You surely have already done the calculation of total cream divided by scones. Simple maths answers question because total cream on hand is always used in it’s entirety Exactly, which is why cream on top is the only way that works! If you use cream like butter there will inevitably be some left over. There needs to be space to pile it on, so use the jam like butter then heap the cream on top, simple! He he No that's where you are going wrong. Please use butter like butter and cream like cream

Weird person. Does need a poll though I don't see how a method that ensures you get more cream than jam is weird - spread the layer of jam then pile the cream as high as you like. Can't do that the other way around! You surely have already done the calculation of total cream divided by scones. Being from Devon, the *true* inventors of the cream tea 😉 I believe in the cream first option. Spread the cream like butter then jam on top. I don’t have the greatest expertise in this area though as I usually just stick to good old salty butter! Next you will be saying you also invented the pasty 😀 It’s true. Devon cream tea first. I saw it on QI

Time is moving on despite our agony and the closer we get to the next general election or even to a full House of Commons ding dong, the more difficult it is for ole Boris. You get judged on the last mistake you made so if next winter turns out to be disaster then….. The problem there is that the British public have always had remarkably short memories, and there’s a great deal of apathy now as well. You would think the police being called out to possible domestic abuse at his house just before the last general election would have ended his career. But no. People didn’t care. Over 127000 dead and people still don’t care. It’s mind boggling. This. We’re a nation of Tories

Wootton is not cut out for serious news, he's a tabloid showbiz hack. I expect they had careers advice on that choice.. “what do you fancy being, Dan?’ ”a tabloid showbiz hack, Sir’ ‘excellent, m’boy, excellent’ Apparently Neil is livid at the amateurish production values. Already had Mike Hunt and Mike Oxlong phone in How did they report Newsnight editor story?

If people choose to wear one that's up to them and they can even be strongly advised by the government, but they should not be mandatory after everyone has had a second dose in September. That's my view and it's not changing. Would have to be very much voluntary. For me those close encounters with humans and definitely for trips to that there London and other crowded metropolitan areas.

When I was in Japan back about two years, I was surprised at how many wore masks in the cities. Absolutely the norm. No covid but just because of usual germs, being close on transport. But worn walking along the street. I suppose we will adopt this…what do you think? I’m going to

I did read that AN interview and so it was quite surprising to me, that despite him saying he wanted to be clear that no "fake news, conspiracy theories or misinformation" would be allowed and anyone doing so would be disciplined, that on their very first day of operating Dan Wootton presented a segment peddling a Covid is a hoax and conspiracy theories angle. Let's wait and see if he gets "disciplined" for that.... My friend told me that in this segment he also talked about no need to lock down travel as covid is an air born disease it travels on it's own. Whilst peddling hoax conspiracies.

And then when September comes, the doomsday lockdown loving 'scientists' (many who have absolutely no background in virology or epidemiology, some of whom are members of the Communist party) will come along demanding full lockdown for many many months to come because COVID is a seasonal respiratory illness. If it doesn't end on 21st June, IT NEVER DOES. I believe this is the post where you “jumped the shark” Outside of anything Nicholas has ever written, obviously, this is my new favourite post on the board. Had to look up phrase, it comes from a Happy Days episode, but I am going to use it. At least three times this week.

Dan Wootton spent five minutes broadcasting 'Covid is a scare story' conspiracy theories. How is that allowed under broadcasting standards? Ooh you said you weren’t watching or talking about it??!! Did you find anything to challenge opinion?

For those who are a leeeetle more open to opinions that might challenge their own it’s channel 236 on Freeview from 8pm sunday 13th June. Nigel Farage is on tonight. There is no opinion in the world that could convince me to agree with him on anything. Also 'open to opinions'? Funny how these rent a gobs aren't open to other opinions when it pertains to the negative outcomes of Brexit that keep on presenting themselves. Perfect start for the channel?

You mean like how the right wingers were so triggered they created their own news channel to broadcast their biased views? You do know it hasn't started yet don't you ? What we do know is that Channel 4 News thought it was just fine for their main news presenter Jon Snow to be filmed chanting "F*** the Tories" with no sanction or reprimand at all. If GB News sticks within that definition of lack of bias then that's fine isn't it ? Did that happen?

