Do we know this for sure though? At the moment that is someone just saying that, we've not seen any evidence. So we need to be careful with that one. Actually her dad seems to have just got an MBE?! No evidence to prove the 'gay conversion' theory. He is, however, co-founder of a Christian Concern (amongst other organisations) which is actively against LGBT rights and has faught against the governments legislation for same sex marriage etc. www.christianconcern.com/our-issues/family-and-sexual-ethicsThere's quite a few articles on their site that qre obviously controversial but still got an MBE....

Do we know this for sure though? At the moment that is someone just saying that, we've not seen any evidence. Actually her dad seems to have just got an MBE?! I don't know if it's true or not, that's why I made a point of saying "if it's true". But we have evidence of her being homophobic so anything is possible and I'm not here for it. I agree. The website of the organisation he co founded is an interesting read "The family is the most foundational building block for society. The loving union of one man and one woman is the normal God-given context for children to be born and raised. This pattern for married life has been under attack for all of human history. Divorce, homosexuality and transsexualism are three of the most significant challenges to God’s pattern for family in today’s society." www.christianconcern.com/our-issues/church-and-state/modest-but-excellent-christian-concern-co-founder-ade-omooba-awarded-mbe

The last tweet from the Hippodrome (pre this issue being raised) just happened to be:
"We love having a show like @kinkybootsuk in our theatre that spreads the importance of love and acceptance."

Curve have just tweeted
The views expressed in the historic social media post by a member of Curve and @brumhippodrome’s The Color Purple cast in no way reflect those held by either of our theatres. We will be looking into the matter and will issue a full response in due course.
Sorry I couldn't work out how to post a screenshot

If people, like me, gave up earlier you may wish to try now. I just got through in fifteen minutes. I've got five tickets for Friday matinee on 27 December. Quite a lot for that day available. Struggling with all Saturdays for more than one ticket together!

No, real feminism is actually equality for both sexes. So why the frantically forced hype that men don't deserve realistic and well written storylines anymore and can only support those? Is that equality? That is the whole point. Roles like Seb in La La Land are ridiculous and only support female feminism and have no other goal or personality. That is the opposite of equality. So you do not want equality. Edit: If you don't want to be treated a certain way, the first thing you need to stop doing is treat others that way. Not every line or character line of a male in a film has to support the feminist story line of the female character as its only goal. Not doing this does not mean the core ideology of the filmmakers is different. You confuse character story lines with visions of the filmmaker. Women, please pay attention whilst Dave mansplains feminism to you

Saw this yesterday afternoon, I knew bits of the cast recording (namely the most outrageous bits) so I thought I’d give it a go and I really enjoyed it. It fits the Alexandra really well although from the rear stalls I couldn’t see the screens. As much as this show is fairly low-budget in terms of set, it came across really well and I thought the whole cast were lovely. I was also in yesterday for the matinee with four friends that hadn't seen it before. Thought it was in really good shape, Kate/Lucy and Princeton/Rod were excellent. Agree with previous poster that screens are in an awkward place. I recommend going to see it if it's at a venue near you

Just saw this with four friends this evening, five stars from me too *****
I like the cast recording but didn't expect to be so blown away, totally forgot it is still in previews. Wonderful cast, some lovely touching moments and also funny parts.
Was on row Q in £45 seats. Recommend! Didn't feel too far away and don't see that would have gained anything by paying £65 for two rows closer!

Looks like the show is popular, just looked for 9 January for five of us and there's nothing except a few single seats (across all sites I've checked)

He is very good, very poised. As for the second part of this oeuvre which I saw this evening, come on people, it is 40 minutes too long. Like most American movies it doesn’t know when to end. There are at least three places it could end beside the actual ending. The dies in his sleep at 97 is so utterly sentimental as is all the other happy endings that it takes away from the attempted deep pain of the characters' experiences. The suicide is a cliche. Did the writer not know how to get this character sorted out? The flashes of Howard's End were puzzling. They seemed to me rather workshopped, as if someone had the idea and they all worked on bits of it. I’m sorry but I just don’t see why this is so lauded at the moment. As for Ms Redgrave, she didn’t take advantage of the voice coach did she? Her accent was so all over the place it was ludicrous. It would have been better to keep her a Brit than the Australian Essex girl she came out as. Though hearing a woman's voice at the end was refreshing. So I was disappointed to say the least. The best part of the experience for me this week, having seen part one n Monday and two tonight was discovering the Egyptian Street food place opposite, Koshari Street. Great tasty food and lovely guys in there. Almost a replacement for Gaby's of blessed memory. I was in for part 2 tonight too, totally agree about the accent! Funnily enough I also went to Koshari street, great food and it was the first shift for one of the guys

I may see this on Broadway when I'm there at end of the month. Thought I might struggle to get a ticket, just looked for mid week evening shows and on ticketmaster about 90% of the seats are unsold! Unsold? That's surprising, a real drop off from the million dollar weeks every week since previews. Though January is a bit of a notorious month for being quiet so shows are ready for that. Yeah I was surprised - and that's just the Ticketmaster allocation- but I did think it's a slow time of year. It's NYC theatre week when I'm there and they go on sale on Wednesday so going to hold off for that beofre I book as shows on 241 so hoping to get a deal!

So torn over whether to book for this when I'm in NYC. I'm going with family so think Pretty Woman, King Kong or Anastasia may have greater appeal to them but I think this is probably a better show. Argh!

Has anyone seen this out of order? I'd really like to get to see it before it closes but only way I could is by seeing part 2 one evening then part 1 the following evening. It says on their website can see either part but also that the plot follows chronologically. I'd be grateful for any thoughts One of my friends saw it out of order and loved it! Thanks! I've decided to do that rather than miss out

If anyone else is looking to book for performances in the week the Official London Theatre NY sale has the £69.50 stalls seats for £40! Not great seats though. You’re better off doing the rush on TodayTix or waiting till the £25 tickets are released through the official website. Thanks but can't do the rush as only certain day can see each and if missed won't be able to see it. Don't think the seats are bad for th3 price

I've not seen it out of order but if you're willing to read a synopsis of Part 1 just so you're not blindsided all together by Part 2, then it's better to see it out of order than not at all, and honestly I think Part 1 is better anyway so there's ultimately no harm in leaving the theatre on a bit of a high. It does sort of suck that you would have to spoil yourself for Part 1 so you can actually get what's going on in Part 2, and it does sort of suck that the dramatic tensions of Part 1 would be lessened because you already know what's going to happen in Part 2, but we all know how Hamlet ends and keep buying tickets anyway, so as long as you're all about the journey rather than the destination (and I think you're open to these downsides or you wouldn't be considering seeing them out of order at all) then there's no reason not to do it. That's really helpful thanks
