From what I've seen I actually feel like her dancing and facial expressions are too much. There is being good and then there is looking like you have just consumed too much sugar. I'd definitely prefer an Annie who can act and sing well.

Thanks for the reply 😊. I thought as much - I'll just have to book a ticket and hope for the best. Did you watch the Theatre Live Lounge by any chance? 😂 Yes I did 😂😂

Does anyone have any idea if the girls playing Annie do certain days/performances? One of the Annies sounds horrible and I would prefer not to has to listen to those strained vocals.

Plenty of empty seats at the Bristol Hippodrome today, however the audience, myself included, loved the show. I don't think there is a weak link in the show, however the standouts for me were Katherine Glover, Jenny Fitzpatrick and Lucas Rush who was hilarious as Mrs Meers.

I'm seeing this today after years of wanting to see a professional production. Here's hoping it's decent.

I made the mistake of going to today's matinee too. Today has to be, without a doubt my worst theatre experience to date, and I include the tour of Wonderland when I say that. However this experience was not due to the performance. Today's audience were the worst audience I've ever sat amongst. Danielle Hope couldn't be heard throughout 'hopelessly devoted to you' and I'm sure I have bruises from the woman next to me continuously swaying side to side and banging into me. This audience has put me off ever returning to the show.

I remember seeing this years ago with Lauren Samuels as Sandy and loving it. I didn't love it as much this afternoon. Danielle Hope was good as Sandy acting wise but not quite as good as Lauren Samuels vocally. Tom Parker was fine as Danny - did the job but nothing special. Louisa as Rizzo wasn't anything special either, stronger vocals would have helped. The rest of the cast were quite good too and did the best with what they had. Also - I can't believe I didn't realise how weak the plot is before.

I'm going to see this when I'm in Bristol next week. I'd love to see Gabriella as Sandy.

Sophie doesn't look like she has a funny bone in her body. She has a lovely voice from what I remember but I really can't imagine her bringing much humour to the role I'm sure she has demonstrated she has in auditions. I doubt the producers are just hoping for the best! 😂 Anyone can imitate but not everyone is naturally funny.

Alice taking over as Elphaba was expected. I just hope she starts using a bit more control as many of her notes during defying gravity sound a bit rough or like her voice could crack. All in all, really uninspired casting.

I've just booked tickets to see this. It won't make up for me missing the final performance in London but it might ease the pain a little.

I think there are quite a few. A few of the recordings in English include: the original Broadway cast, original London cast, original Australian cast, 30th anniversary tour cast recording and the recent Broadway revival cast. There are quite a few others as well.

I dunno, this is the first major revival in about 20 years of the show in London, and also there has never been a London Cast Recording so its not completely out of the possibilities is it? There is a London cast recording from 1978 with Ann-Marie Gwatkin as Annie and Shiela Hancock as Miss Hannigan 😉. Edit: someone got there before me 😂

I thought some of the editing was a bit sloppy but the overall recording is certainly better than a few other recordings. Lily sounds just as horrible on this recording as she did live. I do agree that Liisi doesn't sound her best on this recording - she was amazing live.

I don't remember much but even I saw this, I thought the Cheshire cat and the actor were both very annoying.

I'm so glad I missed the drama yesterday as I'm sure I would have been involved. I know I can be responsible for a bitchy comment or two but in future, I promise I'll try to bite my tongue, or in this case, my fingers.

I thought Liisi was amazing when I saw the show. I went to the show expecting Amber to be amazing (which she was) and left amazed by Liisi's voice.

I think that song was too big for her. Or maybe she just jumped in the deep end and didn't really build the song up, either way - not for me.

After years of wanting to see a professional production of this, I finally have. It was a fun show with a good cast, nice set and decent costumes. I'm not very good at reviews but I will give a few opinions on some of the performers.
Jon Robyns - Amazing. Very talented. Nothing negative to say.
Cassie Compton - A plank of wood that only comes to life when singing. Terrible acting and no real attempt at an American accent. Good singing voice.
Roxanne Pallett - Fine. Decent accent, acting was fine, singing was fine, although I think the ensemble helped her sing the end of 'Right in front of your eyes.' Her wig throughout the show looked terrible - like a cheap wig you get for a hen party.
Ray Quinn - After seeing Ray in X Factor, anything this man did made me feel ill. However my opinion has changed. Ray does deserve credit as he is quite a good performer, and along with Jon was one of the strongest in the cast, with one of the best American accents.
Ruth Madoc - after seeing Ruth in this and the tour of Annie I have come to the conclusion that the only role this woman can play is Ruth Madoc.
Tara Verloop - Very impressive for such a small part. In my opinion, the strongest female performer in the cast.
Samuel Holmes - I didn't get him at all. Didn't really make much use of any possible humour within the role.
Overall - glad I have seen the show but do not need to see it again.
(And yes, it was better than Wonderland, in my own opinion of course.)

Ooh really? What makes you prefer the circle if you don't mind me asking? I've always found that if I'm not in the stalls I find it almost impossible to enjoy - or feel fully immersed in - what's going on. I think it was because any time I have seen the show previously I have always been sitting very close, like really close. Sitting at the back of the circle let me take in more of the show and let me enjoy it more. Most shows I do love to be sitting up close though.
