I really don't think the creative team knew about Masked Singer before casting her. None of them are anywhere near high up enough to be let into the secret, especially as the whole show seems to have revolved around this covert operation of ultimate security! However, I agree that after having listening to her these past few weeks, I’m definitely not surprised she got the job! I wonder whether she told the cast and crew when her name began circulating to do with the show or still kept it secret. Other celebs said they didn't even tell their parents or kids!!

Yes I totally get you viserys , it's a good point well made! Personally I don't find that the whole group rejects her in the Rec Room scene - actually the opposite. They want Sandy to stay and Frenchy says “don't mind her, Sandy” when Rizzo is the one continually ripping into her. The revelation that Rizzo might be pregnant and her subsequent outburst is what breaks that party up. This is all according to the stage show anyway, not the film! And I find that her “sexy” reveal seems to be tailored purely towards Danny. Maybe Rizzo and Marty act and/or dress in that fashion but I wouldn't have said Frenchy & Jan do so the whole fitting in with the Pink Ladies thing I also don't fully buy. But as I’ve said, it's purely my opinion and what you've said certainly makes a lot of sense. Don't wanna derail this thread much further - who else was in the workshop cast for this and do we think any of them will make an appearance in the show too?

But doesnt Danny make an effort to change to? he does in the film anyway. Let's face it girls/women have been having makeovers since practically the dawn of time for one reason or another and men are now catching up in different ways (e.g. working out, fashion etc.). And sometimes you meet someone or a situation occurs that makes you realise you're stuck in a rut/in comfort zone and you can (and want) to be better or different and gives you the confidence to do that. I get where people are coming from but change doesn't always equal bad and staying yourself doesnt always equal good. This is Grease. It's not that deep, unfortunately. Anyway - he tries to become a jock to impress her maybe? But other than that, he ignores her at school to protect his image, finds it hard to impress her without looking weak in front of the other T-Birds, he doesn’t stop when Sandy says no in the drive-in, yet Sandy still thinks her image is the problem so changes to suit Danny. I'd be interested to hear female perspective on this as I do usually find that it's men who believe Sandy's transformation is for herself, not for Danny. Sorry for derailing the Cinderella thread too haha

Grease tackled the issue of changing yourself to please a man decades ago. Do you think? I always thought it was more about Sandy developing herself as a person and taking control. Danny treated her like a doormat, she wasn't going to be pushed around so she found her inner strength. That she went after him again was either a mistake or a chance to engage in the relationship afresh on her terms this time. "Summer Nights" showed she always had his measure anyway, but didn't know how to run things her way. Psychoanalysis of "Grease" on a Saturday morning. Nobody can claim Theatreboard is just for the frivolous. I'd say this was wishful thinking! When it comes down to it (having done the show), Sandy changes to make herself more desirable to Danny. When you consider when this was written and the times and experiences it was written about, it seems like claiming that Sandy isn't changing to please a boy is just making excuses for the fact that it's a bit of an icky plot point in an iconic and widely-loved show (not talking about TheatreBoard here!). Just my opinion anyway! We all need something to think about on a Saturday morning 😂

Ah that's good to know, thank you! Can we get the word out please, homophobia is cured, there's no need for any more famous people to come out, thanks everyone! What does celebrities coming out have to do with homophobia *shrug Not even going to dignify that question with even trying to answer it. You know how the two connect, you just want a rise from someone as you usually do from the large majority of your posts on this board. If you don't know how the two connect, well then that's even more worrying bordering on ignorance.

Very true. But equally, seeing famous people come out can be really inspiring to other people. Tom Daley was inundated with messages from people saying how much his coming out video helped them. I completely agree it should be purely down to the individual how/when/if they come out, but it can also be very helpful to others in terms of visibility and representation. Enough famous people have come out already, there is more than enough 'visibility'. Ah that's good to know, thank you! Can we get the word out please, homophobia is cured, there's no need for any more famous people to come out, thanks everyone!

Rebel's speech at the BAFTA's was amazing, and was subsequently widely shared on social media over the days after it aired and for me, was probably the highlight of the whole evening! Making jokes about the film bares no correlation to her as a person whatsoever. The film absolutely flopped - no one was really any good in it, so it can't be down to Wilson and Corden (if anything I’d say Ray Winston nailed the coffin shut for me 😂), they're just the only people who have taken the mic out of it, good for them. Hardly life or death!

I mean I’m hoping it'll be a little better than the bootleg 😂
With it being distributed by Disney I’m hoping that it'll be of the filmic quality of Newsies!

