Also the people I know with the most disposable income are strangely enough very busy due to demanding jobs. They haven’t got the time to be going to the theatre all that often. It was hard enough to pin down one of my wealthier friends for one night this month.
Also it’s per ticket, not per purchase. So if you have a large group of friends and split the cost between you, I suppose just book a bunch of shows with large multiples of tickets on one person’s account. But again, who has that much time to be so organised?

I saw that too. Such a rubbish “competition”.

I don't like Game of Thrones. I've never seen it. All I know about it comes from memes. My flat mate is obsessed with it. It’s fine by me as she subscribed us to Now TV purely so she could have Sky Atlantic. I’ve never seen it and have no interest at all. It’s only irritating when groups of friends and colleagues get together to squeal about some new plot point, when all the shows I watch seemingly aren’t anywhere near as popular and I don’t have anyone to talk to about them.

You won't miss much I reckon. Not a lot of action on either side of the stage. Depending on which side you are sitting at you just miss King George having a little dance during act two or George Washington talking to Hamilton a couple of times. Nothing crucial. I love that little dance he does during The Reynolds Pamphlet. One of the funniest things in the show.

I’m shocked that this even happened at all at the BFI Southbank. That place is riddled with people who will laugh at anything and everything. Almost any screening of an old classic film is full of people whom just love to show the rest of the audience how they have understood and enjoyed any slight witty piece of dialogue.
I can’t see how this woman could have been much different to their usual patrons. They’re not even that strict. I saw a screening of Goodfellas there about a year ago and there were groups of people coming in late with pints of beer, then getting up to go to the loo and coming back with more beer. The staff there didn’t mind at all.

So far I’ve only sat in the stalls so I’m also curious about the lighting. I’ve not yet been having seen the entire stage and revolve.
Really it’s just any excuse to go again.
I’m 5’5” so never really had many issues with leg room.
The Harold Pinter theatre in the Upper Circle is the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been. All squashed in, terrible view and unfeasibly hot.

I’m going alone in August for Row D in the Grand Circle purely out of curiosity over the seating. Is that weird?

Oh well I’m looking forward to this. Thought I’d get some Rush tickets in a couple of weeks.
Pretty much just want to see it for Ben Chaplin who seriously impressed me at the NT about 10 years ago in The Reporter.

I think it’s the media that frustrates me more than anything because certain members of the public just don’t bother trying to see things they would otherwise see. That quick Google of something doesn’t even occur to some people.
Misleading media reports in general annoy me, especially when for instance a big concert goes on sale with reports like “Sold out in 2 minutes”. It’s all complete rubbish and done to create a false sense of demand.

I just spent the weekend with some lovely friends of a friend, but talking to them got me more frustrated about the Hamilton ticket situation. They’re fellow film and theatre enthusiasts - one of them even works FOH and Box Office at Royal Albert Hall, so surely she should be savvy about how everything works.
When we got chatting about various productions, when Hamilton came up they were so shocked how I had managed to see it more than once. They were still holding out before even attempting to try for tickets because they’d believed the media reports about it being sold out for the whole booking period.

Just saw this tonight and I am floored. I loved this so much, particularly the young actress playing Tina, who reminded me of a young Kate Hudson. Kim Maresca however and her facial reactions just stole the show.
I think this is definitely one for repeat visits and I have a few more friends who I know will adore it.

Madonna is possibly the worst singer ever to grace the charts. That said, she puts on a damn good show that helps you forget the fact she is actually terrible. See, I’m the opposite on that. Vocally yes she’s below average (now she is but once upon a time she was perfectly fine). Madonna’s back catalogue of songs is astounding in quality and she’s undoubtedly one of the greatest recording stars for a couple of generations of people. Just think she was only 7-8 years into her career when The Immaculate Collection was released and she even had to leave out #1 hits to fill the CD. Her shows on the other hand are horrendous and from my eye she has zero stage presence. To follow on from that, Beyonce is a fantastic live performer, but I would be hesitant to ever call her a living legend because she has barely any memorable hit songs. She’s been around for 20 years including Destiny’s Child and I can’t think of a single song so far that could possibly become some kind of future standard that new generations will be covering and playing for years to come.

There are some good deals on the official site going for May. 40% off across all price bands.
Just booked a couple for myself as I haven’t seen it since 2016.

Crazy. They have probably only sold about half the tickets across the entire run and make this announcement all over social media like it’s a brilliant thing they are doing for people who missed out. Ridiculous marketing it does appear to have been quite a messy announcement/booking what with the social media controversies. Perhaps this was to combat the backlash of people not being able to get a ticket? (Although they sold lots of tickets i didnt think it was a sell out) But this does seem like a good point to make. If I had forked out more money than I wanted to to then only a week later hear theyre releasing more tickets at an affordable price, id be annoyed! I certainly am. I do this embarrassingly stupid thing every so often when I want to see a show a lot more than my friends. I’ll get the tickets and will lie about the cost, as I know they would never come otherwise. Then they pay me and I subsidise the difference.

Maybe what would be nice is a go 5 times get 6th free. Loyalty reward! Seen Starlight Express 103 times. Surely I qualify for a free trip ;-) Oh my! Seriously that’s crazy. That was the first show I ever saw as a child. I’d like to revisit it once as I really don’t remember much, but I thought my 12 times for Wicked was excessive before I joined this board.

Has anyone seen Alex Tomkins on as Dewey? I think he might have had a couple of shows over the last few days. I wondered what his Dewey was like? He was the only one I saw and was just brilliant. Never would have guessed that he was an alternate.

I did have a couple sitting next to me who thought it was perfectly acceptable to sing along (badly). Luckily they only seemed to know about four songs.
I’ve had Meat Loaf in my head for the past two days. Now a little bit disappointed that Life Is A Lemon (and I Want My Money Back) wasn’t sung in full.

That’s still better than when I need to call Virgin Media and they play Robbie Williams’ latest albums on repeat.

Thank you for the bump. I could have missed it otherwise.
Unfortunately the preview dates I can do only have sparse tickets left so had to book after that for 10th August. Really looking forward to this.

What Jukebox musical has ever got initially great reviews? Genuinely asking as I may be wrong. I just don’t remember critics ever raving about many. Maybe Jersey Boys.

We were sat near the back of the stalls last night in Row Y which was a great view. There were however quite a few entire rows that were nearly empty, but it was full enough for a Tuesday night in general. I’d just not expect a new show to be struggling this early on.
My mum actually wanted to leave at the interval but I talked her into staying. We both enjoyed the second act a lot more and did come out smiling at the end!
The first act was a real drag though, apart from Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad. Danielle Steers has a heck of a voice on her! Actually the whole cast does which was extremely impressive. The acting and story on the other hand was atrocious. I think I would have preferred it as a tribute concert. I didn’t even get the Peter Pan connotations until Act 2 where it started to make some kind of sense.

I can’t stand Japanese Anime. Why purposely make it look rubbish? They do know that animation has moved on since the 1940s, right? I know it’s a style, but it’s ugly to look at.

Surely the more Lucozade, the better? It's always advertised by sports people, after all. I only like the regular one. None of that fruit flavoured stuff. It’s my go-to hangover cure (not too often might I add) and really picks me up when I feel ill.
