Normally fairly sceptical of ITV content, but this aired recently (and available on ITV Hub/Sky etc) and was really enjoyable.
Presented by Bradley Walsh, a genuinely interesting and honest account of the history of The London Palladium with some very rare archive footage from 'Sunday Night at the Palladium'.
A good solid 2 hour programme, with some great footage and interesting interviews. Highly recommended.

Although I found it interesting I was slightly disappointed by the footage shown. Most of it was from Sunday Night at the London Palladium and only a bit from concerts. Just a brief mention of all the musicals and no mention that panto had returned.
Also Beverly Knight talking about acts and making it sound as if she had seen them when she clearly hadn't been born when some of them appeared.
All the same, an entertaining 2 hours.

Made me very proud to work there. I do really like Bradley Walsh as a presenter too. He has a terrific onscreen persona and charm.

Enjoyed the programme, the clips and the backstage tour.
I thought Des O'Connor looked really ill - bless him.

Given it was an ITV-produced Palladium program presented by Bradley Walsh I went in expecting a SNATLP highlights show, so wasn't too disappointed by the amount of attention it got in comparison to other productions. Also thought Des O'Connor didn't appear too well, assumed stroke of some kind. Big laughs at Lord Andy "When I get upset at night times I let myself in and come stand on the stage at midnight to make myself feel better". Yes mate, sure you do. |

A very enjoyable programme, but as always on such compilations , the clips of most of the “speciality” acts were just dismissed with a fleeting glimpse and no name given . I saw just a second or two of the late George Carl, one of the funniest acts I’ve ever seen , but no acknowledgement at all for him. I guess many viewers wouldn’t know or care who these jugglers and acrobats were, but some of us do. In fact, I often preferred them to the “star” names .

Finally managed to watch it tonight. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I thought Bradley Walsh came across really well presenting the programme. There was a good mix of both Palladium trivia (I did chuckle at the hand rails bit) and backstage tour as well as clips of the performances. You forget at times how many entertainment greats have had the opportunity to grace that legendary stage.
Though like other posts, Des O’Conner really didn’t look in the best of health. Hopefully he will be ok.
It really is a very special building with a great history. My first time at the theatre was 1999 watching Saturday NIght Fever. I got front row tickets for the stalls and walking through the stalls doors into the auditorium for the first time and seeing that decor and stage is something I will always treasure.
