I decided to book this at the last minute so bought my ticket at noon today to find out it was cancelled at 2pm.... I guess they were trying to make it work (otherwise why not just cancel when the sick performer woke up?) so by then it was probably too late to bring in any sort of "cover" or concert-like performance. Just a shame it's everyone's last day.

Its doing Richmond in August too. Two venues in London. Kerry isn't doing Richmond though. That's a shame. When I saw it in Bromley I thought Kerry was the best thing in it. Though, that wasn't saying much I'm afraid. I saw the original New York production as well. The book has changed a lot but somehow it hasn't gotten even one word better. The songs are solid enough, I guess...

THIS is how you announce a cast. Can't wait to see Lizzy in this.

Glad it's not just me Rozzi Rainbow I saw it twice back in 2008 and absolutely loved it. However like you it took me ages to get into this version. I thought I'd love it from the start especially as I like Jon Robyns but it wasn't until the shopping scene that I finally was fully into it. Maybe it was just that I was more easily pleased 9 years ago, who knows? But I loved that version so much that I had to see it a second time. I did enjoy this version but I doubt I'll be heading back to see it again. I found myself getting annoyed with Grandma Rosie in this which I don't think helped. Hmm, finding it hard to think of really nice things to say, so I'm going to shut up before I say more things I didn't like about it. However even though you can't tell I did actually like it. This sums up exactly how I felt about it. I actually caught the original NYC production years ago... The show is one of my favourites but I didn't feel this was a particularly stellar production of the material that makes it so delightful. It wasn't that it was bad, and if you haven't seen the show before, you really should have a great time. However it just lacked a bit of heart - and I sort of got the impression that the company didn't get half of the 80s/NJ references they were making...

It's actor musician by the looks of the trailer? or are the band just getting a bit more "involved"? www.crazyforyoutour.comWhen I saw it at the Watermill it was actor-musician. I imagine the tour will be as well.

Starring Tom Chambers (who starred in it at the Watermill) plus this addition:
I saw this at the Watermill and really enjoyed it! A lot like the Watermill production of Calamity Jane (with Jodie Prenger) that toured in 2015.
Should be interesting with Caroline!

I saw this one this afternoon...
I was so disappointed. I had seen the original in New York and it's one of my all-time favourites.
I think the show had some technical issues which will OF COURSE be worked out, but at the moment I felt like the direction wasn't very strong. I didnt get the sensation that the company even understood half the jokes they were being asked to deliver.
I don't want to be too harsh on the actors because it was still an early preview - but the acting chops need to step up quite a bit. Vocally everyone sounded strong.
Highlights for me were Tara Verloop as Linda and Ben Cracknell's lighting.
Might go see it again in Wimbledon/Bromley as I love the show so much and want to see how it settles, but this doesn't strike me as a winning production.

I'd pay to see Eden Espinosa in anything. She was the first Elphaba I ever saw back in 2005. She's the reason I'm off to see this (not the artwork, I'm afraid...)

I saw T'Shan Williams in Love Me Tender a couple of years back and she absolutely blew me away. I can't wait to see her in this role.
And major kudos for snagging Joanna Woodward for Mary. This is a pretty great cast for Southwark!

Is anyone else really annoyed by how poor the grammar is on the social media channels for The Girls? I mean... who is writing these Tweets??

Overall thought the show was very good. Didn't realise how bizarre the storyline was just from listening to the CD. Joanne was ok, obviously no Sutton Foster with the vocals but her dancing was very good. She just didn't pack a big punch in those big numbers (although this was slightly due to the whole thing not being loud enough). Forget about the boy in particular was a bit of a let down. Other leads very good, Michelle did just fine. Really liked the Jimmy. Some slight sound issues but it was the first preview so understandable. This review was almost exactly how I felt about the production! I usually am a fan of Racky Plews' work and this didn't disappoint. Overall I had a great time. The only disappointing ones were Joanne and Michelle. Joanne did a good enough job but she didn't have the power on the big moment. Michelle wasn't terrible but she made what is a brilliant role very second-fiddle. I suspect whoever replaces her in a few weeks will sort that out. Loved the Jimmy - I saw Sam Barrett in Moby Dick and was impressed then as well. Jenny Fitzpatrick as Muzzy was a real treat. If it's coming to town I'd give it a shot.

I'd be really happy if it were this production of Annie! I saw it in Wimbledon (it was sold out the night I went) though it was Lesley Joseph as Hannigan and she was brilliant.
I distinctly remember the whole thing having a Matilda vibe, particularly in the design. I'm not sure it could be a long-runner but with Charlie out of the West End it would do really well for a limited run.
And then PLEASE put Waitress in afterward. Just put Waitress anywhere.

I'd love to see In the Heights tour! Does anyone know if there's been any discussion?
I saw it years ago on B'way with traditional staging - it definitely still works.

Saw this tonight and while I didn't love it I certainly didn't hate it either. Carolyn was wonderful and really suited the role of Molly, and I also found Andy Moss very good too. I didn't know what to expect of him and although he was a little quiet and cracked once or twice, all in all I thought he was good. Especially in I Had A Life which is one of the few songs I was familiar with going into the show. The rest of the cast was also quite good. Shame about the set/ effects which sadly seemed a bit low rent. The first ghost reveal but was good but the rest were so blatant that they might as well not have bothered trying to fool the audience. Pleased I went to see this but I won't be going again. This is such a poorly written summary but I'm writing out notes on the train home and my phone is dying, so apologies for the lack of eloquence! I was always a bit worried that Sarah Harding was the red herring - that, push come to shove, the rest of the show isn't great either. I was vaguely tempted when I heard Carolyn came on board but, if the next couple of reviews are like this, I won't spend the money - either way, thanks for the review

I'd agree with Vanities, hands down. I don't think there has ever been more perfect casting. All three girls were fantastic and the show fit almost perfectly in Traf 2.
I'd love to also suggest Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour - obviously a bigger show since it was at the National but I think one that a lot of people unfortunately missed!
