Have the Wicked Sisters got a big part in the show? Or are they not really in it much?

So what do people think next year's panto will be? I was originally thinking that it could be Aladdin but since the musical of that is playing over the road then I don't think they'll put the panto version of it at the Palladium. I hope and think it will be Snow White & the 7 dwarfs - that's a very popular panto too. I really hope it isn't Peter Pan as that's my least favourite panto Dick Whittington with John Barrowman wouldnt surprise me as one of them I love panto but 3 hours seem a bit long for a panto

Sounds like a good show but I still wont pay £72 for a decent seat but realise there won't be offers as it's only a 5 week run.

It's a wonderful show and the price for tickets goes to the talent rather than CGI effects. Also since there are no children you are paying a full cast, not local children. Everyone had a star turn. Could have done with a bit more of Lee Mead and Natasha Barnes as the Prince and Cinderella, they are in great voice and have wonderful chemistry, but it was expected that Paul O Gray and Julien Clary would have the most "face time". Paul Zerden's Buttons is very funny as is Nigel Havers' Lord Chamberlin.
It will not go on offer but book thru the actual site to save fees. In the upper circle you will still have a good view.
It may be 3 hours but the time Flys by.

Most stage-school mums would actually pay Qdos to thrust their over-praised, jazz-handed offspring onto a stage with such a stellar cast! What fantastic experience it would be for them in such company! I have no idea about Qdos, but provincial pantos not only don't pay the child dancers but they also have to buy their own dance shoes and, if needed, specialist underwear such as tights, bodies and Bridget Jones pants if they have quick changes within 3 miles of an adult. No travel expenses or lunch included either! I'm glad everyone seems to like it - I'm going Christmas eve.

Those are not has beens, Amanda holden aside they all have proven panto experience and while people like to mock panto is an art form that not everyone can pull off. This is much better than some american celeb who doesn't 'get it'

Absolutely Bear! Would you like a hosiery lesson? I hope I'm not being presumptive in thinking that tights that would fit a 9 year old girl would not fit you? So they are specialist in that the costume department would not be allowed to fit them on a child, as they would a costume. They leave that to their mothers!

Lee Mead has been a regular on Casualty for quite some time - currently taking a break. So I don't think he's a hasbeen.

I mentioned on the thread about that XFactor reject not learning her lines, so I won't bang on, but panto (despite you non-believers!) is most children's first experience of both attending theatre and performing in a show with professionals, so serves an important purpose in educating our young. And I have also watched the American programme you mention with my jaw on the floor. *shudders* I consider it child abuse.

It's a 5 week run, the sets are what I'd expect for a top-end panto - the money goes into the cast, the effects and the costumes which is what you spend most of your time looking at. Unless you're a student of set design perhaps. But yes, 3 hours! Yikes indeed.

Saw this last night and wanted to add my thoughts!
It's fantastically cast, ok Amanda isn't the best but I didn't think she was awful.
Ye sets are a lot simpler than I expected! The three Wow moments (opening act 1, closing act 1 and opening act 2) are WOW but otherwise it relies on the costumes for the glitz and glamour!
The songs were good, love changes everything was one of the best moments for me, had me and those around me I'm stitches! Very funny!! Brilliantly performed by Natasha, Lee and Paul.
I liked the funny girl reference!!
The orchestra sounded brilliant, very "punchy"
The sisters are great but with hardly any stage time!
Julian Clareys first song! "When you are lonely you can always go, Soho!" Was a real crowd pleaser and it was when the show really got going. There was a lot of pissing about up to then.
Theee hours is long for children but it went very quickly! Love the Salvation Army type song performed by Paul and the sisters towards the end.
really good night out, no lavish sets but a great cast, great costumes, three great wow moments and a lot of laughs!!

Thanks so much for this!! Sounds great!! What's the opening song like? Isn't it Argyll Street? So shocked that the sets are that grand, I was expecting them to be huge! Also, do The Twins FX special effects look good?? Cast sound great! I had a feeling the sisters wouldn't get much stage time judging by them it being names. Also had a sneaky feeling there would be a reference to Funny Girl and Natasha!! Seeing a few days after Christmas!! Can't wait! Hope they announce next years panto soon too!

Also nice speech at start. I think he said he was one of the producers. Just stating that although they had a matineee this was first evening performance of panto in palladium for almost 30 years

Lee Mead has been doing panto since 2012, so he's hardly a newbie either. And on the work front generally he was in Casualty from 2014, which films a big portion of the year so he's hardly been sitting at home in his pants!
And he's pretty and he can sing and act so I'll settle for that as a Panto prince!

Did I miss a Funny Girl reference? Where was it? During act two when Cinderella and the puppet (Sam?) were on the bench in the forest. Sam said to Cinderella "oh you are a funny girl"
