What annoys me is how Labour are sort of celebrating this. With a better shadow cabinet and a better leader, they could've had a win here. He needs to drop the 3 stooges and build some bridges with the likes of Chukka Umunna, Yvette Cooper and Tom Watson. Who, let's be frank, might be more amenable to that than they were yesterday?

Is it true that there's still one constituency to declare. What is it?

First, the votes counted for all the candidates totalled a different figure than the total votes cast. Then the counters fell asleep and someone realised that someone else had booked the counting room so they had to leave. !!!

I can just imagine all the Zumbarobics students standing at the side looking at their watches and tutting.

Bit harsh on Jezza that, amazing performance. Go 'ed Jezza lad He lost a general election better than anyone thought he would do. Hardly the greatest accolade in the world. Oh he wasn't the loser...

Perhaps because I am not that policitally active I only just read Corbyn profile 2 A levels at E grade And incomplete degree from a polytechnic This now explains much to me In terms of to whom he appeals Seriously Victoria Beckham is more qualified for the job Your worst post, by a distance.
Usually so perceptive.
But...
you have missed this one by such a wide distance.
Shame really for someone as clever.
I think you'll work it out,
though

I was hearing rumours of a majority of 60 from HQ at 9pm. Pretty down really after all that work and not the answer I was getting on the ground. Was going to pack up and have an early night sleep.
Then Bullingdon Boy announces the exit poll at 10pm and it is grab another beer. Strap in here. This is going to be a bumpy ride. A nights sleep missed on adrenaline and plenty of coffee today.
It's a beautiful evening after, I have baby gold finches and baby robins in the garden. And life is good.
Besides, a good election to lose this one...

He lost a general election better than anyone thought he would do. Hardly the greatest accolade in the world. Oh he wasn't the loser... I said elsewhere that it's all about May not Corbyn but the cold fact is that the latter lost an election and against the worse Prime Minister in my lifetime. Coming within 60 seats of the Conservatives and needing 65 seats to form a majority Government is still losing. Losing better than people thought you would do is still losing the general election.

It's a beautiful evening because Labour lost an election and will be on the opposition benches again? The Conservatives are the Government and with the DUP will be able to go at least another 2-3 years without needing to call another General Election as long as the deal which emerges stands firm. If you think the Conservatives will run a campaign as bad as this one next time around I believe you are deluding yourself.

Well, I'm obviously thick so could you spell it out please? I think you are playing with me, dangled the rod and I have grabbed it. But let's pretend you wanted to know what I meant.
Tezza was playing politics, hey that's the name of the game eh and Crosby/May was looking at a 150-180 Thatcher style landslide.
But Jezza out performed May. May had probably the worst election, ever. Her three policies were unmitigating disasters and she has shown very little political nouse. She has had a terrible six weeks or so. Led a very bad and negative campaign. And now needs to be propped up by the 'political wing of the 17th century'. He he, a coalition of chaos if you will. Whilst Corbyn has performed pretty well. To come from this low base in a short time to get 41% of the vote in a high turn out is an exceptional performance.
Corbyn has galvanised movement across lots of different areas of the country. The party membership is at a high and continuing to grow. The membership is young and it is very encouraging. Plus, six weeks ago Corbyn would have been under threat from his party. Now with this showing the left can give the Blairites a shoeing. Time to tow the line or it is bye bye time. Been some real names come to the fore. One or two Labour MP's becoming really prominent. McDonnell, Long-Bailey, Thornberry and Rayner. And of course the star of the election 2017 Barry Gardiner. (Yeah I have a man crush on Gardiner, ooh you big posh socialist).
RIP Blairism. Ta ra kidda. Goodbye tory light blue Labour.
Now it is May who is under pressure and bookies have stopped taking bets on Boris to be leader for next election. But the Tories can not get rid of her, yet. Brilliant this eh. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think they have to keep her for short/medium term. And she is useless. Great the other team have such an uninspiring leader whilst your own leader is over performing.
And now close enough to win the next general election with a much lower swing. That is why the election result has been really successful. Tories in particular but Labour and Lib Dems also have shown that Sturgeon isn't a machine. Get their act together north of the border and there is gold to be won in Scotland. And blue and orange also.
And lastly a good election to lose. Whatever deal May can get will be worse than what we currently have. Lots of the proverbial to hit the fan yet. Politics is really interesting again. And Corbyn is right in the middle of the action. Going to be really interesting to see where the next few years take us... and Corbyn in particular.

Labour have now lost 7 of the last 10 General Elections and the 3 they won were with Blair...
That's the reality.

Good news, I've another question! People's opinions on the DUP? The only way I can express my opinion of them, having grown up in that neck of the woods, can only be said in language far too rude to post on here. They are bigoted, narrow-minded and completely incompetent. "Coalition of chaos" pretty much sums it up.

I heard May had to be reminded Ruth Donaldson was a lesbian when she asked what is her beef with the DUP On BBC1's Question Time tonight, Armando Iannucci corrected me on the Democratic Unionist Party. The North of Ireland equivalent of the Tories is the Ulster Unionist Party, who lost their last remaining MP last night. The DUP is the extremist Unionist party founded by Ian Paisley.

I suppose there aren't any other right wing parties for the Conservatives to form a coalition with so they have to take what they can get. Having looked up the DUP's policies I can't say I agree with all of them, especially their abortion stance, but at least they're pro-Union.
