It pays to keep checking the royalexchange.co.uk website as tickets do indeed pop up!
VERY excited - I have just booked a seat for this for next Monday (15th April) evening! It is a very long time since I was at the Royal Exchange, but when I lived "up north" I went regularly and saw some great theatre in this very exciting space.
Really looking forward to this......

MOLM is certainly a poor choice of show. Little known here and only the one "hit" number.
However, if they had cast Hugh Jackman it would have sold out!

A slightly different take on the topic.
I now have to avoid revivals of certain musicals which over the years I have seen dozens of times. I appreciate that the younger generation should absolutely have the chance to see these shows for the first time as they are absolute classics but I simply cannot sit through (almost 3 hours of) them again.
Examples being Oklahoma (revived again at Chichester) Fiddler On the Roof (Menier/Playhouse). Annie, Oliver, My Fair Lady. I did see The King & I at the Palladium. A great production with the wonderful Kelli O'Hara but even then the King took an awful long time to die!

It’s a VERY slow burn but great acting and a thought provoking story line is keeping me watching.

The One Show right now. They've threatened to perform at the end of the programme! A complete car crash! So they turned Impossible Dream into a duet in the hope that Kelsey’s dreadful vocal could be disguised!

April Fools stories are very difficult to spot this year as most of the news seems to be an April Fools item and isn't!!

Yes, Marcus Collins left a tour of Hairspray half way through and famously didn't turn up for the first day of rehearsal for a tour of Joseph - he was due to play the Narrator I think. He is currently starting a tour of Hair in Wimbledon this week. I wonder how long he will appear in this?

and I'm a woman who paid good money more than once for the man in concert. Heavens, I read that as "I'm a woman who paid good money more than once for a man in a corset!"

As we all have to die, I like to think that many actors would love to die on stage working and doing what they love. Many actors did of course, Leonard Rossiter, Sidney James, Arthur Lowe, Tommy Cooper (to name a few off the top of my head).
I would love to die watching a show! Quietly, naturally, so not to appear in the bad behaviour thread for selfishly disrupting a performance, but slip away quietly during a "boring bit" and only being discovered when I am the only one in the audience not giving a standing ovation at the end!

Tasers are noisy. Simple sniper shot to the forehead. Snipers posted in the lighting rig. Job done. That's all very well but you would not have any audience left by the end of shows such as Mamma Mia! It would give a whole new meaning to the cast saying after the show - "Well the audience were dead tonight".

Here’s an idea. We could design a leaflet that any of us could hand out to transgressors at the appropriate moment, guiding them to this board followed by a list of bad behaviour examples for any eventuality. Indulging in a bit of leafletting would help those worried about being confrontational, as well as being educational and entertaining at the same time! What a great idea!! A link to the board bad behaviour thread and a theatre etiquette guide. Perhaps someone on here with great design skills could do one which we could download and print a few copies off each time we go to the theatre just in case?

I am afraid I lost my temper and snapped at them, turning suddenly to them and firmly telling them that they werent at home sitting on there sofa, with an expletitive added as well. Not a peep out of them for the remaining 2 hours. Well done you!!! I too will not tolerate bad behaviour if it is in my vicinity. Doing nothing merely enables it!

Dare I be a bit controversial here?
Obviously actors are human and are sometimes unavoidably ill and genuinely hate missing shows. However, IMO, I think there is a generational work ethic issue going on here too.
To answer the thread question directly (that makes a change from going off topic!) I would put the case that the older generation have a stronger work ethic and are more reliable - Patti Lu Pone (69), Angela Lansbury (93), Ian McKellen (79) currently embarking on a huge solo tour, Imelda Staunton (63) Diana Rigg (80) and others.
The younger generation - I am not going to name names - but they know who they are - are more unreliable. Some leading actors in long running musicals (who tend to be younger) seem to perform on a rota and only go on when they feel like it. Martine McCutcheon (already mentioned) was a case in point - although she was absolutely fabulous when I was lucky enough to catch the odd show she did. There are more recent examples though - leading cast actors in Dreamgirls, Hamilton, Phantom etc.

Yes, Jane McDonald would have a whole new take on the show!
"You call these pies? By eck not in Wakefield love! Give me a good steak n kidney any day oft week!"
"Where the eck is that pigeon pie I baked earlier?"
"I could have baked all night, I could have baked all night and still have baked some more....."

Is it just me but I’m finding getting rush seats much more difficult thewe days?
I am assuming it’s because the app is becoming more popular and well known for this deal?

It’s a show of its time really. A bit dated now.
I enjoyed the production at the Vaults in a small immersive venue but did think it would struggle in a large conventional space when the tour was announced.

Two weeks notice is quite usual.
I didn't take to this show at all. It was enough to give you diabetes! But then I am an elderly male and simply not the target market. I felt exactly the same with The Girls at the Phoenix, surrounded by a predominantly female audience lapping it up. It left me cold - as did this.

I was there tonight super show but DEAR GOD Jennifer Saayeng as BOBBIE was terrible. My friends and I were shocked she was so bad! Art and acting are so subjective aren't they? I have seen both Rosalie and Jennifer in the role of Bobbie and I rather liked Jennifers take on the role personally.

Not bad behaviour in the show itself per-se but I kinda got felt up by a stranger when leaving Follies at the National today. So @ryan was at Follies this afternoon?

I'm intrigued as to who the new Celie will be. From Seyi being cast originally they went quite young with her so it will be interesting to see if that was a specific choice or they just liked Seyi and age didn't matter. I wonder if they could even bump someone up from the existing cast? Presumably they had someone in mind in the company to understudy the lead role. Perhaps they may give it her? Although there is still time to re-cast I would have thought. I sincerely hope the replacement is absolutely terrific, gets a big break in this role and has a spectacular career.

The second one, after the opening scene was a little old lady behind me who went 'Oooh he's good' which isn't funny or witty but she was talking about my dear This reminded me of my days in am dram when I was young (a long time ago!) In one play I made my first entrance through the French windows (as you do) and an elderly lady on the front row turned to her friend and said "I don't like him!" Needless to say I did not go into the acting profession!!
