I noticed the mics and assumed it was a decision for the show. Maybe older audience so more needing the amplification headsets? I know the show I saw started late due to sound issues!

By any chance is there a way I can discover who performed in which roles at the April 9th matinee? I didn’t buy a programme or snap a cast list pic in the foyer! Holly Monty, rest full cast (according to the Mincefluencer's discord)

There were offers around e.g at theatremonkey.com prior to the closing announcement. I imagine they have pulled them so that bookers for late in the run aren't tempted to take the refund and book at a cheaper rate. I'm sure they will be back before the end of the run. 24 Hour offer on Today tix. Just got rear circle for £25 instead of £55 for a Saturday night I really should have checked trains were running before booking. I hope this is worth the rail replacement bus!!

Just wondering - has anyone seen Nic Myers yet as Sally? I saw it last summer and was knocked out by Emily Benjamin's performance so I was wondering how the new alternate Sally measures up (as I might go again in August). I've seen her one and a half times and loved her portrayal!

Just seen they've announced a show, unfortunately the seats my budget would allow are horrendous, but hope to see maybe in the future! Seems to be selling quickly, hopefully more dates to be added. There were a few pillar seats and similar which are worth it if you know what to expect

I can't remember if it's worth it to be seated early for the start of the show. I recall the performances at intermission and the party at the end, but how early should I get in my seat before the show starts? Thanks! There is street ambience before - pretzels being sold to the immersive crowd etc, but nothing to worry about missing from memory.

I guess I won't be seeing it in June then. Should I make an effort to see it? Is there a show I might have seen before and either liked or hated that would be a good barometer? There really aren't any shows like this, and I'm certainly not one to listen to about this as I'm an outlier opinion. ... Thank you so much I will have a good look at my diary for an opportunity!

They've got swathes of tickets to sell before it closes,I suppose “ignore the haters” is a strategy that’s not been tried before so what do they have to lose? I guess I won't be seeing it in June then. Should I make an effort to see it? Is there a show I might have seen before and either liked or hated that would be a good barometer?

And it clarifies that both ticketholders must qualify in their own right, so 2 Blue Light Cards, 1 under 30 and one blue light card etc... Huh. Wonder how they're verifying this. I have no intention of seeing this trash, but was going to use my blue light card to book for a friend. Asking to see the blue light card on arrival (or proof of age, teacher-ness etc...)

As long as it is bright, loud and about trains I think I'll be happy. Starlight Express is definitely not a museum piece that should be performed unchanged! I've only seen touring versions so know others will have an opinion but after seeing how Newsies used the space I am hoping for great spectacle. I'm also excited for young talent on stage, this isn't the same as seeing a 20 year old playing Jean Valjean!

Criteria has changed for the £25 tix it seems. Both ticket holders need to fit the criteria (previously your +1 could be anyone if you weren't going based on age), and Key Workers now defined as those eligible for a Blue Light Card (no mention of teachers/shop workers anymore). That sucks. Not that I had much chance of getting tickets, presale was hard enough

Just announced to be opening at the Gillian Lynne for 4 weeks from 15 August with Aston Merrygold and the Vivienne. Presale 27 March 10am On sale 28 March 10am Thanks for the heads up. I booked some tickets for the family. Pretty good seats in the stalls for £20. I realise it's probably not going to be the level of Lion king/Wicked/Frozen etc. but it's getting harder and harder to find shows for the kids once you've seen the usual suspects. I've gone for a pair of £20 ones. Hope they don't mess up the sightlines too much, I can see a lot off sale too!

Hopefully it's a bad photo, but they all look way too old. I say this with love but seeing the shot of Cady I'd assume she was playing the teacher not the student.

Very oddly there is one Kenwright-show which is very cagey about letting the public know when covers are on - even when it is an alternate on fixed days. Whereas many of the fans would travel specifically to see the sudden cover performing if it was announced beforehand. It's also a show which is not fully hinged on a huge star or anything, so the not being upfront about it seems odd. Tell me it's not true?! It is odd, as posted above I travelled to Eastbourne (about 3 hours on 2 trains) just to see the alternate in another show! Not sure why they keep such secrets

On my way home from this. It’s seat filling again which made for an interesting audience. This was a lot more powerful than I expected. The premise interested me and I knew it wouldn’t be a fun romp but the trigger warnings are very much deserved! (And possibly don’t go far enough). Only 80 minutes but Charithra never leaves the stage. This ‘one girl’ play packs a punch

Do we think theatres should do more to ensure audience members (who wish to know) are better informed of which cast they see? That's why I started the thread! It wasn't about refunds if actor X isn't on, but making sure I can praise actor Y if they are covering!

The secrets are like my experience at Woking, the sign was on a clipboard under the counter in the cloakroom. Not exactly a notification if it took 3 staff to find it for me! I was sat in the upper circle and with the costumes and hair being the same I probably wouldn't have identified that we had a different Nadeem from sight alone. I could tell we had a different Hassan as they have quite different builds! I would have hated if I'd gone on X and said how Matthew had played the role a bit different tonight then found out it wasn't actually him! I know there were signs in the evening when even more covers were on (and I'm sure smashing their parts too!) I wonder who it actually is that puts them up, I went Tuesday night (19th) at Woking and there was a free standing A4 sign next to the door for the rear and front stalls (next to where the runtime was listed) but didn’t go to the upper levels. It was also the cover for Nadeem then so I’m surprised they didn’t just leave it up! Is it the responsibility of FOH or Stage Management? I’m not sure The sheets seemed to be in a pre-show briefing type pile with what looked like timesheets etc... so not sure who prints them but definitely with FoH to display. I didn't look on the way out to see if they were up or not but saw a tweet showing the 4 cover one was up in the evening.

The workshop was about 1:40 Bloody hell they really have butchered it then. What was taken out to reduce the running time so much? At the time I put it down to no set, scenery, costumes etc... my knowledge isn't good enough to compare song for song. But I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. A great fun 1:40 plus interval would be better than longer but not getting anything more if that makes sense. I have only seen tours and the workshop, never the London version to compare to.

LW Theatres website states: Est 2 hours (including 20 mins interval). I agree that seems very short. How long was it at the Victoria Apollo?!? The workshop was about 1:40

Woking again for I Should Be So Lucky matinee. I'd seen on Twitter that covers were on so asked if there was a cast board, then specifically if any covers on. Was told they didn't think any were as there would be a sign by the door. A supervisor said 2 were on when pushed and found the signs on a clipboard. They obviously hadn't bothered to put them up. There was an announcement though so people would at least have had some notification if they cared!

I got a cheap circle pillar seat, sat there for groundhog Day so know what I'm getting E34? if so, I sat there last night. Nothing restricted about that view is there? Pillar intrudes on about 5% of the action. C26 but I'll remember your recommendation.

This is slightly off topic but show that signs and announcements wouldn't have a big impact on behavior! I was at Marwell zoo yesterday. They have a lovely big tropical house that you walk through in a zig-zag. It is one-way. This was strictly enforced during covid but yesterday I noticed so many going the 'wrong' way inside. It irked me, I wondered if it had changed. It hadn't. By the exit door was a massive no entry sign on a fence you had to awkwardly walk around to get in that way and on the way to that a massive EXIT sign and smaller writing directing you to the entrance. So many people were ignoring it!! One family even commented on the people coming out going the wrong way when they were the ones going the wrong way!
Whatever you do people will think it doesn't apply to them!
