I have an old hunting horn. I think it's time I learnt to play it. I get up at around 05:00 every morning. Hmmm... (I think the secret is to produce one long flatulent blast every morning, just enough to get a "What was that‽" reaction but not enough to provide an answer to that question.) I'm on my way. If nothing else, 30 years of brass band playing has taught me how to piss the neighbours off.

ETA: Was quite pleased that the title of this thread wasn't to do with the extra leg BurlyBeaR had surgically added last weekend after a particularly heavy night out... Err....that wasn't an extra leg........

Spend some of the weekend pondering how today's late teens / early 20s date. Back in my day (after chaperones, during what is now being cleaned up in #metoo) I remember we sort of nervously asked a lady to the cinema or a drink or something - and actually held a conversation. If it was a really good date, the stammering from both would become proper chat. So, over the weekend, the weather was good, the young couples were out... walking side by side staring at their phones. Do they now text each other throughout? Curious. I mean I can't speak directly for either demographic, but being closer to ones in their 20s, a mix of yes 'app dating' and the same as y'all did...as much as App dating is very much a thing, and yes we all communicate by text a lot more....generally most successful relationships I know are still of the 'friend of a friend asked me out/met at a party' and/or the tried and tested 'we were both drunk at a...' obviously still endures.... Yes we all are centred on our phones, but we're also fully capable of putting them down to have a conversation (or you know other stuff) ...like have a game of Ker-Plunk?

Managed to get my electricity supplier to refund over £300 credit back to my bank account. In addition to the £200 I saved on my wife's car insurance and fixing the tumble drier so that clothes dry in 75mins instead of 3 hours it's been a pretty good few days. Octopus energy if anyone was wondering. I have only good things to say about them since I switched to them last year saving £20 per month. Drops further this year as well.

I couldn't locate Mother-Garside in the house or garden, odd I thought, maybe she's down the drive doing something....I found her locked in the back seat of the car, where she'd been locked in...by the child locks. But how long was she there for? ?

This show is so relaxing. Love it so much. Esme said something that piqued my interest. When they were describing the gotchas in the worker’s jacket challenge, Esme said that the collar was ‘the first bit of tailoring’ that the contestants were being asked to do. What’s the distinction between tailoring and sewing? What is it about a collar that makes it tailoring? .......silence.............

I must admit when watching people trying to find seats I do find the number of people too stupid to follow the alphabet then a number amusing/worrying/ridiculous! Being confused by the letter-number combo is one thing. But how about this. We arrived at our Lyttleton stalls row A seats to find them occupied. I politely told the couple they were in our seats. The wife, NOT politely - in fact in a very snooty "go away you silly man" type of way - flapped her ticket in my face and pointed out they had the correct seat numbers. Which in a sense they did, but oh the satisfaction on pointing to the word CIRCLE and then pointing up and behind them to show and calmly inform her where they should be. I mean, if she hadn't been so shirty about it... They snatched up their things and wordlessly left at speed. Whoever checked their tickets should have spotted it but ultimately they're THEIR tickets. Ooh good work Backdrifter. Potential grammatical banana skin their they're there!

I feel compelled to ask what is a ‘boomerang’ because I’m thinking it’s not the curvy thing thrown by Australians? Instagram feature, used for videos. Damn!, was hoping it was going to be the next one in the Tofu, Banana, Cucumber TV series......

Somewhat tongue in cheek discussion reminded me that yesterday was a decent day, I found out that my play should *touch wood* be on in Cardiff in September, pending details with venue. And very soon I get to audition a pack of actors. Is that what you call a group of them? a posse? a flock? ..a flounce

Have seen him twice in the last 2 years (Colwyn Bay and Rhyl)on mini-tours of Welsh venues each time with a 7/8 piece band. His MD, John Quirk is a great foil for him as well and does some classy arrangements. Excellent concerts with a varied repertoire and wonderful audience interaction. A real top class entertainer. He's good follow on Twitter as well.

I suspect Les Mis couldn't be more than six episodes for cost reasons and to an extent scheduling reasons. people like me who will watch 6 episodes, but may say no to a longer commitment? Andrew Davies' latest has just started filming, and it's an 8 episode adaptation of Austen's unfinished Sanditon for ITV (just 11 chapters, as Austen left it!). The BBC's Poldark gets 8 to 10 hours per series. Ah well. I predict a confusing ending to the final episode....

Sounds like it’s downloaded the webpage than the attachment. Check the file size (right click> properties) your probably looking for something around 100MB, if it’s KB it’ll be the wrong thing downloaded. Is this on a mobile device or computer BTW? On mobile phone but to be honest I've now downloaded it on Spotify so I'll probably just ignore it. Thanks though.

Have purchased John Owen-Jones' new album (via Pledge music) for which a download link has been sent. It says click on the .zip file but on my android device it appears as a .html file. I believe I need a third party unzip app, File Manager by ASUS is suggested on the instructions. Is this correct/OK/safe. Are there better alternative apps. I'm always a bit nervous with add-on apps to be honest. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Seeing it in Edinburgh this weekend - only heard rave reviews from friends. I've only seen the original - ok 10 times - but looking forward to the new production. I think this might well be my last visit though, I do love it, but how many times can you see the same show? F*%#ing hundreds according to some people on here!!

Loving this thread. Keep it up folks.
Another Genesis fan here but didn't get into them til late 70s. Haven't actually heard much of their early 70s albums. Seconds Out and...and then there were 3 were my first. Loved double live albums in the 70s. I love 10cc Live and let Live, Dire Straits Alchemy but Seconds Out is my favourite particularly Afterglow with the fantastic drumming at the end. *Searches through the vinyl cupboard for old times sake*

Watched a Sky Arts program on the Doobie Brothers. What a band they were/are. Only knew the stuff with Michael McDonald and never knew their history or back catalogue. Fabulous harmonies and seemingly nice (and still coherent) guys.
