I mean for me the more adult the musical the better, but surely it's understandable that people are concerned when they've booked to see it with their parents.

Seeing this in a couple of weeks time having booked having regard to a stellar cast and the "taster" at West End Live. Given the wildly varying reviews should be interesting. I'm slightly surprised, as a newcomer to this forum at the somewhat prim attitudes to sex appearing in various posts. Surely adult members don't expect to see musicals about witches/phantoms/genies and the like only? Lighten up guys. I don't mind some sexual content at all. But that's not something I'd like to watch with my parents sitting next to me tbh.

I love a bit of sex both in my personal life and theatrical life! I never felt uncomfortable at all.

A friend of mine was there last night and told me had there been an interval, he would have left.
Sounds like a waste of a talented cast - such a shame.

It should also be noted that there isn't even a break in the songs, so no applause throughout the show. But there was a full standing ovation at the end of the show, with very enthusiastic cheering at the end last night.

I like the score, I dont love, my main goal is the cast (especially Ramin and not only because he's a god), so I think I will still try this one.

How naked does Ramin get? Just topless but at the very beginning you are teaed with his jeans being undone and his trousers being lowered slightly.

How naked does Ramin get? Not nearly enough.

That said, the theatre is a dive. It needs gutting from the inside out and they need to start it from scratch. I think it's going to be torn down like next year or so

Did anyone see Natalie McQueen's performance yesterday?

Are the understudies, Natalie McQueen and Matthew Harvey, on stage for regular performances as well? I keep seeing photos of the 6 of them taking bows. And just today I saw this tweet saying there was someone else, Natalie Law, on as well. Do they also serve as ensemble then? I used to think this was just a 4 people show.

Now that the amount of nudity & sex has been discussed, could anyone tell me how much violence there is? I'm very squeamish so I'm a bit dubious about seeing something with the word "Murder" in the title. I'd like to go & see Norman Bowman in this but not if I'm going to be trying not to have a panic attack mid-show.

Nat and Matt just walk on to move just around and, I presume, add backing vocals to full cast numbers like You Belong To Me (Reprise)

I saw it yesterday and liked it a lot. Director Sam Yates has provided a smart and efficient production entirely appropriate to the material. I thought the two revolves worked especially well and I loved the brief appearances of the band. The clever staging meant that the many short scenes transitioned perfectly.
I had no problem whatsoever with Kerry Ellis's Sara - I thought she was right for the role which, let's remember, has her as the mother of a young daughter and the wife of a uni lecturer for most of its length. Her scenes with Ramin felt authentic and genuinely passionate. And of course her voice is bliss. Ramin's Tom and Victoria's Narrator were both excellent, flawless.
My one cast reservation was with Norman Bowman's Michael. First, his voice is not up to the others - he seemed a bit underpowered and I had trouble hearing all his words. There's also his physical type. He is such a close match to Ramin, from height to style to facial hair, that I wondered if the director were making a point here. Are Tom and Michael to be seen as two versions of the same guy: one hot and free and irresponsible and the other solid and stable, a "good man", as Sara calls him? If so I'm not sure anything is gained from that. In the New York production Michael was played by John Ellison Conlee, grey haired and clearly older than the others, so that the contrast between Sara's two men was stark and her need for Tom could be seen as a desperate lunge to regain her lost youth.
My other issue with the show is Juliana Nash's score. The show is entirely sung through which puts a lot of pressure on the music to change with the story, reflecting what's going on. The four characters should be individually portrayed in the music which, honestly, they are not except in a generalized way. There is a heavy sameness to all of it; the Narrator's songs sound like Sara's songs sound like Tom's songs, etc. Perhaps I'm missing something, perhaps there are subtle motifs woven through the show that I'm not hearing. But I have the CD, I've played it a few times and, for me, it's all too much generic hard rock.
But, that said, I did enjoy it - as did the audience; a strong standing O at the conclusion of the inventive bow number that ends the proceedings. For all my quibbles I'd see it again.

As the title implies murder is involved, but it's not explicit or gory in the slightest. Thanks. That sounds like it'll be okay then. Now to work out when to go. I'm leaning towards a 5pm Friday show as I'm not a Kerry Ellis fan.

I saw this Friday at 5pm and I went with low expectations having read the reviews. The one expectation I had not anticipated was that I would be so bored. No plot, no characterisation, samey music, poorly simulated sex scenes and the most unbelievable fight between Ramin and Norman. If it hadn't been for Victoria I would have left early, as did about 10 people around me in a sparsely populated stalls. Suggest that this starts papering and discounting heavily or it'll be closing soon.
