Thanks all! I'm not too bad. I'm ok if I expect them...
I remember when I used to usher at the Citizens in Glasgow we had a brilliant play "Kill Jonny Glendenning" which had many VERY loud gunshots! I spent the entire week in fright!
It's something which interests me actually because, for example, the gunshot in Les Mis, Phantom and even Miss Saigon aren't very loud but some that i've heard in plays are extremely. Are there many different types of gun which can be used on stage I wonder?
Anyway that is aside from this topic. Thanks for the advice!

Oh god, sorry for the detour but I had to leave in the interval at Ruth Wilson's Hedda Gabler at the National nearly a year ago. I was sat front row and after she repeatedly fired the very loud and very realistic gun literally towards the audience (i.e. right over my head), I knew I'd get so worked up during the second act when the gun returns so decided to leave. My own fault for booking front row.
But, on topic, I too am hoping to catch YF some time over the next couple of weeks.

I would say the worse show I've seen for gunshots is War Horse, as amazing as it is. Shame because I'd love to go again.
As for Young Frankenstein, it is definitely on my to-see list, but think I'll avoid the front row now.

I would agree, I sat in the front row and the pyrotechnics happen pretty much over you. Not loud, just over you ahaha.

I wonder how long Hadley will stay with this now that Rosalie is doing The Ferryman and Company - with a young child I would have thought one of them would want to be at home and one works, alternating their schedule (I think I read Samantha Bond and Alex Hanson did this).

I saw this last night and laughed like a drain. Really enjoyed it and, God knows, we could all do with a laugh these days. A terrific ensemble. No Hadley unfortunately (@ryan would not have been a happy camper) but Josh Wilmott was outstanding, he really was.

So I saw this last week and it was fine.
Lightly amusing is how I'd describe the comedy though. Baffled as everyone around my was hysterical. Reminded me of when the ball gets stuck in the net on Centre Court and the crowd laugh as if it's the funniest thing they'd ever seen.
The singing was good though!

Does anyone know if Hadley is off all week? Dianne is on holiday next week.

Emily Squibb, possibly - don't know if she's first cover.

I finally caught up with this on Saturday. Having seen the original over-bloated Broadway version (which defeated its great cast) I was curious to see it now scaled down and in a smaller venue. What was once over-produced and headache inducing is now a mildly enjoyable mediocre musical which could've been written in the sixties, the kind that are harmless but forgettable. The physical production looks cheap, the costumes feel rented and the sound is tinny. There are laughs to be had, mostly from Ross Noble and a few from Lesley Joseph ( who seems to be doing an exact recreation of Andrea Martin's Broadway performance) but themain problem for me is that no oneon stage ( except Mr Noble ) is organically funny. Everyone is pretending to be funny so it all felt false. I didn't have a bad time, just not a good one.

Stall baffled by the hysterics people were having sat around me - they really need to see some top notch comedy!

Oh phew. Do you think if I show Ross Noble this strange lump I've found that he'd be able to make a diagnosis at the stage door?

Caught this yesterday afternoon, prior to Hamilton. Not familiar with the film or broadway show, so went in blind. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Best described as a B-Movie Musical (thats a compliment). I can appreciate how it sits on the line of hilarious for some and mildly amusing for others. Best not taken too seriously, this is great fun. Will definitely return in the new year.
