I’ve always thought the film Brigadoon was darn near perfect. The live performance was so long ago I doubt if there is anyone who could do a comparison. I’m not sure if revivals would count

Will Andrew Polec be continuing for the extension? I really would like to see him so the Wednesday matinee I had been thinking of probably wouldn't be a good choice. I've been booking so many plays for my 3 week vacation and have very few evenings open now.
Planning theatre for a vacation is a real exercise in logistics.
I get into Gatwick 8am Sat 27 Oct. I went ahead and booked Macbeth at Barbican for that evening (£10 tickets). Then, just in case I was too tired to appreciate it, I booked Macbeth again for Fri 9 Nov. Again £10 so I knew I wouldn't be losing much if I ended up not going to one of them. Plus I was remembering last year when I saw Andrew Scott in Hamlet and was wishing I had booked it twice. From the reviews and what I've read here I don't think I need to worry about seeing this production twice.
So I could book Friday 9 Nov. So if he is still in it that should be a good time to see him perform. Right?

No Saturday matinee discounts for September yet, and I've not seen it discounted. You could beat the £50 price, but not the view and experience - if you choose carefully. I'm looking at A19 or A20. Looks like Stalls A is open performance I'm looking at. Would you recommend other seats for an up and close experience? Thanks

I was on the fence about seeing this on upcoming London vacation BUT I'm listening to OCR right now and I am SO there!. Just checking out seats and prices. Lots of seats available for the 7 Nov matinee performance but wow the prices.
I'm looking at A19. Front and center on aisle. £45. Advice please if this is a good place/price to see for first time to see show. I've never been to Dominion so don't have any experience to go with.

Charlie Stemp moving up to the role of Cornelius, perhaps? Cornelius is 32 in play. Adore Charlie but that would not work

I second TM’s post. I once sat in row B and it was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I’ve had at the theatre. There’s no rake, the legroom is poor and you’re in close proximity to the audience members either side. Given the choice I now always select A for the same price, as two out of three problems are removed. Oh no. I already had pulled the trigger on the tickets before I read your posts. Oh well, live and learn. I wonder if NT would let me turn ticket in to get better one?

There is a £18 ticket for War Horse on a date that is good for me. But it is Stalls B19 and the reviews of the seat just doesn't sound very good. I do have short legs so I've got that going for me.

Went to matinee yesterday. Bette and David have such a connection between them. It was just so wonderful to see them together. There are two scenes where Bette has a chance to really ham it up and in one of them David was having to hide his face and then he turned the table on her and she was hiding behind her feather fan. So much fun to watch. Charlie was incredible. He came out to Stage Door afterward and again, I got flustered and he was so sweet. He took the pic of the two of us. It happened when I saw him in Half a SixPence in London too. I don't take them very often so I'm not too swift with them. He Melanie Moore and, I think, Alli Mauzey, were the only main cast members to come out. He was the one I most wanted to see anyway There was a couple next to me from London and I warned them that American audiences aren't like in the UK. They said they don't go to the theatre very often. I told them that people will acknowledge when favorites first come out on stage and that when Bette came down those stairs in that red dress that people were going to go nuts. And we did. I even had tears in my eyes when the orchestra started the overture. It's just such an iconic musical here. I told them that they HAD to see 42nd Street when they got home ... and I took a picture of the 42nd ST sign when walking. Day was worth the total 7.5 hours total on bus from home to Broadway.

Our US mid-term elections are 6 Nov. I'll be in London and voting absentee. When I wake up 7 Nov in your magnificent city, I'll know if Republicans have kept the House and/or Senate or if reason has finally prevailed. I will be either extremely happy or devastatingly sad.
I can't think of any show that would be appropriate for whatever mood I will be in then this one. Any sadness will disappear or happiness will be magnified when the curtain starts to come up and I see the dancing feet.
Evening of 7 Nov I will be in Stalls A1, hopefully jubilant. I used the 2 browser trick I've learned here to get around the single seat block.

