Which I qualified by adding "...but enough of us do" and "I reckon". (And it wasn't rewording as much as repeating.) They were both clearly separate to that sentence. Just because they were in the same paragraph doesn't mean that each sentence applies to the next. As for Len's 'act,' the mask slipped enough times to see his true colours, such a relief to see the back of him. I was originally a bit disappointed that Anton didn't get the job but the more I see of Shirley the more I like her. Although, all the names thrown into the ring to replace Len would no doubt have been an improvement, apart from (maybe) Karen Hardy.

I was just rewording your sentence beginning with 'we all.'

No, sorry, I've read the spoiler for years and will continue to do so for as long as they keep up the ridiculous pretence that the Sunday show is live! It means that I don't have to care if I miss the results show or not - I just watch the pro dance on Youtube and avoid all the filler rubbish. I do think that forum has become ridiculous though - I used to regularly post there but I can't stand the self-righteous attitude of many of the people who post in the spoiler thread, so now I just drop in occasionally and look for the result on Sat night/Sun morning. But it's not though, is it? I see it much more as an in-joke for those of us who tune in to Strictly every autumn. I mean, they know that we know, and we know that they know we know, so we all go along with it. And it's not as if it's life or death, is it? It's an entertaining dancing competition! They're just creating a bit of drama for us, making us wait for the results. There can't be one person who watches Strictly regularly that isn't aware of the 'pretence'. With regard to the results show being on Sundays now, it might have contributed to its rise in popularity over recent years. We all thought we wouldn't like it but clearly enough of us do . We all thought we wouldn't like it when Brucie retired, but we did. We're all wondering if it'll ever be the same without Len. But I reckon it'll be better than ever. They've hit upon a winning formula. And 'let's pretend' happens all the time in theatre and we are happy go along with it. Films... TV... it's all just make-believe. Errrr. We all thought we'd like it more when Bruce retired. (Feel a bit bad for saying it so soon after his death but it's true.) Also, as I said earlier, I'm quite optimistic now Len's gone. He could be a right grumpy old man and not in an endearing way.

I don't actively seek out spoilers, but I'm not too bothered if I do come across them. I'm a bit bored of the results show pretending that it's Sunday when everyone knows it's prerecorded. I personally would prefer a shorter live results show later on Saturdays, but I know I might be in the minority there. It used to be didn't it? Or am I imagining that. I love the Sunday show which is why I'm never bothered about getting the spoiler. I agree though that the pretence is annoying. With everyone remembering to have to say 'last night' etc. The judges slip up sometimes.

Clearly I like it. With dramas I tend not to want to hear them but sometimes if I find out what happens it doesn't bother me. For example I'm really behind on How To Get Away With Murder so I have an idea of what's going to happen. It really doesn't matter or spoil my enjoyment and if it's a certain character dying or something then I can prepare myself. I don't think your example holds up though. You don't know what's going to happen in HTGAWM before it's actually broadcast in the U.S. When Strictly is recorded on the Saturday the only people who are meant to know the result are the contestants, the people who work on the programme & an audience selected by the BBC, who as far as I know, are told not to divulge the information. It's not been put into the public domain. Is it always audience members who leak the info or does the site have a mole who works on the production? I think there used to be a mole but now it's just audience members. I could be wrong. I used to try not to find out Game of Thrones spoilers because I'm reading the books - well trying, but what a slog and I'm not convinced it's worth it. Anyway, I love the Strictly spoiler!!! Long may it continue ;-)

Just a quick show of hands, please...
Am I the only person who is seriously irked by the existence of the 'Strictly Spoiler'? I don't see the point of being so obsessed with finding out the result before the Sunday night when it's broadcast. I've read through their site a few times the last couple of years and you'd swear some of the people on there would think they were Edward bloody Snowden. I really don't like how people feel it's so important that they know before everybody else.
What next? We have sites to find out who wins Bake Off after week one, or what's going to happen in the last episode of Doctor Foster before the first one's even aired? Clearly I like it. With dramas I tend not to want to hear them but sometimes if I find out what happens it doesn't bother me. For example I'm really behind on How To Get Away With Murder so I have an idea of what's going to happen. It really doesn't matter or spoil my enjoyment and if it's a certain character dying or something then I can prepare myself.

with all this excitement.....does anyone have approx running time ? Have to sort rail travel to and from London. Very much looking forward to this. I'm not sure. It's going to change a bit throughout the week in theory. If they put every song that had been cut over the years (within reason*) I guess it could be over two and a half hours. *I don't mean literally every single song over the years but just where there used to be a song but now there isn't if that makes sense. For example it would be silly to have He'll Whistle At Me and He Whistled At Me. (I hope it's the latter rather than the former even if it's in the place of He'll Whistle At Me.)

How can you tell if anyone has blocked you on here? I've never blocked anyone on here myself so I'm not sure how it works. I don't think you can really tell, unless you notice someone not replying to you constantly. Maybe if you try to message them too. Basically I don't know. I've blocked people in the past but I've tried to unlock them now. I don't want to know haha.

Shirley Ballas is on The One Show now and she seems lovely. I'll wait and see what she's like as a judge but I'm optimistic. I wasn't much of a fan of Len anyway.

For reference, I dared to say I didn't like something about their post. Nothing blockable by my standards. Are certain performers complete and utter 'snowflakes?' (I hate that word but it really suits here.)

This is more of a Twitter related one but people who constantly complain to companies by @ them but they always seem to put hey at the beginning of their tweet so you see it in their timeline. I think if you've got a complaint, use the appropriate channels and not annoy their social media account The worse is when they .@ them.

That sounds a hell of a lot ruder than it was meant to. I was just trying to illustrate the misuse of -self.

I wasn't going to join this thread but I have to commend d'James and hulmeman for raising the incorrect use of "myself", "yourself", "ourselves" etc. But it is not overuse, it is just plain wrong, and the sad thing is that the people wrongly using these pronouns should really know better. I get the impression that people now think that using "me" or "us" sounds impolite and that it is more courteous to use "myself" and "ourselves", which it is not. Thank yourself! ;-)

Using less and fewer interchangeably. It's everywhere on broadcast media, which makes me concerned at how many don't realise that there's a difference between them. Yes, and 'amount' and 'number' similarly. What annoys me is when people use 'I' when they mean 'me': over-correction. So they say 'This is a present from my wife and I' or 'He showed David and I the letter' when in both cases it should be 'me'. Yes. People overusing 'myself' too.

Double negatives. "I ain't done nothing." Well, if you "haven't" done nothing, then surely you've done something? Do not get me started. I was breaking up with an ex and he texted me 'I ain't even done nothing.' That was the final nail in the coffin!

Have noticed particularly amongst Americans a tendency to say that they *could* care less when they mean couldn't. Don't know why but it drives me insane. Yes. 'I could care less,' so you do care.

Having never been to one of these workshops before how staged are they? I thought it was just a concert presentation so i am surprised to see Arlene Phillips there. I'm pleased Richard Stilgoe and the Lord are there.
