I thought this was WONDERFUL. I echo all of the praise from others in this thread.
Initially I was disappointed that Samira was out again tonight, but now it’s just given me an excuse to go back again as many times as it takes to see her. I could happily watch this multiple times.

Can anyone who’s seen it this week confirm if Samira Wiley is back? Looking to get a rush ticket for next week but I really want to see her if possible, so if she’s still off I might wait another week. Thanks!

Soooo Groundhog Day could be going in after this in April/May for the summer?

Surprised this isn’t getting more discussion on here! Out of my 70+ theatre trips so far this year this has to be in my top 5. This is absolutely fantastic! The writing is top notch, and the performances were captivating. This is equal parts funny, educational and thrilling. I loved every second and had tears streaming down my Face when I shot to my feet at the end (along with the entire audience).

I thought this was genuinely one of the worst things I’ve seen this year. Poor directing, stiff acting, poor diction and accents (could barely hear from near the back - why they decided to keep the theatre in this configuration for this show is beyond me), cheap sparse set and cheap costumes. I couldn’t really rate the actual play because I don’t feel that would be fair after seeing such a poor performance. The theatre was absolutely freezing too.

I thought this was absolutely stunning. the technology is jaw dropping and worth going just to see it in action. I really enjoyed the story and the music too, I hope they release a recording at some point. My partner who is massively into steampunk adored it also.

I think we may have been sat next to each other last night jm25! Centre of the second row? The minute silence was definitely very moving.
Overall I enjoyed this but not as much as I was hoping to. I really enjoyed the performances, and much preferred the second act to the first. Not sure if I just wasn't maybe in the right frame of mind last night, but I HATED the Zoom scene. I found it a bit overwhelming and the 'joke' wore very thin very quickly for me. The audience were going NUTS over it - I haven't heard an audience shriek like that in a long time! So maybe it was just me.

Shhhhh stop telling everyone the secrets! If they find out that's what we're all doing they'll work out a way to stop it like when TodayTix fixed the loophole of being able to access rush tickets before everyone else! Was a sad day when that ended!

I was through by 12:03 and got what I was after without any problem. There were swathes of tickets available for about 10 dates I checked - a lot of them the circle only had a couple of tickets sold.

I loved the songs and performances, but the book and pacing were a bit all over the place for me. The first half is much stronger than the second. There’s mention of a cast recording in the programme which I’ll be looking forward to.
Glad I saw it but won’t be rushing back.

I was there this evening too and really enjoyed this. The performances were excellent - I would definitely love to see either of them on stage again, particularly Naoimh. The structure reminded me a bit of The Last 5 Years, and also felt a little like a mash up of ‘Beginning’ and ‘Middle’ by David Eldridge. The only bit I didn’t like was sitting in pitch darkness for 10 minutes - it gave me flashbacks to watching the dreadful Oklahoma recently.

I've got a rush ticket for tonight, can't wait after all the positive reviews! It'll be a bit strange to be back at the Apollo, front row, after sitting there twice for Jerusalem I was going to have to pop by the theatre to pick up a playtext anyway so thought I might as well see it again tonight and am also front row I am sure I won't be sobbing nearly as much on a second viewing, so I promise to not be a disturbance!

Slightly surprised that this play has a merchandise stall to go to, after a program and when it arrives the play text what items have they come up with to sell? There is a ‘black logo tshirt’ for £25 and a ‘universal tumbler’ for £10

Took a gaggle of gays to see this last night. Absolutely jaw droppingly good. This is definitely one of the best thing I’ve seen for a LONG time. I thought it was expertly written and Jack’s performance was outstanding. We were all gripped from start to finish and my whole group (of big, hairy, bearded guys who were sobbing throughout!) couldn’t stop gushing afterwards.
Definitely going back to see this at least once more.
Ran straight to the merch stand afterwards to buy the play text but they haven’t been delivered yet. Looks like they aren’t available on Amazon for a couple of weeks yet too. If anyone has seen it for sale anywhere else yet please let me know!

I really loved this! It felt almost like watching an episode of Black Mirror and I was pretty gripped throughout. Thought the vast majority of the cast were strong, though I am sure some of those with less experience will improve their projection over time (struggled to hear from row B of the circle a few times). We had a show stop for around 10 minutes near the beginning last night, looked like a lighting issue.
Was especially impressed with Joe Locke - would definitely love to see him on stage again.

