Have been watching this for most of this evening - it's some of the world's top opera performers, singing from home for the benefit of the Met. Some great performances, some moving ones, some challenged by the technology, but it's an amazing achievement to see handovers from opera stars' homes to opera stars' homes, around the world. Jonas Kaufmann, Joyce diDonato, Bryn Terfel, Joseph Calleja, Renee Fleming, Roberto Alagna... I was watching for 3.5 hours and had to stop for dinner, will catch up with the rest tomorrow. Only available until 11.30pm UK time tomorrow night (Sunday 26th) www.metopera.org/season/at-home-gala/

It's over 3.5 hours? Help! I was intending to watch it tomorrow (busy watching the Bolshoi this evening) but I assumed it'd only be a couple of hours. I think I'll be skipping through it & only watching those singers I particularly like then.

Agreed, really wish they’d made this available for 2 days rather than one. What were the highlights for you, n1david?

Too many to note but Alagna and Kurzak from L’Elisir, the Met chorus doing Va Pensero, a tremendously moving tribute to violist Vincent Lionti from the Met Orchestre who died of the virus, sung by Joyce Di Donato, and poignantly for me, “Somewhere” from West Side Story sung acapella by Isabel Leonard, so should have been seeing Ivo van Hove’s West Side Story on Broadway last night... Someone has helpfully put together a list of performers and pieces with approximate timings to help you skip to your favourites here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AnUJPfreNPP-0wjW5sXJ9wnYUktLFdQgErpB3buqb-4/edit

My mum loved “Somewhere”. Anthony Roth Costanzo was a surprise for me - such a live wire in conversation but an incredible, quietly graceful actor when he sang. Peter Mattei singing a song of seduction to accordion accompaniment was a never to be forgotten experience! And yes, a truly beautiful tribute to their late orchestra colleague.

I'm currently watching this - about 2 1/2 hours in - and so it is still viewable at the moment (10.50 am Monday 27th) should anyone like to give it a try.
