Would anyone know the running time for this. Booked the train well in advance, 1705 from Stratford and wondering if I was going to make it? It’s always the same, when I book a later train the play is only 1.5 hours and I have hours to kill! Thanks in advance.

The Everyman has done it again, creating a wonderful production of this seldom produced show. From the opening number of wandering star with effective use of lanterns and the whole ensemble you knew you were in capable hands. Patrick Brennan repeats His Tevye success with another outstanding role as Ben rumson, Emily Hughes puts in a fine performance as his daughter Emily and Marc Elliot is pitch perfect as Julio. These are all backed up by a fine ensemble. Highly recommended.

Anyone else seen this yet, a very interesting piece. I am glad I went to the talk prior to seeing it as I would have been left scratching my head for most of the duration. This play, if you can call it that, has certainly made me think and piqued an interest in a history I only had a cursory knowledge of. Definitely worth a look and made with more invention and originality than the rest of the RSC output this season.

Saw this last night. A few first night teething problems, screeching parrakeets, one of the male chorus losing his shoe into the audience in the opening number, a non collapsing dinasour, issues with retracting and removing sets, Siena Kelly playing Ivy falling down a gap between the stage and one of the entrance ramps, however in the best tradition the show carried on. This is another show where dance is first and foremost and it holds its own with the current crop in the west end. The stand out in the first half was a ballet of a gay sailors encounter on his leave in New York. The cast were all excellent with Danny Mac showing he has the chops to lead a show. The resolution did seem a little rush but overall this has makings of a five star production.

Fun home has managed a transfer to Manila with Lea Salonga so you can only hope a UK producer will see the potential. In my opinion this has one of the best scores of recent years. Maybe one of the subsidised theatres could give it a limited run, its about time the national put on another musical.

I saw this yesterday and enjoyed it, but I don't think it really connected. The score has a handful of notable songs but overall does not bring anything new to the table that was not in the original stage play. The advantage of a musical is that the songs can heighten the emotional punch of a story and this just seemed like a missed opportunity. The cast are all excellent and it appears to be playing well to its target audience who were lapping it up,

Was also at the matinee today. I really loved this, thought the staging and cast was perfect, just ignore the slightly clunky plot. Must also give Chris Peluso a mention. He really is something special, the tone of his voice is fantastic, and I really want to hear some more. Anyone know of any CD!s or OST's he has sung on?

I went last night with really low expectations, memories of Wonder.land still giving me nightmares! Must say I was pleasantly surprised. The cast they have assembled is first class and the staging is simple but very effective. Kerry is on top form, Wendi Peters camps it up with a audience pleasing turn as the queen of hearts and Natile McQueen as the Mad Hatter puts in a great performance. The downside is the book is a little muddled and the music at times lacks originality but all in all it deserves to do well. Kerry at the end did seem to be visibly moved by the positive audience reaction so maybe they had concerns it was not going to play well ove here. Definitely worth a punt if it is going to a theatre near you?

Must admit the trailer does not want me to rush out and buy tickets, however I did catch the openenig night and Kasia Hammarland is just charming as Charity, tempeted to rush on stage and save her myself by the end! There is excellent support from the ever dependable Daniel Crossley and Josie Benson knocks the socks off Rhythm of Life. All in all a good night out.

Strictly ballroom the film is a camp, fun OTT joy of a film which means any theatrical version needs to be really good to justifiy its exsistence. They have taken all the good components of the film, put it a pot, gave it a stir and have come out with pure theatrical gold. Not sure what they have changed since the mixed reviews it received at its premier in Australia, but I just loved this. Most fun I have had at the theatre for many a year!

I saw the original production at the Menier and was left a little underwhelmed so I went along out of curiosity and the fact it was the only show I had not seen with a Sunday matinee. From this second viewing and the clearer uncluttered direction of the new production I think this show actually works surprisingly well. The score is much stronger than I first gave it credit for with a fascinating story. From the rather lack luster audience response at the end I think I may be in the minority, but if you love Sondheim, I can't see how you will not enjoy this production.
