I saw this film yesterday, and absolutely felt the need to post about it. "I, Daniel Blake" is an absolute masterpiece of cinema - heartbreaking and moving, but also funny. It has stayed with me long after the end credits rolled, and it appears that it affected others in the same way. At the end, people were reluctant to move from their seats, and I heard a few audibly sobbing. Yes, you can see the film's ending coming within the first 10 minutes, but that isn't the point. It is how the characters get there that truly matters. My first Ken Loach film, but definitely not my last. Just go and see it! Praise Indeed ! I'm a big fan of Ken Loach and I would recommend you seek out more of his work, if you;ve never seen Cathy Come Home I'd start with that though words of warning be prepared to get very very angry and be in floods of tears, TV doesn't come any better.

It's 'jukebox' with 3 original numbers based on/sequel to Man Who Sold The World The other Man (Who Fell to Earth) more likely? It is indeed.
The soundtrack cd features the three new songs in the show and on the second CD the three songs performed by Mr Bowie himself.

Sorry to introduce a solemn note but just for a few seconds remember the disaster that unfolded at Aberfan 50 years ago today.
144 people killed, 28 adults and 116 primary school children, each passing year just seems to make it the more poignant.
My heart goes out to the community and all Welsh people in particular...
Puts a lot of things into perspective.

I saw this last night, and I'm in the 3* camp. Interesting staging, good sound design (somewhat stymied by the broken fan above the circle which sounds like a swarm of cicadas), dull play. After all the NT's warnings about its 'tense nature' (I'll be the judge of that, thanks), the audience should have been staggering out at the end having being put through the wringer, but instead there was a palpable collective shrug. Some of the four-star notices seem to be coming from middle-aged straight male critics who were mesmerised by Debicki's gratuitous wardrobe malfunction. Or they just might have liked the play.....

Was very amused at "The Dresser" on Saturday afternoon. Watching the audience come in before the show, one person entered clutching a very familiar oblong box. Obviously popped into the Garrick en-route to buy a now (in)famous snowglobe. They aren't even seeing a KB show before buying one, now, I guess. I suspect the Garrick snowglobe is going to be this Christmas' must have present !!!

One of the few musicals I've been too ( mainly because I've always loved Four Seasons records ), great back story and fabulous songs.

...and 4 stars from The Times, I for one am so looking forward to seeing this.
If anyone is looking to read a good biography of Rochester then I can recommend Cephas Goldsworthy's The Satyr which concentrates in equal measure on his poetry and his life.

Not a fan of the series but how pleasing is it to see the three female presenters showing some old fashioned loyalty.
