I wish she'd covered "C'est la vie (C'est la vie)"... Seriously though I'm really looking forward to this album. Cher's original tweet suggests there will be a final mystery track at the end... imagine if it's a collaboration with ABBA themselves!

I hadn't heard of Oliver Ormson before, but from looks alone (shallow, I know) he looks like he'd make a great Brad.
Can you tell us whose Insta it was, @theatrefan01?

Same here - I was excited to watch the new episode but I'm starting to get frustrated by them... the first two are great with Momma Tammy and that lovely marriage proposal, but the next two are very samey and not particularly moving. I too am surprised how the fab 5 are greeted like old friends, especially given how high-energy they all are - if it were me I'd be scared witless if 5 strangers bounded toward me clutching scissors, avocado and french-tucks! Antoni... bless him, he's not really there for his culinary skills, is he? Episode 1 he watched Momma cook, episode 2 was essentially buying prepared food from a shop... Jonathan continues to be my absolute favourite though... "Do you like my top? Isn't it cute? Are you obsessed with it?"

This looks so tacky... I'm in! Same here! I’ve got a horrible feeling that this is a show that will attract really awful audiences, with the drunks and the loud sing along types. If you can't beat them...

I loved the Donmar Into the Woods, I think it may even have been my first live Sondheim experience. What a cast! I remember thinking Sheridan Smith stole was the show, and this is before she'd even done "Two Pints of Lager..." on TV. I agree there's very little online about this, and even tweeted Sheridan a few years back to ask if she had any memories of it or photos to share, but no response sadly. She's a busy lady now so it was rather a long shot! Thanks very much @caiaphas and dippy for your links, the photos especially. I'd forgotten the Witch's hat was made of the woods, that's a nice design touch. The Narrator wasn't particularly strong, but at the time I wasn't familiar with the source material so his eventual fate was a big shock to me. I love that I've been able to see Jenna Russell as both Cinderella in this production and as Baker's Wife in the Open-Air production. I could be wrong on this, but I seem to recall the "Wolf as Grandma" scene was played out as shadow puppets on a white sheet. I've definitely seen that in one of the ITW productions, I think it was this one. Can anyone else here verify this? I'd love to hear any other details people remember of the Donmar production!

Not the London production, and perhaps this is already common knowledge, but Tracie Bennett mentioned she's been approached to be in an upcoming Broadway production of Company. She mentioned it in passing whilst on hosting duties at the Stephen Sondheim Student Performer of the Year competition last Sunday.passing round a tray of sausage rolls? Ha! I was a gentleman and took two, to save her coming back.

I was there! It was a marathon, but an absolute delight - as you say the standard was excellent. The quality of the performers was top drawer, and the new material for the Stiles & Drewe prize for new composers/lyricists was mainly impressive. I agree with the winner of the best new composition ("You and Me" by Adam Watcher), it was the new song that stuck with me the most and made me want to see the show it might end up in. I have a bias in that my nephew is one of the finalists (Elliott Wooster) so naturally I wanted him to win! The winner Alex Cardall is very talented, his "Buddy's Blues" was highly entertaining. Host Tracie Bennett was hilarious and it was great to see Di Botcher reprise her 'Broadway Baby'. A truly wonderful afternoon, despite being gutted that my nephew didn't win! Lots of photos and rehearsal footage on the (finally re-activated!) Sondheim Society website here: www.sondheimsociety.com/

Possibly so... but hardly surprising since Spandau's peers always used to praise Ross's family.
"Wild boys always shine", they seethed.
Oh dear.

I have a shocking confession to make.
My earworm this morning was "Can't do it alone" from Chicago.
For some 21 years I have been misinterpreting the following line: I always thought that Velma's joke was simply (and only) that she was answering the geography question with a satirical "state of the nation" response.
Geography was never my strong point...!

Does anyone know when the queens film their taking heads VT? Is it during the recording or after?? I think it must be after they've recorded the main episodes of the season, as they're always in the same boy-outfit and often comment on how they were feeling during lip-synchs or after judge's comments etc.

I've been checking the Open Air website every day for a cast announcement!
I'm really excited by this, and I like that they're going in a different direction - I hope they make good use of the outdoor setting.
If you haven't already seen it, do take a look at Vicky Vox's work with DWV. Very naughty, but very funny!

Yes they're definitely purposeful! It seems Lionsgate (/Loinsgate!) were using April Fools in an attempt to get it trending though: Link to tweet

I went to see this last night, it's a great adaptation. The changes work really well for cinema, and there's some great use of sound throughout. Without spoilers, I found some of the sound design was more jarring than it was effective, but that may be because of where I was sat in relation to one of the speakers. I think the stage version was more scary, but that's probably because there's more perceived risk when it's all unfolding in front of you rather than on screen, but it's still got that same eerie atmosphere. Really good performances too, particularly Alex Lawther. Did anyone spot the amusing April Fool's version of the poster that was doing the rounds? Source: Link

Is that definitely drag, though? I thought the photo might just be meant to represent one of the victims as a converted tendril... i guess time will tell.
I keep checking their website daily for a casting announcement... after they did Into The Woods, this was next on my wishlist of "musicals I'd love to see at the Open Air", so whatever their choices I'm excited to see what happens.

Well, this is rather exciting!
This was originally posted on Rocky Horror's UK fanclub website TimeWarp.org.uk on 1 April, and so many (including me) believed it to be their annual April Fool's joke. However, they've since confirmed that it's true, and that the only joke was that they were watching the various fan-sites explode arguing whether it was true or not!
No details yet as to which theatre, but i believe further news is imminent!

I expect you've all seen this before, but the talk of the "Losing My Mind" mash-up reminds me of this fabulous rendition:

The journalist was played by Mark Umbers from Merrily We Roll Along. Very stagey in terms of cast, but the plot was all over the place. I'm very pleased to learn I'm not the only one that was left a confused.
My husband thought they were just setting up for a second series, but I doubt they'd get that cast back together. Personally I don't think it warrants a second series.

🎵 I like the isle of Manhattan... ...But I grew up in Prestatyn! 🎵
More recently I lived in Croydon and then Sutton which helped with my West End habits. Now I live in Leamington Spa so don't get to see as much London theatre these days. Nearby Coventry has won City of Culture 2021, so hopefully the local Belgrade Theatre will start to get some more interesting productions...

Yes! Two or three times I've dreamt I was at a production of CLUE! - a musical version of the Jonathan Lynn film (based on the board game) starring Tim Curry.
I love that film, so somewhere in the windmills of my mind I must be imagining a musical version.
When I wake up I never remember any of the songs/lyrics, but I remember the set is like a dolls-house with the rooms on 3 floors, like looking at the board game from above. The wallpaper in the fake corridors looks like the spaces on the game board. The "secret passageways" allow the players to seemingly move from one floor to another.
All highly impractical, I'm sure - and the sightlines would be a nightmare. So maybe one for The Other Palace... 😉
