Watched The Father last night. Was quite different to the stage show and a different performance by Hopkins to Pryce in Height of the Storm. Equally as good and used the wonderful music of Ludovico Einaudi

It shows what a dire state our political system is in as with all the negative publicity with Boris and co that Labour are still behind in the polls. ( Sir Keir certainly has his work cut out) Labour party finished now, don't get elected by being less worse. Only the Tory party change the prime minister

I loved the long interview. Electric, brilliantly written and great acting. What a performance by Kelly MacDonald.
When the credits came up I thought it was a short episode. Thought thrown in a forty minute episode as there was an episode seven.
But it was the interview that caused that. Great tv

I had my second jab yesterday- I still can’t believe that just over a year since the first lockdown I am now fully vaccinated. Science is amazing! First vaccination yesterday. Process is really good to get you through

I'm not sure I like the blurring of fact and fiction. First Savile, who may be considered fair game, and now poor Stephen Lawrence and Christopher Alder being combined into one character, which felt insensitive and clumsy. If Jed Mercurio wants to go down that route, then he should go down that route, but do it properly, rather than as a subplot of a subplot. I'm the other way with those stories, I think it good they are being talked about. I think it is good a writer of Jed Mercurio's calibre is writing around the stories though I can see why they would give some reservations.

Thought Jo and Ryan were under surveillance That's true, but even then it still seems very lax to assume. I was doing a Peggs and shouting at the screen to get out of there also

I can suspend my disbelief for a lot of things in Line of Duty. But why on Earth did Kate wait until she was there to phone Steve? For an undercover officer she is remarkably easy to dupe! Jimmy Nesbitt! So many thoughts. Northern Irish, a Corbett/Ted connection? Thought Jo and Ryan were under surveillance

Huw Edwards did the BBC coverage. I was watching the beeb and never saw Nicholas Witchell? What was he doing? He appears to have been designated the BBC's body language expert for the small part of their coverage that descended to Daily Fail levels of banality. I searched after Karloscar's post to try to find out what Witchell did. I wasn't going down any Facebook rabbit holes and my computer has a block against the Daily Mail and Express sites so couldn't click on those. Apart from the above only link I could find was Nick Knowles complaining about comments he made about William and Harry's body language. That the that bit got everyone up in arms? For balance I did find a link to the Morning Star complaining about Witchell fawning over the Royal Family

They timed it nicely to get the sun casting shadows from behind the band onto the grass to form little rhombus shapes. Oh, and Nicholas Witchell is now the most hated snivelling creep in the whole world. Congrats! Why? Didn't watch it

I don't think all 3 will make it out of this without a scratch. I can see Jo being told to kill Kate. Perhaps even a cliffhanger ending not knowing if she lives or dies. Given that this series has a tag line of Lies cost Lives (or something like that) there is going to be a major death. And if this is the final series then that feels even more likely. Mercurio said loads more to come as long as the BBC want them

Young vs old. Us vs them. Me vs you. Stop it. We're all in this together. We've all made different sacrifices. It's a weight on society as a whole. There is nothing productive to be had in divisive attitudes. Leader

My last 'normal' theatres trips, both involving train journeys, were on 29 February and 7 March 2020, when CV was clearly already circulating in the community, even if it wasn't dominating every news bulletin. I wasn't concerned then; I haven't been concerned since; I see no reason for me to become concerned about the future. Perhaps because of the above, and even though I fully intend to have the jab(s) when it's my turn, I am incredibly doubtful about domestic vaccine passports...or certificates...or whatever fluffy euphemism the government finally settles on. As a matter of principle, I will probably find myself having to make a stand, even if that means taking an even longer break from theatre. I have posted elsewhere that when people are separated into groups and pitted against each other, history shows that it never ends well. If anyone now wants to block me, for being uncharacteristically controversial, so be it. Blocked

Once we get to the stage where everyone has been offered the vaccine I think passports are ok, I mean if it's a small piece of paper or plastic that fits in your wallet it's no different to carrying the other things you carry on the daily. I have a feeling they'll be important for a while and over the years gradually fade out organically anyway. Has anyone seen Chris Whitty's quotes this week about how in the future there will be no more lockdowns and the virus will be largely handled like the flu? I think that was always going to be the practical endgame scenario anyway. There's no other way of doing it and now with the vaccine it's much more viable. Didn't Whitty want to run it hot using herd immunity? He's got a few questions to answer when the enquiry comes

