There seems to be what looks like a UK tour of The Crucible (assuming it is Arthur Miller's) on sale at 10am today for Richmond, Brighton and Birmingham, but there is no artwork or any information about it other than the dates. Does anyone know what production this could possibly be?
Going to be an expensive show to tour - given the size of the cast. And given the fact that it is no longer on the GCSE syllabus, the market may have shrunk a little from what it was a few years ago.
Really like the look of the Broadway version - especially with Sophie Okonedo. Would like to see her transfer with this play (or any other play) but this would only be possibly if it came to london
The Crucible Sell a Door Theatre Company and The Queens Theatre Hornchurch, in association with Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg present Arthur Miller’s The Crucible
In 17th Century Salem, a society defined by intolerance and patriarchy, a group of teenage girls are discovered conjuring spirits. Sordid accusations of witchcraft soon fly thick and fast as the girls play judge, jury and executioner – destroying lives and changing a community forever.
The Queens Theatre, Hornchurch, award-winning Sell A Door Theatre Company in association with Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg re-invigorate Arthur Miller's terrifying allegorical comment on McCarthyism in their thrilling new production. Bringing together music and movement through a strong ensemble cast, this atmospheric staging of a theatrical classic will chill audiences to the core.
Enter the world of the Salem witch trials: a world of sensationalism, hysteria and the power of celebrity, and ask yourself how innocent we can be as we stand by and watch the drama unfold.
The Crucible is co-produced by the award-winning Sell A Door Theatre Company who have staged over 50 touring productions to date, including recent successful UK tours of The History Boys, Avenue Q, Footloose, and American Idiot
I've booked. Opening night £25 with ATG card. The Exchange did a very pared back version last year which I enjoyed but I hope this one is full-on mentalness, wanton hussies speaking in tongues, Tituba levitating, nighties flying everywhere and general spookiness. Really ham it up.
I know this is an old post but would just like to say that I am currently touring with The Crucible. We have just opened in Hornchurch and it's a fantastic show! Look forward to seeing some of you over the tour

How long is it? Don't think I could face another 4 hour Crucible especially not in the cheap seats in Brighton. Also, is there lots of shouting? I equate lots of shouting with bad acting
It runs at 1hour 20mins each half with a 20 min interval! Looking forward to touring through Brighton again. Last time I was there was with The Shawshank Redemption
The Ivo van Hove Broadway version apparently had a wolf in it. Or a dog playing a wolf. I would like to have seen that, livestock on stage is always good.
Smell it. Touch it. Kiss it. Kiss it! It's the mother lode...
As much as I like the accent, whenever a Northern Irish actor is cast in a role that's a bit shouty (in this case John Proctor) I can't help thinking about Ian Paisley. Slightly distracting.
Not as distracting as the man next to me who had a medical condition which made him sound like he was suppressing a hiccup every 30 seconds. But having said that my tummy was rumbling all the way through Act 2 so we were probably equal. When Rebecca Nurse nearly faints at the end and says "I've had no breakfast" I nearly stood up and shouted "PREACH, SISTER".
Well intentioned but slightly dreary production. Hated the design/set. Hated the occasional soundtrack which was supposed to add tension but didn't. Sound is terrible the actors are not mic'd and some of them cannot be heard. Bizarre mix of costumes, some period some modern. So basically we have half of the women in smocks and half of the men in M&S coats.
Some good turns but some weak ones too. Can't name names because Sellador haven't bothered to put a cast list on the website. Charlie Condou was ok. Her out of Call The Midwife, decidedly average.
The production at the Royal Exchange a year or so ago was superior despite being hugely pared back.
Why do ghey always do Mary Warren with a country bumpkin accent? I mean, I like it but they always do that.
Its a great play but this production doesn't do it justice.
My mum went to see this at the Cardiff New Theatre last night and due to cast illness there were 3 characters reading from scripts! Obviously these things happen but no explanation was given at the start of the show, they only found out why when they asked someone from Front of House at the interval!
Saw this today at the Birmingham Alex, actually thought it pretty good, some weak casting but thats to be expected. Proctors were good as wad Danforth. Shame house was barely quarter full!
