Theatres will have to wait for the official announcement before emailing the public - plus I would hope they have spent the time contacting all the staff involved first and foremost. I'm so glad I made it there on Saturday, if there were a single seat for tomorrow I'd grab it!

Judging from the reactions to Baz's tweets it looks like a lot of actors got the news from him, which sucks

I do wish that people using Twitter would wait until official announcements and give the staff, performers, backstage and FOH, a chance to be told in a better way. We all love the gossip and scoops on new shows etc but a bit of sensitivity before tweeting would be kind in these times

there is one number "The twelve days of Christmas" when I was actually crying with laughter. Trying not to spoil it, but is this the version from a couple of years ago that {Spoiler - click to view} had the cast, including Nigel Havers, running all over to grab the appropriate comic props for each line? By the end, I was afraid Havers was going to have a heart attack, but the cast was enjoying it as much as the audience.

When are they contacting the audience members? I’m due to go Dec 22 and haven’t heard anything. What a disgrace! Seriously? When you posted this everything was gossip and rumours. Until things were officially announced they couldn't do anything. Now they have and have already emailed patrons asking for refund details. Theatres will have to wait for the official announcement before emailing the public - plus I would hope they have spent the time contacting all the staff involved first and foremost. I'm so glad I made it there on Saturday, if there were a single seat for tomorrow I'd grab it! Judging from the reactions to Baz's tweets it looks like a lot of actors got the news from him, which sucks At that point it was still unconfirmed, just like most things he tweets. Still not ideal (although how performers missed the rumours over the last few days about potential Tier 3 amazes me), but again, their employers couldn't really have sent out a "you might be unemployed in two days time. But you might not be. Tune in to BBC News to find out" email!

Given that the Palladium panto isn't that traditional/christmassy, I wish they had considered delaying it until early in the new year, instead of cancelling immediately. I understand that the cast might have other bookings lined up, venue not available etc, but I suspect the majority of ticket holders would still want to go.

Saturday night started at 7 and finished at 9.30 but that was because the standing ovation went on for about 15 minutes- I swear to god, it was amazing.

Would have thought a streaming version would be more likely. Suspect they want to film it and make sure it all works before announcing.

So look, I went in to this expecting to have a bit of a giggle and to be glad to have been in a theatre for a couple of hours... but I just had one of the best nights in the theatre I've had for YEARS.
Sure, there is absolutely no plot, but they make no attempt to hide that. Every routine and gag lands, it's brilliantly witty, topical, crude (just the right amount) and outrageous. I honestly belly laughed for two hours non stop. Beverley Knight sings her FACE off and is just amazing. Julian Clary is honestly just brilliant. Really enjoyed Nigel Havers and Paul Zerdin. Charlie and JAC are great the little they are in. Gary Wilmot did the Tube song and we went crackers for it. EP turns up five minutes before the end and sings As If We Never Said Goodbye and I Know Him So Well and we ate it for breakfast. Diversity did a couple of great numbers too.
Its a brilliant variety show, but what completely floored me was the audience response. An instant standing ovation that was continuous applause, cheering and stamping for over six minutes. The cast took eight bows because we wouldn't shut up. It was just so moving to those onstage and in the house. They moved heaven and earth to make the theatre safe and secure (which is was) yet as normal as possible.
Theatre is viable, we will be back. Its horrid to have to have another interval, but I'm so glad that I went out on this show.

I wrote to the Palladium a couple of days ago to thank them for looking after me so well at the last 2 shows I attended both with Covid measures and also with access arrangements and got a lovely reply yesterday saying how much the appreciated my comments.

What do we think for 2021 my money is on Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood or Peter Pan !! Since Disney's Aladdin is no longer in the West End, the panto version might also be an option.
