I could see Matt Smith as a potential for the next Emcee, he was great in American Psycho. He seems to have been getting a lot of film work lately though, so probably isn’t available.

Spoilers, drowseychap !! There’s a post on the previous page on how to do them, or if it’s too late to edit maybe BurlyBeaR can help Sorry I didn’t think I had posted spoilers so to speak The cast sheets are all out now and all over social media … people have booked for taboo so I’m sure realise something of the original cast are in it ? Could do without all the !!!! But thanks to burly bear for adding spoiler alert much appreciated don’t want to upset anyone else 👍 No worries, you didn’t upset me - I only mentioned it because people had been asking for spoilers to be used earlier in the thread, I thought better to catch it early given they’d asked. Apologies for the excessive exclamation marks.

Yes I agree, I think he's the perfect presenter for this - you can see he loves his job, he was getting really into singing along to Teenage Dirtbag!

It's not one of my favourite Sondheim shows but I will definitely go and see it. Have seen it twice previously once at Bridewell with, I think, Janie Dee and also at Jermyn Street. I was at both of those too; you're right it was Janie Dee who played Fay at the Bridewell back in 2003. Hapgood – Edward Baker-Duly Fay – Janie Dee Cooley – Mark Heenehan Magruder – Aaron Shirley Shub – James Smillie Cora – Paula Wilcox I just got a shock looking back at the cast of the 2010 Jermyn Street production - I remembered Issy van Randwyck was Cora, but at the time I had no idea who the fabulous Fay was: Hapgood – David Ricardo-Pearce Fay – Rosalie Craig!Cooley – Leo Andrew Magruder – Karl Moffatt Schub – Alistair Robins Cora – Issy van Randwyck

This trailer doesn't suggest it's a musical? No not really… hahaha, I jest of course. I must have seen a TV spot or a teaser trailer as it was much shorter and didn’t have any singing. Looks interesting, thanks for posting the full trailer.

I didn't realise this was a version of the musical until I saw Peter Dinklage interviewed on Graham Norton, the trailer certainly didn't suggest it was a musical!

Good guesses though, you've got me wondering about Lionfish particularly. I've got a suspicion that Traffic Cone might be an older snooker player, perhaps the shape they referred to might be a triangle rather than a cone. I was a bit disappointed with some of the clue reveals for {Spoiler - click to view}Gloria Hunniford... the James Bond reference because she's interviewed almost every actor to play James Bond!?! I'm very intrigued about Robo-Bunny, that must surely be two separate voices. I believe some of the international versions of the show have had multiple persons representing a single character before now, I think the music trio Hanson were featured a while back in the US version. Still, it's such a ridiculous show it continues to be a real tonic to watch. I like how they make an effort with the backing dancers to do a decent routine each time.

BBC iPlayer have added all 3 series of Toast of London. And if you like that and trashy 80s horror, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is on All4 too. How does that work - it was a Channel 4 series ? They are working on a new series of it with Toast in USA - may or may not be good. [...] The new series "Toast of Tinseltown" is being broadcast on BBC2*, so I guess they must have purchased the rights to the previous series' as part of the deal. *4 Jan at 22:00

I was about to say there's a nice tribute to Sondheim with today's Google doodle, but when I clicked through it's for Georges Seurat! Ah well.

I've never been a fan of Dan, but what struck me this week was how much he talked and how little Nadiya spoke. She barely said a word in the pre-dance VT, just listened to Dan mansplaining what football is. Even when Claudia tried to involve her in the post-result chat on Sunday Dan spoke over her (saying how much she talked!). Very odd.

I used to have a girlfriend known as Maxine Who wouldn't wear a mask or take the vaccine When asked to do a home test she got sour As a matter of fact she made the ushers cower
The day we died, old Maxine she did snicker "They must have all had dodgy chests or tickers" Her fault? It couldn't possibly have been Don't dare to challenge her sense of self-esteem
I think of Maxine to this very day I remember how she'd turn to me and spray Coughing and spluttering all over the room Come! See her gloat and bray Life is all Maxine's way, old chum Life is all Maxine's way

Definitely going ahead - they’ve just announced Rachel Grundy will be on as Janet instead of Haley Flaherty. Quite the night for cover roles!
Please do post your reviews as I’m gutted that I had to cancel.

Very sad for the cast and for the audience who had to be turned away. Facebook gossip suggests it was due to a cast injury during warm-up. I guess they're running out of understudies. Hopefully all will be good again for tonight.
I've had to cancel my cinema attendance as I'm full of cold and it wouldn't be right to sneeze and cough around the rest of the audience. Sadly I have no understudy available either! I hope it all works out for everyone this evening, fingers crossed for you all.

Nup, can't do it. Been thinking about it all morning. Can't justify £23.50. It's a screening for Halloween Crikey, which chain is charging £23.50 for a cinema ticket!? It's £15 at our local Vue.

Thing is, many people have seen this show so many times, and even this version of the show several times that it has to promise something a bit special or different to rouse the interest. This doesn’t. I agree and I was surprised when they announced the broadcast. I've still booked to go as it's a different cast - which is just enough of a difference for me to be interested. It will also be good to see a cinema broadcast that's run as standard, given the last one had a rotation of guest narrators for the anniversary. Philip Franks is a great narrator. Now we know there will be some understudies on, my interest has actually increased - I saw Stephen Webb as Frank on the last tour, so it'll be nice to see someone new. Jordan posted a picture on his IG from when he did the cover run in August, he certainly looks the part! Agreed though, it's a horrible double-blow for the cast members who aren't able to perform and won't get to be on the broadcast either.

I recall when ITV announced that JB was no longer going to be a judge on Dancing on Ice, they did mention he'd still be hosting All Star Musicals. A strangely mixed message really.

I just wish charts like this would be broadcast more widely, surely they would help encourage the anti-vaxxers to change their minds. Or at least those "on the fence" who the anti-vaxxers are trying to persuade.

Remember though that the vaccine doesn't stop you catching covid-19, it stops you from getting seriously ill from it.
So the number of hospital admissions and/or deaths is a better indicator of progress and severity (as opposed to the number of positive test cases).

I should confess it wasn’t originally meant as a sincere answer, I was quoting the chant from the pop “classic” Vindaloo.
But now you mention it, I would like to pretend that I meant it sincerely!
