"Make the Most of Your Music" from the re-written 1987 London production of Follies would fit your description (even though it didn't fit the production ) "Hot Patootie" from the Rocky Horror Show - I really love that rock n' roll! "Electric Blues" from HAIR - and old fashioned melllllllll-o-dy...

It seems the original Toxie - Mark Anderson - is heading over to The Grinning Man at Trafalgar Studios.

Astonishingly misinformed, but very amusing!
"Sondheim's sequel to Merrily We Roll Along, a show in which all of the actors are backwards!"
"From the author of Sweeney Todd, which recently starred Johnny Depp as Imelda Staunton."

Yes I think the more recent usage is intended to mean obsessed with theatre... for example I'm so stagey, when a documentary narrator mentioned that "Brazil is famous for its production of oranges & lemons", my first thought was "Ooh I've never heard of that musical".

My nephew is in the chorus for this. I'm gutted that I can't get down to London to see it, but I'm ever so proud of him!

Yikes - it's not being released in cinemas until Friday 13 April 2018! I was hoping for a Hallowe'en treat, I guess it'll have to wait until St Voorhees' Day.

I have no idea how this one passed me by, but it seems Andy Nyman & Jeremy Dyson's fabulous play "Ghost Stories" has been filmed and was recently featured in the London Film Festival. ScreenDaily ArticleGrauniad ReviewFingers crossed for a home cinema release. Preferably with smell-o-vision

Oh yes! I see he's on the cast list of the theatre website. I quite liked that it was a surprise when I saw it in Birmingham, although I suppose this way it stops people from whispering "Is that...?"

Glad they were brave enough to get rid of the interval, I found it broke the tension significantly in Birmingham.

Ooh the potential for the monster in this is rather exciting, imagine Audrey II fully grown amongst the trees...
I liked how they did the Giant's Wife for "Into the Woods", poking her head made of discarded bicycle frames etc. out above the trees. A monster "plant" should be amazing!

EDIT To say that there were quite a few children in the audience, the parents thinking presumably it was a comic book kids show - like Shrek!? I did not feel it suitable at all for kids with the language and some fairly graphic props and choreography! The kids near me were very well behaved though and seemed to love it!! Let's hope those children don't ask their parents if they can see the original film afterwards! I watched it on the train down to London and had to cover my screen at some points to avoid offending any innocent passengers' eyes! Now who fancies taking on musical adaptation of The Greasy Strangler...

I've been confused by those comments too, I went to the preview on 30 September and don't recall anything like that. There was the bit towards the end when (spoiler-ish) the stage hands are visible when they think that the show is over, but I don't remember anything else. Perhaps some last minute additions?
I loved this more than I expected to. The cast are fantastic and the humour really appealed to me. I do enjoy the tawdry Troma film and couldn't imagine how they would make the story palatable to a stage audience, but they've cracked it in my opinion! Although I did miss Toxie's pink tutu 😜
I loved the little nods to other shows too, especially the coffee shop MT-themed menu.

This opens on Thursday and I'm really looking forward to seeing it on Saturday given I missed out the first time around.
It doesn't look like it's selling particularly well, though - hardly surprising at those prices. I got a decent deal via Amazon tickets.
Fingers crossed for them that they get a lot of last minute bookings...

Well this is all quite frustrating... we all seem to be getting slightly different details. I've just had a different response, and it seems not everything they had is even currently available to them!
I'm too angry to respond to them just yet!

The dead don't really die in Adam's world . They therefore retain thir personalities. They can't then all look the same, as generic ghosts, can they? Precisely. If only people would stop being so wraithist.

I love the songs they did for the "New York, New York" film, and that musical end sequence is fifty shades of fabulous. Hey Betty, ya gonna sing tonight?
"Funny Lady" may pale massively in comparison to the original "Funny Girl", but it's worth it for their gorgeous "How Lucky Can You Get?" number.
And I'd give my Balenciaga Scarf to finally get to see a production of "Kiss of the Spider Woman".

Perhaps theatres could start to use a recording of Stewart Lee's opening to his latest show, "Content Provider".
I saw this last night and he starts with a 10 minute rant about not wanting to see us using mobile phones, "because from where I'm standing it lights up your bored little faces".
It got more extreme and quite, quite filthy after that, but I didn't see a single phone in use during the performance!

I'm really excited to be seeing this production in Coventry on Saturday.
I loved it the first time I saw it in 1998, and from the feedback here it sounds like this production captures the original feel of the show.
My husband is also coming to see it, he is completely new to the show so I'm really intrigued as to what he'll make of it.

Ooh that would be good. It should be possible for NT Live - The Rocky Horror Show did a live broadcast (although granted their production scale isn't quite as grand). The actual performance was broadcast live, but the audience arrivals were from the evenings before.

i just went onto the site and got two tickets for October ...i tried yesterday morning at 8:30 and got to the front of the queue but browser threw me out! Ive wanted to see this for 30 years and I am very excited (tragic old show queen) I was at the last night of the last London production and Eartha Kitt had to sing 'I'm still here twice' ...If they had dropped a bomb on the Shaftsbury that night every Gay man in London would have gone to Jesus! That sounds like a fantastic evening - but why did Eartha have to sing it twice?

I have wanted it to be staged somewhere like southwark or menier for a while now with a complete BAN on dressing up and audience participation. JUST so I could see it as it was intended to be seen. Plus I think it would make the piece a lot darker! Oh yes! This is something I've dreamed about for years - I do adore the show, and love dressing up and participating, but I long for a production that takes it back to its roots. I'd love to see a gothic horror version, but I imagine it would be impossible to stop the audience callbacks and dressing up. I think that's why I'll always love the film more than the show (and I do LOVE the show) because it's played serious rather than for laughs, and that makes a huge difference in my opinion. "Shock Treatment" at the King's Head did a good job of audience interaction - never making fun of the audience, just interacting with them. I imagine it would have still been embarrassing if you hate that sort of thing, but they didn't seem to be doing it to make fun of the audience. I remember seeing "One Man, Two Guvnors" in blissful ignorance (before things became more obvious) pitying the audience members and hoping they'd get some sort of compensation!