I think the fact that this last winter flu has been it's lowest level for years shows that masks do work and i would imagine they may be a norm for the near future in flu season when covid is more rampant too. Although i don't particularly like wearing them I am certainly prepared to do so if it reduces the risk of another outbreak and possibly worse consequences. Yeah this is where I am. Don't really mind wearing the mask, might be less keen in a hot summer though. I think we'll be wearing them for a little longer than what Mark thinks mind. Depends on efficacy, how long the vaccine last and the effect of new strains of the virus

Track list: www.nowmusic.com/albums/now-thats-what-i-call-eurovision/ And no "Party For Everybody" from Russia - major miss. And I don't see Celine Dion on the track list either - . I have woken up in a very pessimistic mood and I can't see how in less than three months the rules are going to allow hundreds/ thousands of people to sit next to one another in an auditorium. Shows that have started rebooking for dates in July and had previously decided they couldn't/didn't want to work with social distancing will inevitably have to postpone/cancel again one social distancing is maintained for the foreseeable future. Yes I also have moments like this. I am a bit torn really. On the one hand with the endless negativity in the news, all the panic now about Europe's 3rd wave and the fact that it feels we have been in this unrelenting lockdown forever, it does seem very hard to imagine theatre with no distancing from 21st June. Also in the UK we have had a pretty solid record of opening booking optimistically then cancelling, rescheduling, repeat ad infinitum. It's exhausting. Nothing on Broadway has taken bookings since this began. But on the other hand, with the vaccine roll out, I kinda think why CAN'T we open in June. Nearly all adults will be vaccinated by then and as far as I can tell there is nothing more that can be done. So if that doesn't work as well as we'd like don't we have to take the hit and 'learn to live with the virus' as people keep saying. As if not when everyone is vaccinated, then when? At some point we have to take the plunge. Is a tricky one - but I do remain hopeful for June. Not wanting to be pessimistic, but... fourth wave surely

He's a grown adult, capable of considering the historical significance, making his own choices, saying "do you know what, this would make me feel uncomfortable, no" or "this isn't right" (as are all his colleagues involved) but instead he gets up and enjoys it. I suppose if someone scheduled in a royal sexual endeavour with an minor they'd be just as obliged to comply. Oh wait. I mean, he could have arrived, seen what the host nation had planned, and said no. But how offensive would that have been to the hosts - a visiting member of royalty basically saying, “Stuff your welcome ceremony!” This from a newspaper article at the time suggests a great deal of local pride in sharing a tradition from Tuvalu: “The islanders had promised the Duke and Duchess would be carried off their aircraft, in keeping with the tradition of carrying visitors who arrive by sea, but the Royal couple had no idea how it would happen until the moment they arrived. “The couple looked delighted when 25 men in traditional Polynesian dress emerged with the home-made double throne, on which they were carried to a tribal hall on the main island of the group for a raucous welcoming ceremony, known as a falekaupule ceremony.” Can nobody on Twitter see how insulting it is to take away the right of people (who happen this time to be people of colour) to greet their guests however they darn well like, instead pointing fingers and crying, “Racist!”? Sorry, but that feels uncomfortably ‘white saviour’ in and of itself. Also, it happened nearly 10 years ago. Everyone involved might do it a bit differently now, I guess. (Or not... traditions can take a while to change!) Fair comment that

That's the point isn't it. Right wing comedy isn't funny Neither is left-wing comedy - look at Nish Kumar's Twitter response "Boris Johnson is a racist and a liar". I mean in what way is that supposed to be amusing ? Even if you agree with it it's not funny. Can't stand the fella. Is he political? Comment in general really

I have no problem with left wing comedy programmes part of the BBC as long there is similar airtime given to comedies that take an opposing view. Isn't providing balance key to all this? Yes satirical news shows will always be largely anti government. That is part of their raison d'etre. But they shouldn't exist to give a political platform for performers. If you want to provide that, you need to offer similar platforms to a whole range of political viewpoints not just from one end of the spectrum. I have never watched The Mash Report as I find Nish Kumar to be insufferable. Don't care about his politics, it's his personality that grates. And the opposing view would be what? Jim Davidson and Roy Chubby Brown mocking the opposition? Mash Report bought right wing comic Geoff Norcott on almost every week. That's the point isn't it. Right wing comedy isn't funny
