So, anyone who had a future booking for Opening Night that got cancelled what have you filled your slot with? I was supposed to be going before Mean Girls and have just booked for Phantom instead.

Good riddance to this absolute dross 🥂 I tend to avoid threads of shows I don’t like.

fiyero I'm sure that that will feel like a proper occasion - and something you'll remember for many years to come. Quite often, splashing out in that way is well worth the investment. Thanks. I used to be lucky enough to work for a company who sponsored a box and got to go to a few things that the managers didn’t want first dibs on. Also got upgraded at the Earth Prom (though not until I’d already gone all the way to the top seats!) I am sure this will be quite the event!

I joined the waiting room for this at about 7.30 am this morning. When random places were allocated at 9 am I was allocated a queue position of 13,000 and something. It took about an hour and three quarters for me to reach the front of the queue. Luckily the three proms I wanted tickets for weren't of the high demand variety (proms 21, 35 and 45) and my prom planner was processed without issue. Clearly the queue was lengthened by the sheer number of Florence and the Machine fans logging on. It wasn't that long before the message was coming up on my screen that tickets for that prom were selling fast and then sold out. Hope that others on here who were booking had a smooth experience. I usually try to get to at least one prom each year. This time most of the ones that interested me were on dates I couldn't do so i thought I'd go for Sam Smith. Got a box seat for more than ive paid for anything at RAH ever but will hopefully be worth it!

As I mentioned before really enjoyed the show, especially second time round with a better audience. Was encouraged by the man next to me to watch the film, building up the nerve as it is 2.5 hours!
I did find this part of the Wikipedia interesting:
That doesn't sound like the description of a sure fire hit!

The warnings make them sound very restricted - especially given the third row also has (milder) warnings about the high stage! Oh yes, I sat there for wizard of Oz and the warnings were needed! But to me a better deal than rear upper circle!

Front Row Stalls tickets have just been released at £20 each. God bless you! Snapped a ticket Blessings indeed. I was on the fence about this but £20 for front row does it for me!

As for this final curtain song - the way they each take a line, with exaggerated bonhomie (the opposite of the show itself) it's just perfect for the as-yet-unmade but announced 'Muppets On Broadway' with one of those camera-swinging-around numbers. I mean that in a good way! [I'm cueing up the 'they'd be muppets to take it to Broadway' jokes, I know] Opening night played by muppets except Myrtle who is still Sheridan Smith?

I really enjoyed my second visit this afternoon. The audience were much better but I had to chuckle at the pair next to me who arrived in time for the interval!
I try not to pick shows apart anyway but am so glad I saw this properly. As has been mentioned there is a good show in there somewhere. I am certainly not the one to fix it though.
The American man next to me who has seen all the shows at the national and loads of arty plays really enjoyed it to.

I keep reading about drones but surely that is asking for trouble when a CCTV style camera on a pole would work? If you see Jeremy Vine's 'drone' videos it is amazing what can be done with just consumer tech nowadays, let alone what they would have access too.

You know you want to! But hurry, you've got less than 2 weeks to fit it in. I've requested Saturday 11th matinee. Booked Priscilla party in the evening so the reverse of last Saturday! Got confirmation of my seat for Saturday. Was cheeky and asked for stalls so I could experience a different view (as is my want). Got side stalls Row H. Hope the audience is better behaved as I really don't have a 3rd chance to go!

Merch desk. Couple in front devastated at £2 magnets having sold out, as they collect them for their fridge. T-shirts reduced to £15. Who could resist! T-shirt acquired! Interval edit: Nicola Hughes is back and she's killing it. SO goode! I did think the magnets were too cheap!

Well, I enjoyed the show. They tried something new, maybe it didn't really work but there was something there. We had Jennifer Hepburn on for Sarah (the writer) who was amazing. The audience was rubbish, one group loudly debating whether they should leave and another audience member who obviously thought she should join in with the show. They were always loudest at the points where I wanted to concentrate. Annoying. It isn't worth going over what I would change in the show but the main one is it would have been good to know Nancy more before, was she an obsessive fan there every night etc. I am glad I made the effort to squeeze this in. Whether I'll think the same when I make it home around 2am who knows. I've had a quick response to my complaint and they have invited me back. Dilemma.

