With those names they should manage to sell out the first 2 rows of the stalls! Where is the unlike button?

Dreadful casting... The Palladium needs knock out names!!!!! Not regional had beens! Have they been confirmed? Also, I am almost certain they'll get much bigger names for Cinderella, Ugly Sisters and Fairy Godmother? They must do

Dreadful casting... The Palladium needs knock out names!!!!! Not regional has-beens seen for years elsewhere (as good as they are) Julian, Paul and Lee are hardly 'regional has-beens'! Sorry, but this is getting ridiculous now! People have been moaning on this board (and its WoS predecessor) about 'Star' casting instead of casting people who can actually do the job! Now that it appears that people who can do the job have been cast in this production, people are moaning about the lack of 'Star' casting! I blame the media for getting ridiculously hysterical over this. Would anyone have expected Britney (or some other massive 'Star') in the cast if some newspaper hadn't hinted at it?

It is pantomime though, people pay to see stars. They don't need to be amazing at singing unlike a musical theatre performer

It's the lack of star casting in a show for which the producers have promised superstars though. For a normal musical I'd agree with you

Give them a chance - the "Britain's Got Talent" final hasn't happened yet. Can they not sign up that lady off benefit Street and a couple of gogglebox folk

Who would you want and not just a name you know will not be available or want to do it such as your Kyle, Madonna, Cher or Britney? And in which role. I mean the women would have to keep their clothes on and for them that is a challenge. Keeping in mind that those performers would command 250,000 for one night not 5 weeks. So name who and in which character.

Nigel Havers - Lord Chamberlain (who's that?) He used to be fairly well known as an actor with floppy hair.

I do love Paul O'Grady. So I'd be tempted for him however I had puppets and have ventriloquists even more and as google has told me that's what Paul Zerdin does I'll likely be running a mile...

Yeah. Love Paul o Grady he will be funny. I presume the ones not announced yet will be fairly big names to justify not announcing all together.

I think I will have to go now that Paul O'Grady is in it. So will it be Paul in drag as the the stepmother or Lily Savage as the step mother? Hope its the latter. Bit of filth for us adults that will go over the kids heads.

I don't mean to sound ignorant but who is Paul Zerdin or Arthur Strong? Paul is great casting! Paul Zerdin is a ventriloquist, he won America Got Talent last year, he's quite good. I've never heard of Arthur Strong but Baron Hardup isn't the biggest part is it? I've never heard of Lord Chamberlain in Cinderella?!

I'm guessing the Lord Chamberlain will be like the King character? Or the announcer of the guests at the ball? It could be like those ITV2 pantomimes where some celebs just get cameo roles?

Ain't there usually a king and sometimes a queen as well. Unles the Lord chamberlain replaces him, I imagine the step sisters will be played by females so the French and Saunders remours could be true. Cinderella will be played I imagine by someone no older than 30.

Does anyone
Really
Seriously
Think madonna or similar
Would wipe their arse with a London panto?
Please
Be realistic
There has been a (slight) blurring recently with failed pop stars like Beverly Knight, Alexandra Burke and Nicole Scherzinger moving to stage theatre as their international music careers were ailing and restricted by their overall lack of suitability and talent as mega stars in the first instance
The Madonnas and Beyonce of this world as quite another matter

I then think someone like Joan Collins would be great as the fairy god mother and then an American as Cinderella. They've done all the male roles then they'll do the females.

It is not a case of them failing, it is a case of them stretching their talents.
Plus Beverley has had 6 Top 20 Albums, so she is hardly doing too bad for herself. Nicole, in her solo career alone, has had 2 Top 20 Albums and a Number 1 single. Alexandra has had 2 Top 20 Albums and 3 Number 1 singles. So none of them have had massive failures career wise, and if they want to cast out musical theatre careers alongside it, why not?
Also not forgetting, between them, two Olivier nominations (one of which was for about 10 minutes of stage time)

Exactly! I think if you asked people who those 3 people are then people would know. They haven't failed! Like Daniel said, they've all had brilliant singles and brilliant music careers. And they're great in musical theatre so why is it a bad thing? Beverley has become known for her singles and her theatre work now, not to mention having an MBE

Page 13 of this thread is just priceless! Some of these posts are so funny, I have tears running down my eyes... Madonna wiping her arse with a pantomime... The male roles announced first then the females... The Nigel Havers/Lord Chamberlain confusion... What the Lord Chamberlain will have to do...