^It really is a high stage, and the cheap stalls at the back are awful. If you can't get a discount, rear circle is the only option at full price, alas. I thought you might say that. Being is US I’ve only been able to see Mr. Rheon in a few things. “Misfits”, “Vicious” and one of his GoT shows but there was always something when he was on screen that was compelling, even when he did seem a bit awkward. It will be interesting to see him now

I’m going to market in the morning for some cashews. Found several recipes for marmite cashews and now HAVE to try them. I even found a marmite salted caramel cake frosting recipe that sounds so good also

Is Marmite known in the US? I've always thought it was more of a British cuisine. I live in small town in Rhode Island and they carry it in the little British Foods section that our local grocery store has. It's where I get my Ginger Nuts biscuits and Heinz beans also. And I think that all the responses I've gotten does indeed show "The Marmite Effect"

I guess it’s a better day than yesterday when my MacBook Pro fell off tall table onto wood floor and display broke. And this is 2nd time it’s happened. At least I’m not quite as depressed about it today

It's not necessarily a derogatory term - people tend to either love or loathe Marmite, so it's applied to a show (or anything else) that it's thought will strongly divide opinion Thank you. I get it now.

I don’t understand when someone refers to anything as a “Marmite”. I love a bit of Marmite on bread with cheese and wine so I’m trying to figure out how something being called “Marmite” can be bad?

On my last trip I asked driver to take me to Victoria Rail Station and they dropped me at the Gatwick Express machines. I was so overwhelmed by trying to find the other trains to Gatwick that I went ahead and took the more expensive express

The prices were quite nice. Especially with the old geezer discount. Ended up getting Stall A2. Thank you for all your help.

The theatre is slap bang next to the entrance and exit to the tube station (make sure you take exit 2) so that's easy. The theatre is lovely. The staff are a delight and the food and drink is very nice indeed. I like the auditorium and have sat in various seats over the years and I don't think I've ever really had a bad view although I think the cheap seats on the very sides of the stalls and circle (almost like slips) can be very hit and miss in terms of view depending on the staging of the play. I saw one play from there and it was fine, another I missed a huge amount of action on one side so I never bother with those anymore. Also the very ends of each row can feel a little bit like the Leaning Tower of Pisa as the floor slopes quite noticeably (especially in the circle). However the back rows of both stalls and circle offer good views in my (not so) humble opinion. Obviously stalls offer a better view naturally. Swiss Cottage to Green Park on the Jubilee line and then change to the Victoria line to Victoria should be fairly straightforward. Even if the play is 3 hours it will still finish at 6:00 so plenty of time to get to Victoria. In fact, it's finding my way out of Victoria station that always causes me confusion. Well now look at that. Helpful and not a hint of smut. Must be the heat. Very grateful for advice but rather disappointed by lack of smut

Advice please. Would it be too much of a stretch to do Wed matinee of "I and you" and then Swiss Cottage tube to Victoria for "Hamilton" 7:30 evening. TFL shows only 14 minute ride but I never know if I should trust those.
I've never been to this theatre and was also wondering about the seating. From their chart it looks very small. Any cautions abut views? Has anyone heard if Ms. Williams will be doing all shows?
Thank you !

I and You and The Hoes really look good to me and they are playing when I'm in London. I've set my alarm to be get ticket for I and You when public sales begin and will then get ticket to The Hoes depending on when I can get the other.
ETA: at this rate I'll only be able to do short day trips out of London on my 24 day visit. So much theatre, so little time......

Friendly americans at globe yesterday said Broadway was so expensive it was almost cheaper to come over here and go to theatre instead, granted they were on £5 tickets at the globe as they said this. My upcoming 24 day vacation in (mostly) London for airfare (bought way in advance), lodgings (mostly a small Airbnb just inside Zone 2) and my tickets to (so far) 11 shows, is less than what my transportation and tickets to comparable seats to 11 Broadway shows would be. Forgot to add that this is only for matinees on Broadway. If I wanted to see an evening show or a 2 show day I would have to add lodging as bus/trains don't run that late at night to RI