Entered the lottery today and won! Had a little search around the dates to see what seats I could get, was offered front row for a thurs matinee but thought it would be a touch too close so opted for row d stalls for a wed eve, which I only found out after is family night so a little trepidatious haha but on the other hand a 7pm start time for an almost 3hr show is quite nice!

Michael Vinsen is Corny Collins! The cast announcement mentioned all the actors but failed to specify which of them are Seaweed, Penny and Corny which seems weird, but twitter has all the info!!

I maintain that Monster is Cee Lo Green. Daisy seems certain to be Kelis, as she trained in France as a chef. Fox has got to be Denise Van Outen - you can hear the Essex accent and one of her clues that might or might not be true was that her body has won awards, in 1999 DVO won Rear of the Year!

Well I have to admit it's somewhat of a guilty pleasure in my household and I think we're invested enough now and need to find out who everyone is!! There are reveal compilations of the U.S version where they managed to get celebs such as Rikki Lake, La Toya Jackson, Rumer Willis, Gladys Knight, Donny Osmond, Paul Shaffer, Raven-Symoné, Kelly Osbourne, Patti LaBelle, Michelle Williams (off of Destiny's Child), Ana Gasteyer, Seal and Wayne Brady. Yes.........really!!!!!!! I cannot WAIT to see who the UK has got in 😂

Has anyone else caught this? I know it only came out on New Years Day in the UK but me and a couple of friends were intrigued by the trailer so went to check it out. Oh my lord this was truly one of the most stunning films I‘ve ever seen. It's incredibly funny - I was genuinely laughing out loud from the very beginning until the end, with gasps and tears of heartbreak, tragedy and sadness in between. A real rollercoaster of emotions, it really is beautiful. Some will see it as controversial, especially with its language (not profanity but in its descriptions of groups of people concerned at that time), but we are laughing at the fact that these things are what Nazi's actually believed. It is firmly an anti-war, anti-hate film done with tremendous irreverent and absurd humor. It's stylistically beautiful and all the performances are fantastic, especially Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo. Taika Waititi is a very clever man indeed.

Had such a brilliant laugh watching this tonight with my Mum. Just what we needed at this time of year after the year it’s been!! Big fan of the Mischief lot and I think their TV stuff works best in short half hour bursts like this. Excited for the rest of the series!

Saw it today I honestly loved everything about it, more than lives up to the 97% on rotten tomatoes for me! I'm a big Murder Mystery fan and I loved the take on the genre. Lovely writing (I laughed out loud loads, as did the majority of the screen), gorgeous cinematography, well directed, really fun twists and all the ensemble cast give great performances in my opinion. It looks like they had a lot of fun making it. So happy I saw it. The little brochure in the Everyman says if you loved Grand Budapest Hotel, you'll love this (I did and I do) - and on the whole I can see what they mean.

I’m so excited for this film. Loved the show when I saw it. Will the songs be the same from the show or will it be a new score It's an adaptation of the musical and based on what the trailer shows, it will be the songs from the stage show. Whether or not LMM and whoever else has written a new song to be eligible for an Oscar nomination remains to be seen - unless that's been confirmed or denied anywhere?!

So the duet with Bradley and Michael was in the same key as the actual song when performed in the show, but Bradley sang some higher harmonies along with Michael for the encore because it was a duet and, well, he can! Obviously I can't say for sure as I'm not in the rehearsal room but I should think he'll most certainly be singing it as written when the production reopens! [/quote I loved the harmonies then 😍 I have zero music knowledge but Claude Schoenberg did - I believe - in his speech say that Bradley sang it as he intended it to be sung - so I incorrectly assumed he sang it in a different key - I’m at an Encore performance tonight so I’ll listen more closely to Claude’s speech 😀😀 They were gorgeous and it just comes to easily to Bradley! He was without a doubt one of my stand-out favourites from the concert. So I’m also very excited to see his Javert at the Sondheim (I didn’t see him when he last did the role!). Same as you, I can’t quite remember CMS’ speech verbatim, but I do remember him making a joking quip asking why “Bradley had all the high notes and Michael didn’t” (or words to that effect), so maybe that was referencing the harmonies!

Same thread, new title. So who’s going to opening night? I am - looking forward to hearing Bradley Jayden’s interpretation of ‘Stars’ and wondering if he will sing it in the higher key he demonstrated on Monday 🤞 So the duet with Bradley and Michael was in the same key as the actual song when performed in the show, but Bradley sang some higher harmonies along with Michael for the encore because it was a duet and, well, he can! Obviously I can't say for sure as I'm not in the rehearsal room but I should think he'll most certainly be singing it as written when the production reopens!

I’m keeping everything crossed that Stone isn’t going to be a “celeb” too. They really need someone who is a musical theatre performer for that role. The fact they’re holding back on announcing Stone scares me a little!
