I just watched the introductions and the singing on catch-up!

Strangely I quite enjoyed this! Oddly addictive viewing. My first thought for the Hedgehog was Rhydian Roberts - probably totally wrong though. I thought of Rhydian too, with just the singing, but now I've watched the VT I think oxfordsimon is probably right with Jason Manford. I wondered if the dying at 8.30 thing referred to his time in Sweeney Todd?

There's a story in my family of my dad taking us all to one of his summer shows and finding it much bluer than on TV. He made us leave. A bit of googling suggests it might have been Great Yarmouth in 1976 or 1981. My sister and I were probably too innocent to pick up on the jokes anyway!

Trying to convince my family to go to Darlington to see La Ballas... anyone making that trip let me know if it’s any good!! Saw it today. It's fine as a family outing to a traditional panto, possibly not worth travelling far to. They announced at the beginning that Shirley is carrying an injury so wouldn't be dancing "to her full capacity", and you could tell that some scenes had been adapted as a result. There are no stand out singers, so I suspect the casting was done to focus on dance, since George Sampson is Jack. No slosh scene or audience sing-off. Some cute bits with animals, one short UV sequence. So if you want bells and whistles, probably not for you, but the hundreds of primary school kids in the audience loved it!

The Benjamin button they did was Brill, so I'm hoping it's a similar sort of set up to that. This is in the larger Southwark space, though.

I think I posted about this at the time but I saw Gypsy in Chichester from a side seat and was directly in the line of sight of Lara Pulver's horrified face as Imelda belted out Everything's Coming up Roses, and she realised she was the next protégée. So powerful.

I was tempted to go for Todaytix but was wanting to retain some hope of exchanging the tickets if I hit problems with the date. Though in reality it will probably sell out anyway!

Do not despair if you're still queueing. After 2.5 hours I got through and found almost all of the sides of dress circle and slips available on my chosen date. As I suspected yesterday, they weren't available on agency presales.

Judging by the number of us who have made similar remarks, I'm expecting to see "I was pleasantly surprised" as a tagline on their publicity!

Bit of an exhausting journey back from that London. Reminded me that it's hard work going anywhere in November and December. Mixture of people experiences- a positive one, similar to @theatremonkey, of a companion dropping something in a theatre and having someone chase them to return it. An irritating one of someone near me on a train who spent the whole journey phoning various people and telling them all the same stories about her weekend. And then the despairing eye-rolling experience of reading a Facebook thread about Odeon giving away advent calendars at screenings of Frozen. A few samples: "Very disappointed, this wasn't an advent calendar, it was a flat piece of card"; "It's flat with nothing in it, just pictures" and the highlight "False advertising if you ask me". And we wonder why children have a sense of entitlement..

Called into Pure in Victoria and they're giving £1 off hot drinks in the run up to Christmas if you have your own cup. Presumably applies in all their stores. Might help with the Christmas cashflow.

Wishing for the Normal has been one of my "I know it's cheesy but it makes me smile" songs for a while, so I had to give this a go. The dialogue is clunky in places and it could have been trimmed a bit for me but there are some lovely songs in there and the story flowed well enough. Loved Luke Bayer's vocals. Decent sized audience and we were invited to move forward if we wanted.

Just booked A Number in presale. In case this affects anyone else, I kept being told there was only one £18 seat available, yet when I tried one on phone, one on desktop, there were adjacent seats free. It let me book them as separate transactions, so I wonder if they just want a booking fee per tickets for the cheapest level. Of course I'll probably find tomorrow that I could have got them anyway, but there we are- I'm restricted to certain dates so at least I'm sorted.

Caught this in Darlington tonight. Good stalls seat for £20 on a promotion from the theatre for previous bookers. Programme £2.50. (For those within easy reach of Darlington, by the way, the theatre is 10 mins walk from the station at most and is recently refurbished. Worth watching their listings.) I think others have covered my thoughts- I was in need of a distracting night out and this was fun, with lots of energy and some great performers. Jason Manford exceeded my expectations, and considering his character is meant to be a theatre enthusiast who wants to have a go, he fitted it well. Rebecca Lock goes a bit Patti, Andy Coxon is always welcome and Sam Holmes takes the comedy crown. Finally they are working the cast hard here with three double show days.

Disappointed that I didn’t receive any Singles Day cards. Saw a few mentions of Singles Day in my timelines and on investigation found a day specifically for all us singletons. For a change this is a Chinese import, for some reason the day is celebrated on the 11th Mar in the U.K. and therefore will let this year slip. I had an email from Groupon with special discount for singles day on deals including mud chamber for two (no idea), Italian meal for two etc..there were others, admittedly, but it didn't seem well considered!

Doesn't generally apply to the theatre screenings though. My local Vue has the £4.99 any film policy, but is still charging £23 for this.

Lewin Lloyd, son of Jamie. Ah. I think he was in Taboo too, along with Gollum's kid! I was trying to think why I recognised him, and eventually found out he's in Judy too.

Henry is behind me on a train right now. I wasn't sure until he made a phone call which gave enough clues. I was going to ask if anyone had a message, but maybe best not..

Interesting the BBC just showed a trailer for tonight's results show, featuring the couples in Halloween costume and Tess's voice saying "The first couple in the dance off is..". I thought we were supposed to believes that was all about to happen live!

Just had a look on the Facebook page for Kids Week, as that seems to carry on through the year discussing family theatre trips. Someone had asked this question, and Official London Theatre replied: "Hi everyone, we haven't yet released the dates for our New Year Sale but we can tell you that tickets will go on sale from early December. Make sure you're signed up to our emails to be the first to know when the dates go live. You can sign up here:https://officiallondontheatre.com/newsletter"

I enjoyed it and thought it was very well acted in general with Toby Stephens being the weakest link. It's certainly a very interesting play, well written and worth watching. Just rewatched the Eddie Izzard-Victoria Hamilton-Prunella Scales version on youtube and I thought it was better than the current one. Ah thanks for suggesting that. Half way through it right now!