Lol funny that on a musicals forum the response to this news has been largely negative. The response to pretty much *every* new show/adaptation/venture is largely negative on this forum! I adored the film and really hope this comes to fruition!

Managed to get a ticket for this yesterday for the corresponding performance the following week using their daily release scheme:
DONMAR DAILY RELEASE means there are tickets available for our productions every day. A small allocation of tickets priced from £10 – £45 will be released every morning, Monday – Saturday, at 10am for performances seven days later. Book online or call the box office on 020 3282 3808. Please note these won't be available for performances on 16, 17 and 27 August at 7.30pm.
If anyone is looking for a ticket I'd suggest continually refresh the page with the seat map on it from about 9:57am - yesterday they released a handful of seats at 9:58am at various prices.

I caught the first preview and really enjoyed it. It’s very long (clocking in at over 3 hours) and could do with some tightening up here and there. I have a feeling some people will call this preachy, but I learnt an awful lot from it and it felt very necessary. A word of warning - some scenes are very traumatic (the lady next to me screamed at one point) which was unexpected.
Francesca Mills was the stand out in the cast for me - I thought she was fantastic.

Susan Kelechi Watson was my favourite thing about This Is Us. I’m more excited to see her on stage than I am Helen Hunt! Even more happy with my front row centre PWC ticket now!

Caught the first performance at Ally Pally last night. Thought this was really excellent, and my dad who loves war stories was gushing about it afterwards. Much funnier than I was expecting too!
There are some serious issues with sound in that venue however - they are performing without mics, which means that even from my second row seat I struggled to hear what was being said when an actor was facing away from me. Luckily they do a great job of practically spinning in circles so even when missing words you can piece sentences together. I'm not sure they can do anything to resolve this for later in the run other than mic everyone up.
Lots of audience participation from various places in the front row on all sides, but nothing too terrible.

There’s definitely not 40 day seats available every day. Last time I queued up (a few weeks ago) they handed out tokens to the people in the queue to indicate how many seats were available and told us there was a very limited number that day. It was a 2 show day and there were probably less than 15 tokens in total given out across the 2 performances.

I never knew that the Ambassadors theatre actually had the interior of the Old Vic! It also appears to have the exterior of the St Martins and the foyer of the Dominion!

Just saw that this weekends' performances were cancelled due to Covid. Anyone know if they'll still be performing this week? I hope whomever has the virus has mild symptoms and gets well soon. Cancelled tonight and tomorrow

They’re doing some heavy discounting with dynamic pricing for this. Seats that are £125 later in the run were showing as £20 about an hour before the show last night. Was this direct on the ATG website? I had hoped to get Rush tickets at some point but this would work nicely for us too. Thanks! Yes it was! Row C in the circle was £20 at 6:30pm yesterday. Some others dotted around for £20 and £35 too.

Really enjoyed this last night! The cast all uniformly excellent and I really enjoyed the story and fell in love with the characters.
Pretty tight for a preview, the only issues were quite a lot of props flying around all over the place and I’m not sure if the very end needs some rework? There was quite a long time before applause because it wasn’t overly clear that it was the end.

About 10 minutes in I was really considering just walking out of this. I couldn’t understand a word anyone was saying, one actor in particular I didn’t understand at all for the length of the play (the one that kept putting his feet up on the table - thankfully he wasn’t in it much). Once things got going either my ears tuned in or they relaxed with the accents and I ended up loving it. Very glad I persevered!

It’s very, very rare that I go to the theatre and leave without having enjoyed what I’ve seen somewhat (I even enjoyed Legally Blonde last week!), but I’m definitely adding myself to the ‘absolutely hated it’ crowd. Couldn’t wait for it to end.
I asked this board months ago whether I should take my parents to see this (who love this musical), and I’m so glad I took your advice and didn’t get them tickets. When I was sat in the pitch black listening to people whisper into microphones for what felt like an hour I was thinking I would have been mortified if I’d have made them sit through that! And the less said about the dream ballet the better - my eyes rolled so far back in my head I almost lost a contact lens.

Well this was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be based on comments on here.
Huge fan of the original production, and I think they’ve done a pretty decent job here. It’s definitely not a perfect production by any means but it was still a really fun evening out in a beautiful setting. The cast were all excellent, all of the modernisations worked for me, and the dogs were actually hilarious.
That curtain has to go though - it looks like a huge dirty moustache and the cast were constantly getting tangled in it and even having bits of it ripped off and draped around them which was quite distracting.
