He was very cheap with Gypsy. Most of the set existed and was paid for by Chichester. (Though I'm just glad someone brought it to London when it was a big risk) Anyway.. Maybe he'll string up some extra fairy lights or something. Maybe give the set a dusting for the Dominion.

It also depends if they plan on shipping out the show back on tour again after London... they won't change the set for just London just to revert back to the tour one again.

Like you said, I'm glad he brought it to London though. I thought the set for Gypsy was amazing and one of my favourites!!

I highly doubt they'll do a new tour in January considering they've literally just finished an 18 month tour of the UK. Maybe in a couple of years they'll do a tour again. Haven't they still got the Adelphi set somewhere? Please change Queen of the Night though? It looked so tacky and I can't imagine Bev in that costume!

No... The transfer was sorted out after it opened in Chichester.. It wasn't a definite anyone would transfer it... Thank god he did. He was very cheap with Gypsy. It has been looking at touring again 2017/18...I don't know to what extent things are confirmed, but as fair as I'm aware it was at the point of pencilling in venues.

I don't think the set will change at all. The Germany production, which is the latest and is a non-touring production had a set identical to the tour, which looks a tiny bit different than London and it more "tour looking". There are very tiny modifications which they can implement at the Dominion without building a new set, ie some of the dancers jumping from traps in the stage, I'm Every Woman done on several platforms and the elevator at the end going up higher.
I do hope they change Queen of the Night. The costumes and music arrangement is dreadful.

Some pictures have been released on the internet showing the new cast, looks like it is the tour set they're using. Shame

It's filling in for six months, it's more economical to use the tour set

It was always gonna be the tour set, the tour cast are only getting 2 days rehearsal, and the only 2 'new' ensemble (Omari Bernard & Annie Kitchen) both were in the first tour cast, so not as much rehearsal needed. The only thing I'd prefer set wise is the original house, and as much as I don't mind the tour Queen of the Night, it suits the younger Rachel's better. Tho the original was a lot better

Will Ibinabo Jack have to leave early to do Dreamgirls? I'd prefer them to use the original two level house too as well as the original bar. What is the tour set like compared to the orignal - much different? It looks like an 'arena' from what I've seen. Yes I hope they do a different Queen of the Night too, but I don't think they will. I don't think Beverley would like doing the new one much

In Germany they used the original tour cabin set, so it might make a come back in London given that it's a six month sit down. I hope you're right about Queen of the Night. The new version is awful awful awful I really don't see how they do not see that. I can't imagine Bev or Deborah Cox in that garb doing this arrangement.

I just saw a Bodyguard advert appear on my TV, makes me very excited to see the show this autumn. Has anyone seen both Beverley and Alexandra and can offer any comparisons?

Beverley sings it beautifully (and better than Alexandra), but her acting is shockingly amateurish and her accent is laughable. Alexandra is a much better actress and just overall very charming in the role and dances very well.

Now she's done a year in Memphis and a season in Cats, I'm sure she'll be good in the role again. I thought her acting in Memphis was good. Only seen Alexandrs in this so looking forward to seeing Bev in it

Where as with Alex in BG......i didn't find it shocking....but i can't say it was good either. Given i saw them in different roles it's impossible to judge fairly but Bev seemed a better actress to me overall....

I think the only reason I didn't mind the tour Queen of the Night is because of the younger Rachel's, they suited it, although the first few times I saw Carole she didn't seem to comfortable with it. I really do hate the costumes for it and really can't imagine Bev doing it, although if she gets the new gold dress I'll be very happy

The karaoke bar was completely stripped down to virtually nothing, and during the academy awards scene they took out the screens and Ray Court originally walked around the auditorium during One Moment in Time but that had gone by the 3rd show

Very interesting! I presume Ibinabo will have to leave around October as I think that's when Dreamgirls start rehearsals? I presume they'll draft someone else in? Yeah the the tour set does look much more simple. The set isn't much really, it relies on the shutters a lot of the time. I hope they bring back where the stalker hangs at the beginning though rather than a projection! Yeah the karaoke bar looks so striped down! I hope it doesn't look bare in London as the Dominion stage is huge!!

Also, in the Oscar scene they no longer have the Oscars "broadcast" on the flat screens. But I really think we might get the original house back for the Dominion.

Never saw this in town so sadly missed Beverley, however did see it on tour with Alexandra, Zoe Birkett and Carole Stennett. Alex sung it very well (generally speaking, there were a few moments I wasn't keen on) but I found her acting to be poor. On the whole Zoe was infinitely better, and streets ahead of Carole who I just found to be absolutely terrible in the role. Personal opinion of her in the role, nothing against her as a person and no offence to anybody who enjoyed her portrayal, I just didn't warm to her at all and would have much rathered Rachel John be in that role.

I hope we get the cabin back in its fine form for the Dominion.
Carole Stennett was a great Nikki toward the end of the run in London. Never saw her Rachel.

I agree on Carole, she was a good Nikki but her Rachel is not good at all (I saw her only understudying the role in London). They really ought to have given her Nikki back full time and Rachel John should have been alternate Rachel. Her singing and acting was miles ahead.

Yeah I agree she was a good Nikki but I've never seen her as Rachel. I presume Rachel John likes her role at the moment as it means she gets to perform 8 times a week and is 1st cover Rachel anyway, Carole only gets to perform twice a week.

The original house was like a proper cabin that moved on stage and twisted, it had an upstairs too. From the look of the picture, this looks like the tour set stretched across the stage rather than the orignal

Thanks George - I haven't seen the tour, so wasn't sure how they differed and couldn't really see enough in the picture to see if it was the London version! Of course, promo photos don't necessarily represent the final set...

Of course, promo photos don't necessarily represent the final set... I never saw it on tour either but the picture of the house looks the same as the tour pictures. Yes that's what I was thinking too! I don't think the set is in the Dominion yet so maybe they just did really quick promo photos? I hope they up the set from the tour because it looks quite basic. They've never released a picture of Queen of the Night so maybe that's being changed again?

The pictures were done somewhen between Milton Keynes and Leeds going by who's in the pics as due to injuries they had 3 extra ensemble join at different points, I'm pretty sure Ben watched in Milton Keynes so maybe it was done then
