A quick search suggests Stephen Schwartz was talking about it last September. I don't think the Menier tend to list future shows in the way that, say, the National might though?

Could they not do Baker's Wife from June to August? I keep a list of "upcoming" shows to book and I had Baker's Wife down as early July to early September. I cant remember now if I got the dates from a Menier post or from this Board!

I also saw this from the front row midweek and, after a rough couple of days, it was just lovely to be absorbed in a well-told story, with more humour than I expected. Dr Theatre showing the ability to cross the lights, for sure!

Anyone know what time the performance was on Comic Relief? I watched McFly, and a bit more, than glazed over. I can whizz through it on iplayer. About 9.20

No, nothing like that. I was thinking about how different the experience would have been from the top of the theatre. At least on camera you got to see every mannerism up close. I'm in the "Great performance but not sure why" camp...

And is the view from row B neck ache inducing? I found Row B to be fine, better than expected. A has been removed so there's a gap giving you a nice angle to look across to the stage, not directly up. I think I was lucky with seat 5- I suspect the very edges lose bits and the centre might have more issues with furniture in the way.

The stairs go as high as you can see pretty much. But it's symbolising the rest of the building and, as was said, atmospheric descent more than having lots of action in view. Who decided the character who opens the play should come down a flight of stairs carrying a big basket?!

I got a row B seat when someone here posted that they were going for £39.50, and then row A was taken out, so I was front row. How often do you get to sit front row for the first public performance of a new play? Exciting! I was happy with the view (I could generally see ankles upwards when people were standing and I'm not tall). Occasionally people got "lost" behind bits of set, and I suspect this would affect the centre of the row more, as there was a table and chairs right at the front. There are staircases going very high up but they are more symbolic and you don't need to watch much up there at all. This play very much centres on the female characters, older and younger, with the men largely as foils or comic relief. The young girls were very strong, with their harmony singing, as well as the portrayal of the beginnings of each adult sister's character. From the adults Laura Donnelly will be up for awards I'm sure but I enjoyed Helena Wilson's performance too. I don't want to say too much but I came away thinking about shared experiences and memories which look different to each person - and how we pass on our mess to the next generation.

I remember the *pause* during Ferryman and the ushers trying to keep everyone seated. It was punishing. It's listed as a re entry point but they kept the lights low

No I didn't expect them to put Nigel into next week at this late stage of the competition, even if he were able to dance. But they could just score the others this week and carry all totals over, rather than eliminate anyone. Anyway we will see.

A real shame and quite a problem for the BBC. I wonder if they will just carry the scores forward to next week. Shame they cant use musicals week to fill the gap in the programme with a performance or two but it's a bit late. And as for the 'live" results show...

One thing to note. Maybe I'm naive but I was surprised to be charged a transaction fee and interest when I bought a token with a credit card. They treat it in the same way as a foreign currency purchase. Worth knowing, especially if you think of buying several as gifts.

I sat there for Coriolanus with Tom Hiddleston and had to deal with people squealing with excitement and hyperventilating right behind me when he appeared.

I found it quite moving on It takes two seeing Johannes and Annabel talk about putting together a dance that would honour her late husband. I know these things can feel a bit manipulative but this really didn't . I'll be interested to see how it comes across in the studio when you add in the Tess effect .

Hmmm depending what Krishnan does for couple's choice, and whether voters enjoy it, he could well be in the dance off with Adam? I'd expect the latter to struggle with Rumba. The other tricky one could be Bobby's Argentine tango...time will tell

You're so right alece10 ! Pleased to say I also had a great audience at Old Friends. The pregnant silence during the instrumental at the beginning of Send in the Clowns was so powerful.

Admittedly it was very warm in the theatre I was in yesterday afternoon... but the guy in the couple next to me was asleep and snoring within five minutes of the show starting. His (presumably) wife woke him up but then a few minutes later was asleep and snoring herself. I resorted to a loud throat clearing which mercifully woke her up and they had a good giggle together. She decided to keep herself awake by rummaging in her bag and trying a few different snacks. Before long they were snuggled together both asleep and I tried to tune out the loud breathing. Mercifully they left at the interval...

What’s the best and most reliable way to get decently priced tickets for this? We managed to get £20 tickets for just a few days before closing but the rave reviews have made us think we’ll want to see it more than once. £30 lottery, relying on dynamic pricing, other means? How can we see it without paying fortunes but still getting good seats? Should have booked more than one occasion with the £20 seats *sigh* I've been keeping an eye on one of the weekend performances and prices came down this afternoon. (£77 seat for £47) It's possible they will drop again but for me, that's the point where I "bite" rather than have to keep checking when I'm busy with other things.

A lot of people seem to use the 3 online votes on 3 different couples, at least to begin with. I assume from that, that they switch to someone else as the field narrows and maybe at some point begin to focus on one couple. Would be interesting to know! Certainly when there are lots of names, the voting form gives the impression you should choose three, but you don't have to...

I was interested to see that story a while ago about Les Dennis posting his song list on social media instead of sending it to his agent. It just set me wondering how many of the songs the couples dance to are from the celebrity's wishlist.