In my honest opinion we should just get on with it come the 21st. We've done all we can, now it's just down to individual luck like 90% of the things that can get you in life. To me it seems those people who don't have much of a life anyway are more keen on keeping everyone else down with them, this virus has leveled the playing field for them, brought everyone down to their level. I refuse to let the analy retentive dictate my life. Hell frist thing I may do come the 21st in attend a swingers party, not because I'm into that sort of thing but because I know that just by voicing my attentions, I'm giving someone here a brain aneurysm at the pure thought I can do this and they can't stop me! I don't like this post

I am so over this whole thing and can't wait until this is all over (as in, enough people are vaccinated so that we can actually get back to normal - I know we have to live with this bloody virus in the long run) but I feel like, because all the other steps on the road map went ahead as planned because we were lucky to not have any huge stumbling blocks along the way, that people have taken the 21st June for granted and unfortunately this bloody mutation has come a month or two too early for us, for it to not throw things a little of course. I fully appreciate that it's frustrating for everyone who's jobs hang in the balance, but genuinely asking what is more costly for those businesses, starting up with a very high likelyhood (looking at the current figures) that they will have to roll things back in a few weeks, or waiting another two or three weeks with much better odds that it might really be an irreversible opening step on the road map? Genuine question because I am interested. Not sure but I would like to point out that Lockdowns never 'have to' happen. They are, and should always be seen as, a political choice. Before March 2020, the WHO guidance was much more in line with the idea of focused protection. Has 'focused protection' been used by any country?

Personally I don't know where they get these dates from. Hostage to fortune to give a date. It is a measure of the stupidity of some people in charge to have ever done so. Please don't take this as sticking up for a Tory government. Certainly not this one. But the opposition, the media, the right wing of their party and plenty in the public were pushing for a road map. Guess that is the point several have made to Mark. It's not black and white and the new variants have changed thinking from the original road map. Personally think we are going to carry on with the plan of 21 June, but is obvious the hesitancy now and seeing if anything changes thinking in the lead up to 21 June. That and the government certainly not wanting to give even more freedoms to then withdraw again.

But even though you would prefer to open more can see why there is some hesitancy now though? I do see hesitancy and people have the right to be hesitant. But shouldn't that be up to individuals to make that decision? Nobody is forcing anyone into a full theatre, a nightclub or a crowded tube. There was always predicted to be more cases when things reopened - but the figures now are lower than even the most optimistic of the modelling. Don't the reasons why have nothing to do with giving the individual choice and are much more centrally taken decision?

Aren't things ever changing in a global pandemic? They do change. Vaccines have broken the link between cases and deaths, which is why we have to allow people to make a personal decision to get back to their normal lives. But even though you would prefer to open more can see why there is some hesitancy now though?

Not a great vibe for the audience either, knowing that they’re participating in breaking the law. I’m sure some would revel in it but I’d be asking for my ticket money back based on it being an illegal event. Surely he's just talking BS? For one thing, it would violate any insurance policy and staff safety regulations? First glance at the photo I thought it was a clenched fist salute, closer inspection says no so you're probably right

Hasn't Uncle Victor told you? I thought you were now back on growling terms, but obviously not. bearsofsheffield.com/Aw how lovely! I was born a few minutes walk from the Sheffield Children’s Hospital in a flat above Great Uncle John’s sweet shop. Mum didn’t have time to go to hospital, there were steps to clean! I’ll be sending a couple of quid to the cause ❤️ Nice to see what the poorer distant bears, very.... very distant relations, across the pennines are doing eh Worth the delay

Not me drunk personally but I was watching Yes, Prime Minister in Chichester the day Pompey won the FA Cup.
Sir Humphrey's first rhetorical question is answered by very drunk full kitted Portsmouth fan behind me. His other half was mortified and let him know this is not pantomime. Luckily fell asleep and then they left at half time with very partner apologetic. Mildly amusing looking back
