I finally got to see this show tonight thanks to reduced tickets from TodayTix and I really enjoyed it. I had only heard a few bits of music from the Hey Producer DVD I own but I liked what I heard. And tonight I enjoyed it a lot. Yes the plot is a little thin but the cast bring such an amazing energy and sense of enjoyment of their roles that you get quickly immersed in it. I loved the bluesy songs and thought the staging was really clever. Audience were on their feet and everyone seemed to be having a good time which I feel is important in a theatre visit. 9/10 from me! I agree. For the price, this was a 9/10 for entertainment. The music and the cast really got my feet tapping.

Hey guys, sorry if this is Groundhog Day. Has anyone sat in the upper circle slips? How were the seats in tyerms of view/comfort? I know at £20 you cant expect miracles. Thanks in advance. I sat there. Decent view, have to lean forward though. The seating is a cushioned bench thing rather than seats. The day I went I was absolutely freezing in the auditorium. Anyone else been cold in there? Had to put my coat on for the second half! I froze during previews, but it was so hot during a January evening show that I thought some of my family members were going to be sick.

Attended the show last night and was blown away. Very different from my first trip during previews, more energy, more power, more shine.
Does sitting on the different side of the theatre have an effect on how you feel about a character? I loved Giles' Aaron Burr the 1st time. I thought he really shined and was one of my favorites. I still thought he was amazing this time, but didn't have the same connection. It felt like he looked to stage left more than stage right and that may have been the difference. It may all be in my head as well. Numerous things factor into how you perceive a performance.
The crowd was much different this time around too. There was whooping and cheering which I know is not supposed to happen at theatre, but it gave the theatre energy. The same vibe that I believe LMM gave musicals. The actors/actresses were professional and gave pauses at the right times, and I don't feel like we missed anything due to the cheering.
I believe that the actors/actresses are settling into their roles. I saw more synergy, polish and chutzpah from some of the characters. (Please take the following with a grain of salt as I am not one that sees theatre all the time. I have not seen Hamilton Broadway, but have seen youtube videos of performances.) I think what some theatre goers that aren't as happy may be missing is a little of the street rapper je ne sais quoi or East Coast/West Coast rapper swagger from the actors. However, I saw more of it this time than last. Having said that, I still loved the portrayals that these artists brought. It is different from the original cast playing these characters after the umpteenth time, and that is to be expected. Eliza was a little Disney Princess at the beginning, but Rachel Ann was also playing a very young Eliza at this point. Having said that Rachel Ann was not as Disney Princess through the entire show like last time. There is a female pop artist that I just can't put my finger on that I think LMM is trying to channel for Eliza. Like maybe a young Whitney Houston, soulful but youthful but a little more sass like Nicki Manaj or Lil' Kim. These are very small, picky critiques as the musical is amazing.
I am not sure, but I think the sound is still a little off at times. A few times something was too loud. I was so wrapped up in watching I didn't make a mental note of where we were to give details. One time I remember George Washington walking out with a large group and the sound was so loud as they were singing it caught me off guard for a several seconds then it settled itself. Sound was a big problem in the previews too.
I started to list our favorite characters of the night and remembered a quote from my daughter, "They are all amazing. If you keep listing your favorites you will have listed them all by the end. There was something special about each one." Having said that, I will list the ones my family mentioned the most as I think mine have remained unchanged since my last post. Jason Pennycooke was the hands down favorite as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. His mannerisms are humorous and quick-witted and kept us engaged when he was on stage. Closely followed by Obioma Ugoala's larger-than-life George Washington, Tarinn Callendar's powerful yet fun Hercules Mulligan and MIchael Jibson's spectacular King George III.
I took my two teens and husband who were not super thrilled about going last night. I was literally playing Hamilton music all day and about to jump out of my skin I was so excited. The rest of my family looked like I was taking them to a funeral. Before going, my teens voiced that they thought Hamilton was too commercial and oversaturated, and my husband was not thrilled about a night filled with rap. As we were leaving the theatre, I was expecting groaning about how I made them sit there in the heat (yes, it was incredibly hot last night) for so long all dressed up for nothing. Instead, both teens said thank you for bringing them, repeatedly. They couldn't stop gushing about how different Hamilton was than what they expected. It was invigorating and innovative and not commercial at all. Then we had a discussion about the brilliance of LMM as a playwright, the electric delivery the actors/actresses gave, how the musical parallels with current politics and Hamilton history that lasted through our late night dinner and return home. I don't know that we have ever had a conversation for hours that was this engaging. I saw my family light up for theatre in a way I never expected in my lifetime. Thank you LMM for creating something that crosses all barriers!

I own a pair of opera glasses, because my family thought it would be a good Christmas gift for me one year (they were right!), and although I took them to Hamilton when I was up in the Grand Circle, I didn't really use them. If you've got halfway decent eyesight (even if it's glasses making it so), I don't think you'd find a lot of benefit taking a pair to Hamilton. (Also, having sat in the Grand Circle, I sincerely hope they DON'T have opera glasses to rent up there, the legroom is limited enough as it is!) Thank you for the insight! I will forgo the glasses this time. You are correct in that these seats are so tight that adding an arm up to hold glasses would severely cramp you and/or whoever is next to you. Plus, this musical really should be taken in in its entirety. The stage work, stage set, dancers and actors/actresses all work together in this intricate, awe inspiring, spirit lifting piece of work. I don't know if I've ever been to a musical that I felt almost surrounded me with its genius the way Hamilton does.

