Very curious as to who will be the Monday (or more likely, Tuesday) night Norma. You can pretty much bet it will be Rachel Tucker. Word on the street is that she accepted the one show a week deal under the proviso that she was allowed to do the same for a Broadway transfer then succeed NS if the show ran past NS' 6-month contract.

This is not what actually happened - she said in an interview recently that when she accepted the role, it was offered as a 4 and 4 even split, but then she was counter offered the 1 show a week further down the role, which she almost didn't take, and had to really be convinced to do.

I can't see producers taking Rachel to NY for one show a week. That makes no commercial sense at all - and there are lots of suitable Broadway ladies who might be interested in the gig.

I wonder if they'll do the same £20 key worker/under 30 scheme on Broadway?

Trusting anything NYTIX posts is the equivalent of believing something you heard from your moms’ best friends’ doctors’ florists’ daughters’ boss who heard it from their grandson on a phone made of two paper cups and a string.

I think it’s a “no” to that question at the moment.
Is this sort of reinvention of a classic the type of thing Broadway audiences go for usually? And, if it goes like a rocket , could it continue with a cast change?
Location wise, does the St James lend itself to the act 2 opener? Problematic?

Literally contracted hypothermia when I saw New York New York there. (My more relevant observation is that it's massive, so you'll certainly lose the (relative) intimacy of The Savoy).

With Broadway economics, plus the timing for Tony Awards, I think it's highly likely they are planning for at least a 9-12 month* run. I could imagine Nicole will stay with the until approx. July, maybe longer if she wins the Tony and her voice holds out. Otherwise, I can imagine they would be looking for a replacement after Nicole.
* This does not mean the show will be open for bookings for the entire length of the run. It's typical in NYC that shows have shorter booking windows open at any one time than shows in London, for example.

When this was originally announced back in January, the rumour was Nicole was contracted for a six-month Broadway run. So yeah, it will be interesting to see what they do if it’s a huge hit there.
I’m also interested in seeing the prices as I’m hoping to catch this early next year. 🫣

When the original Broadway run was announced with Nicole for 6 months, I had assumed a late Fall start (thinking November-ish) to get her past the Tony nominations deadline and try to eek her into a few more months.
Now with this announcement, I'd assume a marketing gimmick where "6 months only" will magically extend (kind of like when Glen came in 2017 with the revival and by opening night the 10 weeks were extended thru the end of June) Just economics wise, they probably need Nicole and for it to be selling out for 9 months to recoup on Broadway.
I'm curious if Rachel will be coming along too. I remember reading speculation that she might and then take on the role full time in Summer 2025 (which we're getting way ahead of ourselves here)
Very exciting though. And as much as it's been infuriating waiting for news of the recording, (mostly because I was anxious that ALW would follow with his recent trend of not re-recording anything) I do like that they're using that to help build momentum. I'm definitely down for buying tickets next week (which will be like I did for the Original Broadwy production - mail ordering in March for November 1994)

Our first follow up - courtesy of NY Times:
"Scherzinger, who said she has committed to nine months in the role, will be joined on Broadway by her three Olivier-nominated co-stars, Tom Francis, Grace Hodgett-Young and David Thaxton." That would bring her run to June (in time for the Tonys and possible room for extension thru summer)

Considering Nicole will be in the role until mid 2025, will they release tickets for the entire run? Does anyone have a good guess of how this works?
I plan to buy tickets for February on Tuesday, but not sure if they will be available already

Out of all the divas through the years I have seen, I have honestly never heard anyone sing like that. When I saw the first show and then saw the pics on SM of her doing stage door I was like literally, she's gonna get ill singing like that then inhaling the public's germs - protect her at all costs. (Interestingly I think she more or less stopped hugging the public very soon after). Anyway, London was 4 months and she powered through like a super human trooper. Missed like, one show? And for me her voice remained 100% throughout. Was mesmerising. But I do wonder - can anyone sing like that for months on end? Hopefully yes!
