I didn't realise that. Either guess work or a conspiracy then? I'll let you know if there is a repeat text this weekend Yes guesswork if you got a text on a Saturday before the show even happened! If it was 4pm Sunday that's different as the result is usually known online by Sunday morning. Yeah not that difficult to get lucky with a guess at this stage

What time do they film Strictly? Anyone else get the Sara text at 4pm Saturday? What do you mean what time do they film it? It's live (though I presume on a 5-10 second delay just in case), and the results show is recorded on a Saturday after the vote closes. Most of the pro dances were recorded in the summer though. I didn't realise that. Either guess work or a conspiracy then? I'll let you know if there is a repeat text this weekend

There has only ever been one all male final and Chigs is on the ascendant. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a Chigs, Crystelle and Jurgen final, with Guiseppe getting knocked out next week. I love guiseppe, so I will riot, but I feel like he is waning, and the show loves a journey like Chigs’. Put me down as another joining the pro Giuseppe riot

Just to say that Lizzie said she was celebrating differences - I think her cake should be sold in supermarkets and be a token of celebrating differences - and she was eliminated. Irony in practice. Far, far better it would have been , as they all did well, not to send home anyone and either send home two next time or have a four person final. Not beyond the realm of imagination to work out something. I don't think the programme makers at the time of filming saw what it looked like to send her home this week and that she was in fact an interesting person and baker as shown on the telly. As for Hollywood, got no time for him but yes, he said they were judging overall indicating past performances too ( if he didn’t mean that then why did the editors leave it in? ) thus undermining the very premise of the programme. I totally agree, it seemed a shame to send someone home this week and they could have quite easily had a double eviction next week. At the start of the series I thought the winner would be between Jurgen and Giuseppe but now I think Chigs has a real chance. They have all seemed like lovely people this year and I’ve really enjoyed watching each week 😊 I agree, another good series. Lizzie's purple bin for Paul was inspired. Even more than watching Giuseppe apply his hair band, this was my moment of the series so far. Chigs, Jurgen and Giuseppe would be a great final, just got a sneaky feeling for Crystelle next week.

Standard was really good this week, not often in Bake Off history has the eliminated baker been decent to good. I think it was good she went out on her best bake. It's how I would want to be sent home

If you see smoke rising from the north of London this evening it is me fuming. Just caught up the Bake Off. Giuseppe was not on form but he stays whereas Lizzie’s showstopper was original and it tasted good but she goes. What is the point of a competition in stages if what happens ‘on the night’ doesn’t count? Of course Giuseppe is probably a better baker but not on this occasion. I think Giuseppe was a long way ahead before the showstopper. I think the poor bake stopped him being star baker, but to send Giuseppe home would have been harsh.

If you don't watch the show, you shouldn't be able to vote. You're not that big a fan if you can't be bothered to tune in and actually watch them dance. Is there a cost to voting?

Dan Walker has explained his bizarre lobster routine. He doesn't celebrate Halloween and so requested not to have anything associated with that as part of his routine. So the producers came up with the crustacean alternative. I don't quite understand why you would accept to be part of the show knowing what it entails and involves and then refuse to fully participate in one of the best known themes. To be honest quite a few of the costumes had nothing to do with Halloween either Yeah I thought that. Only saw the Monday breakfast news catch up

Yes, the painting progs are nice. Widows, the film on tonight. Looks good. Didn’t see it in cinema, cos don't go to cinema anymore. Is it any good? I saw it at the cinema as my mate Cynthia was in it. It wasn't my kind of film to be honest and I much preferred the British adaptation of it a few years ago. It's a Linda La Plante book. But I'm sure others will enjoy it. This. Ann Mitchell's Dolly was great. Listened to the audible book recently and Ann Mitchell was reading. I really like the story

Looks like the crisis is over before its begun yet again. What on earth will the press start scaring people with next. Come on Mark, bit early for that declaration.

No one mentioned downhill from H & I whereas uphill from Angel? I wouldn't really call it uphill, it's barely noticeable. Not a difficult or long walk in either direction. Sorry I was just being silly. If you are going via Angel any uphill on the way is offset by an easy journey on the return to Angel

It may be mainly the unvaccinated who are suffering but it's not only them. With my current heart condition I am at an extremely high risk of dying if I catch this, even being double-vaccinated. Until I can get this fixed I don't have the reserve strength to survive any additional load. I'm none too happy with the general attitude in Britain at the moment that with vaccinations available the only people who will die are the ones who kind of deserve it. And bear in mind that until I was diagnosed I thought I was reasonably healthy (I have other health issues but none that increase my Covid19 risk), so many of you out there thinking "I have nothing to worry about" may be very wrong. On top of that, the reason I'm still waiting for treatment is because the hospitals are so busy with Covid-19 cases. What I have is easy to fix but I need to get into a hospital for a day, so all the people who are happy for cases to rise instead of taking simple precautions to fight this are putting me at risk twice over: from the much greater chance of exposure to someone infected and from the greater time I'm vulnerable because I can't get treatment. So I'm really rather disgusted with a government that seems to want to wait and see what happens, given that the last three times they tried that approach it ended up as a disaster. It speaks volumes about the utter incompetence of this government that they expect 100K cases per day during the winter and think the best course of action is to warn people how bad it's going to be instead of, say, taking any action at all to make it less bad. Great post

Can Freya go soon please. Her whiney voice is doing my head in. I've even started mimicking her when she talks and I'm doing a good job too. This. I talk in Freya's whiney voice for at least 36 hours after the show goes out. 'Oh no, my numbers have just come up on the lottery. Oh no, I've just booked my dream holiday...'

German week was a very bizarre choice of theme. Not sure we got any real insight into what German baking is all about. There is still a lot of dead wood to get through until we are left with the real contenders. 5 shows thus far. 3 different star bakers and all of them male. Hard to see beyond Giuseppe and Jurgen for the eventual winner Yep really does look increasingly like a Giuseppe/Jurgen shootout.