Does anyone know if the theatre rents opera glasses? I went on Dec. 9 and don't remember seeing any. However, I wasn't looking. Going back with my family on Friday. In the Royal (dress) circle which I think has a fabulous view, but thought it might be nice to have a pair. Or worth it to buy a pair?

Where have all these seats come from? These performances have been listed as 'sold out' for ages! Is this touts returning tickets they know they can't sell? - in which case, it's clear just how many tickets were skimmed off by the resale market! It's either that, or the theatre has kept an awful lot of friends and family freebie seats, and they're now getting unallocated ones back to sell on. possibly unsold agency tickets too Could it be that some (obviously, not all) people thought they had tickets for the regular run and are just now realizing that they had preview tickets?

Quick question about the heat inside theatre. Hot or cold? Thanks Saturday matinee was a bit chilly. I did not put my coat on after intermission, but I put my scarf on. It was an incredibly cold day so maybe that had something to do with it.

First post on this board - massive theatre fan and very regular audience member so I can’t believe I’ve never seen this place before reading the new book by West End Producer. Anyway, like tens of thousands of other people I’ve been semi obsessed with the Hamilton OCR for the best part of a year. Got tickets for February and another pair in the secondary ticket release for June, however I just couldn’t wait. All the friends I’m taking for those dates are fellow theatre fans but haven’t yet indulged in the OCR, so I was a bit silly this weekend and forked out for a single premium seat for tomorrow evening (Stalls Row H). Which by the way, makes these reports of touts advertising seats for thousands of pounds even more ridiculous. I’m wondering where all these additional seats on Ticketmaster have been coming from, particularly after hearing about a few ticket holders from the original batch of cancelled previews not being able to be accommodated with replacements. Also, have the programmes been properly printed yet? I read that for the first previews the Broadway book was still being used. Only asking because as I’m going back in Feb, just wondering if it’s worth joining any long queues tomorrow. I am interested in hearing how you like Row H. I have tickets in H in May.

I am a total newbie to the theatre, so take everything I have to say with a grain of salt. I loved Hamilton! I agree with what everyone has posted about the matinee show on Saturday. There were a few minor hiccups at the beginning, but that is to be expected with previews. It did seem like the male quartet was struggling to harmonize a bit, but I suspect that will improve with time or maybe I have a tone deaf ear. A few people in our group did notice Giles' lisp, and one person just could not get past it. I do have a slight hearing issue (ever so slight), but I did not notice the lisp at all. I wonder if having seen Hamilton in other cities is why they noticed it more than myself. Someone else thought maybe it was that Giles was trying very hard to enunciate, and it might have come off a little unnatural. Having said that, I thought his overall performance was grand. Ash did an incredible job for his first start. King George III, George Washington and Angelica Schuyler tied for my favorites. Who am I kidding, the separation between my favorites and the rest of the cast was just a hair difference. Brilliant show all the way around!
The Royal Circle has amazing views of the lighting, scenery, etc. I felt much closer to the stage than I thought I would. The Royal Circle had two rows that had lights that stayed on during the entire show. That would have bothered me as I have sat in seats like that before and prefer not to have a light shining on me the whole time. I think the rows with the lights were E and F. At some point the overhang might cause some obstructed views of the stage. Looking forward to Theatre Monkey's full review of seating.
Thank you to everyone on this board and Theatre Monkey (who helped me specifically) for all the information you have shared!

Excellent news. Its fairly common sense stuff but for people unfamiliar it can be daunting and there are definitely techniques that improve chances This was all new to me. Very thankful for theatremonkey and all the other posters who compiled a plan that worked. Anytime you can beat a touter is a good day!

Wow. Impressed. I think flgirl5 was talking about resale in her posting, though? That is what is confusing. There are seats in red for resale and tickets in blue for sold from venue. (The site was accessed from Hamilton's website Ticket button). I thought the price was above face value, but maybe it was just the prices of tickets increasing. Makes me a feel a lot better about what I paid for Hamilton (West End).

Just checked out of curiosity right now. Went straight in, and lots of good seats for midweek in June, choose your own. From reports, Ticketmaster didn't do badly at all today, I'm quite impressed as it could have been a lot worse. I do observe that "Potter this isn't," going by the fact there are still tickets compared to what happens a few hours after Harry waves his wand... There are still a few singles here and there on dates that say sold out.

Just out of curiosity, why does Hamilton in NY have seats that say available from venue (vice resale) in Row E for November 3, 2017 at $849. Is that dynamic pricing?

Still in the Searching... sit tight. queue (with the ticket that fils and refills with blue) Wondering if I will ever get through. Suggest you open up a new tab and try again - there is NO sit tight queue happening for new enquiries right now. Thank you! I would have spent the rest of my night waiting as I still have the same message on my computer. Just went and checked the date I was in the queue for and no seats in my price range. Wonder if Ticketmaster can fix this glitch so people know to move on to a new date while there are still tickets to be purchased.

So disappointing. I have been in this queue since almost the start of this process. Didn't want to refresh because the message says you will loose your place in line. Definitely some glitches.