Strange that the original cast have their last performance this Saturday, the new cast start next Monday and this hasn’t been officially announced yet… All we’ve had are social media posts naming the four new cast members, with no mention of dates at all. I was just going to ask if there is an official cast change date announced yet? Not used to such short announcements!

So onto my review. It's not often I give the venue it's own section but it gets one.
Like a previous show at the Eventim Apollo this is a musical in a gig venue. The main issues earlier were that they weren't theatre people I think. I understand theatres, I can tell where to go etc... in addition to my last post I bought a coke in the second interval and it was just a mini can smashed into a glass. It fizzed right up so was flat but I couldn't be bothered to argue. As has been mentioned sightlines aren't great from the seats, a lot is played to the back of the house, which is the bar and dining area above. I hope they got a good view! Mixed toilets which ruffled a few, 2 blocks so I assume traditionally gender segregated. I luckily found the masculine one!
Onto the show. I loved it. Not many props due to the nature but the costumes didn't disappoint. I have seen this show at The Palace and in Paris and enjoyed it every time. The updates worked well apart from one. Forgive me if I never noticed before but the butch woman who causes trouble in the pub was played in drag by our narrator. That didn't work for me. Felt a bit like Sheridan playing Jacob in Joseph.
The cast gave their all and I couldn't pick a weak link if I tried. The cast seemed age appropriate too which doesn't always happen and was a big enough cast. All the leads were great, I wouldn't want to pick any out for specific praise. The audience participation worked REALLY well this afternoon, don't panic if you don't like that kind of thing though, it is very optional.
Overall I think the economics of this bring it down, not the art. The venue is a bit out of the way, not sure what buzz there has been beyond papering sites but even at capacity the numbers must have been tough with that size cast and additional staff to usher. They too had a tricky job as it isn't as seamless as guys and Dolls. Show 4 stars Cast 5 stars Venue 2 stars

I'm on the dancefloor for this on Saturday matinee as got a significantly cheaper price than with a seat! Not normally my style (theatre without a seat!) but moved Opening Night to the evening so have a spare slot but little money! Anyway, any tips to make the most of it? I'd rather be out of the way than in the middle of the action I think Interval one update. Got very stressed even getting in! Box office wasn't obvious due to all the barriers so went to ticket checker who showed me the way, but still a barrier in the way! Security got annoyed when I moved it. Box office basically said they don't set it up and I have to go back to get my ticket scanned. I opened up the barrier and let myself through. All minor in the grand scheme of things but by the time I'd got back to the ticket checker if had enough! Went for some fresh area. She was lovely and upgraded me to a seat. So glad she did as not sure I'd have coped with being herded around. Not sure what capacity is but we seem to have around 50 seated and maybe 70 standing. I'll do more of a review later but wanted to get that out! Cast great so far!!

Stopping audio recording is a lost battle. It’s rare I’m at a show and I don’t spot someone pushing start/stop on their phone at the appropriate times. No value judgement here, but if someone is messing around with Bluetooth microphones, they should expect to get caught. When I saw Sunset Boulevard I think half the front row were doing unofficial cast recordings. Setting up a full on microphone is another level! I was lucky enough to be in Lisbon recently and decided to be brave and take in a show. 'Laura O Musical'. The show was lovely and brilliant but similar audience behaviour - sweet wrappers and a huge bugbear metal bangles. She also fiddled with her hands a lot so it was like tipping out the cutlery tray every minute or so! My glares were powerless. The ushers were really hot on phones though, upper level ushers pointing them out with lasers so the lower floor ushers could dispatch the offenders.

I noticed the mics and assumed it was a decision for the show. Maybe older audience so more needing the amplification headsets? I know the show I saw started late due to sound issues!
