Is really is such a clunky over produced effect. So much smoke and lighting for something not very impressive. Surely two hip cables could produce the same underwhelming effect with much less bother and worry.

It’s a whole lot safer than cables, and quicker too. The drama comes from the song and what is going on. The effects only compound this...

The Defying Gravity lighting for this tour looks SO much better than in London, in my opinion.
I think it must be the 1NT lights and lift.

I’m sure the 1st UK tour had the set from the old Germany/Netherlands show so we’re talking from 2010/2011?

Considering the amount of productions we once had compared to now they easily have spare lifts that could be brought over? 🤔

I can't understand why the 2NT hasn't implemented Chistery holding the Grimmerie in No Good Deed like he does on the UK tour, it's a far better compromise than having Elphaba hold the book in one hand while attempting to cast a spell!

Looking to book tickets for the Cardiff run, do we think the lift will be fixed by then?

Considering the amount of productions we once had compared to now they easily have spare lifts that could be brought over? 🤔 I do wonder whether they are all identical though. I would have thought, some of them would be made to fit into smaller theatres etc. I might be wrong but I believe the 1NT is the US was far less ‘portable’ and could only fit into certain theatres

With regard to the 'lifts' and availability of spares from previous tours, do consider that it may not be as simple as getting the one used on the first National Tour out of storage to use again. The mechanics and components were probably on a rental agreement and broken back down to constituent parts post-tour. Its like saying 'why doesn't an upcoming Phantom tour just use the same motors for the chandelier that they used back in the UK run of 1999?'. They won't have kept the motors in storage on the off-chance, its not financially justifiable. Same goes for whatever hydraulics and parts the DG Lift compromises of.

Heard back from the AV box office about the weather affected Bristol show and exchanging tickets today. Must admit I am very surprised with the seat they've given me, far better than I was expecting or even hoping for. Considering they didn't have to offer us anything I'm currently feeling very grateful for the seat they've allocated me

Surely it can’t be a complicated piece of machinery. It only does one thing!

Surely it can’t be a complicated piece of machinery. It only does one thing! On a serious point to this, I don’t understand how it’s only going a little bit up to start... in the SJB video that shows how it happens it all appears to be computer controlled - so surely the computer says “up” when she clicks herself in and it either does or it doesn’t?!

Sad about your Mother-in-Law, but would anyone else on here have paid as much really good money as I would have, to see Thora Hird going up on a stairlift while warbling "Defying Gravity"? Damn right! She’d have been the Morrible to beat!

If the motor or gear box jams though, its not going to get far. If its hydraulics it might not be getting to the right pressure. Moving big industrial automation pieces, like this Powerfly from STS, is going to have an effect on the performability of the device. Look at the Great Glass Elevator in Charlie, that had one job, didn't leave the theatre and was still prone to problems.

The next time any of you get snippy about other fans I'll remind you that you had a five page discussion about a lift that doesn't.

In our defence, we haven’t compared this lift against any other lifts...although the LiftyMclift 78-23 is a much better lift to represent a witches flight than the one that Wicked currently use. Anyone that thinks differently is just plain wrong...😂😂😂😂😂😂

Could the occurences when the lift decides to not rise or rise halfway be described as lift-riffs???

So the lift has posted a YouTube video complaining about all the negative reactions it's been getting on twitter - including death threats - and how it's now going to take a leave of absence due to illness.
