I’m surprised that this hasn’t been mentioned yet, but KE said when recently on that Sheridan Smith radio programme that she was going to be appearing in a production of If/Then in London soon

Just listened to the podcast. West End next year she says! Interesting shout. I saw it in New York and it was all about Idina.

Kerry isn't always the strongest actress but that voice makes up for it. My credit card will be ready!

Quite frankly I'm a little fed up with this woman. She's everywhere!

Quite frankly I'm a little fed up with this woman. She's everywhere! ...she was a decade ago but she certainly isn't now! Not my first choice - I'd have loved for Rachel Tucker to do it here.

She definitely isn't 'everywhere', she hasn't done a show since Wonderland in 2017 apart from her own concerts, which are pretty easily avoidable if you don't like her!!

Certainly not as “everywhere” as another frequent flyer and former green girl who is in every concert under the sun! (And no complaints there, if someone’s good and can get cast in everything then go for it!)

Is this being produced by Kerry’s production company?

Am hearing regional, not London, first x Bit of a risky one to do in the regions before a London run - I don't know anything about it really other than Idina was in it on Broadway...and I'm a big theatre fan! Interestinggggg

Yes I've never heard of it so I wouldn't think it would work well regionally.

Certainly one of the rudest West End performers that I encountered when I was moving in such circles.
And her voice has never impressed me. I was not surprised when the judges didn't turn for her on The Voice.

I don't think you've touched any nerves, we're just saying she hasn't been 'everywhere' for several years. She hasn't done a London musical since 2016, a touring musical since 2017, and has only really done her own concerts and albums recently.
What are all these things you've seen her in recently, maybe we missed them? (genuinely asking, not being sarcastic!)

I have to say I miss the Kerry thread on here. It was certainly eye opening reading for me just getting into theatre and hearing about her fans camping out for tickets every weekend on the steps of the Apollo Victoria.

I was not surprised when the judges didn't turn for her on The Voice. I have always felt how genuine Kerry is , when meeting her a few times over the years she has always been gracious and lovely. She was my first Elphaba and will always be special for that and have seen her several times in shows and concerts. It's funny how our opinions differ so markedly. That's what makes us human and not robots I guess!!

Tbh she was worth camping out for then. Her first six months were pretty special. But then the same riffs & growls in the same places every night just got a bit ordinary, then she got tired. Then she came back again but on auto pilot and every show sounded like she was saving her voice for something else…all cheats, back phrasing and any excuse not to hit a money note. Such a shame as she is an excellent vocalist (and only ever lovely when I’ve spoken to her/been around her).

When declaring people rude it's always worth remembering that we don't know what someone is going through. They could be having a bad day, they could be in a bad mood, they could be ill, they could be stressed, they could have depression or anxiety, they could have something serious going on in their life. None of us are lovely to people 100% of the time and it doesn't make us a bad person.

It's a hard sell as a West End show. It's so NY-focused, and it was pretty much a star vehicle for Idina Menzel who is a much bigger star than Kerry is, and was running during Idina's peak fame..and it still tanked. The score is good enough I think, and the though the story and plot are weak, it's a compelling theme for a formidable leading lady of that generation. Though I like Kerry and would see her in things, I don't think she's got the Idina-level charisma or box office draw to make this work. Her vocals were her best attribute, and though she can still carry a tune, I don't think she has the same vocal prowess she possessed even five years ago. It should be a concert/staged concert or regional tour a la Wonderland, which means it will also close too soon because..no one cares. As far as Broadway is concerned, Brits love light American musical comedies like Hairspray, Legally Blonde, or Kinky Boots. They wouldn't know what to do with an If/Then experimental mainstream pop musical theatre which was a hit or miss to begin with. I also don't think that following Idina's footsteps in every role under the sun is a good career move. This is not a must-do role, or a staple of musical theatre. The comparison will be invevitable. A better move for Kerry would be to play Heidi Hansen and just sing the crap out of Good For You.

You should've seen it when it was Idina. Literal camping overnight! We arrived at 2am and were 10th in the queue. Never again!!!
