also bought the antique brochure - I was amazed it was so out of date but it’s certainly great nostalgia. The theatre was packed the night I saw the show & I have to say it was really well done. Thoroughly recommend this cast if you haven’t seen them yet.

I remember seeing Juliette Caton and enjoyed her performance - does anyone know what she’s been up to since? Matt Rawle was stunning in the lead role and has been fantastic in everything I’ve seen him in since. Including the recent Evita concert?! I didn’t see that concert - I did see him in the production at the Adelphi though. Hope to see him again soon.

I can’t do the date alas & August is a bad month for me to get to London. A shame as I’d like to see this one again.

Are we talking the Leicester & Sadlers Wells run or the subsequent tour also? Leicester and Sadlers Wells only I believe Ah, I might have to do a trip to London as well as see it at my local theatre in that case!

Any offers on for next Saturday matinee? Don’t really want to shell out full price or sit at the back! Day tickets on TodayTix. £25 and reliably available every day. Are they usually good seats? On sale at 10am? Thanks
